Pristine Farmhouse -- 5 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Many Ahhhhhs

Bedrooms 5
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

5 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 11 -- Central Air Conditioning

Welcome to a slice of way back when. Nestled in the heart of New York wine country and five minutes from the Watkins Glen International Raceway, Seneca Lake, sunset cruises, funky antique shops, peaceful waterfalls, winding trails, world class restaurants, wineries, breweries and tasting rooms, this farmhouse built in 1860 is flooded with light, fresh breeze and a laid back attitude. The moment you open the door, you'll take a deep breath and say, "I could definitely relax here."

Five rooms are available:

• The Green Room, king bed

• The Burgundy Room, queen bed

• The Wrought Iron Room, full bed

• The White Room, two twin beds

• The Downstairs Room, queen bed

• There is also a fold out couch for one person on the first floor

• A Pack And Play crib is in the closet of the Burgundy Room

All rooms offer wireless Internet with central air conditioning, ceiling fans or windows that open for fresh air.

Evenings welcome you back to a relaxing front porch or fenced-in backyard -- pets welcome.

The house is completely furnished with four bedrooms upstairs, and one bedroom on the first floor. There are two full bathrooms, one on each floor, one combined with a first floor laundry room with washer and dryer, as well as a fully equipped kitchen, kitchen nook, pantry, and formal dining room with comfy dog couch and living/sleeping room.

There is plenty of parking, including for trailers (just park in the public area across the street) and a fenced-in large back yard to enjoy the fire pit at sunset.

Smoking is prohibited inside the house. Occupancy is limited to 10 children/adults plus an infant on the property.

Includes WiFi, linens, towels, blankets and pillows, basic spices, dish soap, trash bags, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, and propane for gas grill. There are many kid games, stuffed animals and toys.

You are expected to leave the house in the same condition in which you found it; however no need for vacuuming or deep cleaning -- please leave beds unmade upon departure.

Check-in is at 4 pm and checkout at noon.

Please note the booking rate is very low for 2017 as we are making various upgrades including new mattresses, pillows and bedding (done), new interior decor (done), ceiling fans in all rooms (done), remove pine tree for more light (done), new shower heads (done), replace electrical breaker box (done), dressers in all rooms (done), paint exterior of home (done), and new cookware, games and toys -- we plan to plant hydrangea bushes, paint interior of home, paint fence, replace plumbing, replace downstairs shower, replace carpet, new roof, and new deck in back with fire pit (all planned for 2017).

About Sarah

My husband was raised in way upstate New York, and I was raised in Michigan. We now live in the DC area with our two little ones and two dogs. We LOVE to come to the property when we can -- definitely our home away from home.

Sarah purchased this farmhouse in 2005

Why Sarah chose Seneca Lake

I love open windows and sun coming through them; my husband is a car nut who loves the area for its focus on cars old and new; we love the restaurants, sunset drives, going for ice cream (almost nightly!), letting the dogs and kids run around the back yard and the much less hectic pace and simplicity of this + 150 year-old home.

Old homestead with modern convenience

Close to tourist attractions and town. Also, close to a busy highway but with a generous enclosed back yard. Very welcoming. Thanks for a lovely stay.

What a surprise and wonderfully charming home. Worth twice the price. I have never relaxed as much as I did here. It will become an annual rental for us. 5 Stars!

Charming and roomy old-world farmhouse with numerous modern amenities.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this home was a pleasurable one.

The property is located a very short distance to town and less than 15 minutes to Watkins Glen raceway. This allowed us to make multiple trips back to the house throughout the day to check on our pets. Additionally, the layout for our yorkie and golden was perfect and made us ( and them ) comfortable as they could both be placed in the roomy gated area off the dining room with central air while we were out and about doing activities with our kids.

Overall the home was very clean and well-stocked with all the necessary household items. This farmhouse possesses charm with its high ceilings, attractive decor and has ample sleeping and living space which made our stay an enjoyable one.

We are looking forward to booking again this summer.

A step back in time

  • 5 of 5

I came out with a couple of girlfriends to run the Wineglass Marathon (Bath to Corning). We had a wonderful stay at this place. The house is different than any other I have stayed in. It is like truly stepping back in time. It fit our needs for a girls weekend perfectly. It was very clean. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are large, we each had our own room to sleep in and there were rooms left over. The kitchen was well equipped and we made good use of the front porch to sit and relax. It is conveniently located to Watkins Glen with many yummy places to eat and the state park right there. It is also a close drive to many of wineries.

The owner was fantastic to deal with!!!

The place has a large kitchen table where we all naturally gathered. We had a puzzle going the whole time and a glass of wine in our had while we were doing it. What a fantastic long weekend.
