Your hosts, Mike and Kim purchased this painted lady in June of 2015 and live in the owners unit on the left side of this 4000+sqft residence. Our dream home is and will always be an ever changing work in progress: always on the lookout for that next perfect antique or Victorian treasure to place inside, to the ongoing exterior yard restoration; adding perennial and vegetable gardens, working on the lawn and path down to the woods or just finding ways to make our guests more comfortable! Their goal is to provide all that one could need to make your stay relaxing and memorable. Between them, Mike and Kim have 7 children and 3 grandchildren scattered about the country, as well as one feisty Jack Russell who you may see wandering around the house or napping on the porch with his feline companion, Simba. If you have questions or a special request please don’t hesitate to contact Mike and Kim to discuss. They will get back to you promptly!
Very homey feel. Great kitchen. Owners very helpful and thoughtful. Would stay again
The property was completely charming in every way. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Our girls getaway with six mothers couldn't have been in a better location, a perfect spot for relaxing. One of favorite things had to be the cozy comfortable mattresses which made our nights away from our children some of the best nights sleep we had in years. Every detail had been taken care of down to the coffee supply and cupboards full of necessities. We are determined to go back for another stay sometime soon.
We had a wonderful time staying here. Plenty of room, and the house was immaculate and very accommodating. The location was very nice, close to everything but outside of Albany. We were fortunate enough to have a snow day when we were there and the owners provided sleds to my six year old daughter and started a nice bon fire in the backyard for us. It was the highlight of her trip! We will without question stay here again when we are in the area. I would recommend to anyone.
Had a great stay! So much nicer than staying in a hotel, lots of room for the 5 of us and the dog. Very nicely decorated and close to Albany, while being more in a rural setting. Would definitely stay again if we head their way in the future :-)
We looked for a place to stay for our family of 6 while in the Albany area for a family celebration. Grey Gables was great solution. Mike and Kim were welcoming and accommodating. It has country charm close to grocery stores and area attractions. Try some ice cream at Toll Gate cafe nearby. No need to bring games and books. It felt like home for a week. Having the extra space it provided compared to a hotel room, a kitchen, and washer/dryer was important to us with 2 young children. The pack 'n play and high chair were a plus. The screened-in porch and patio in the back add to its versatility. We would definitely stay there again when we are in the Albany area.
The Dye Family
This house was perfect in every way. My brother and his wife, along with my family including 2 kids stayed here for a family vacation for a week. It was wonderful having a full kitchen (great stocking of kitchen items!) and not having to constantly shush the 3 yo from running around in a hotel. It was great for a family gathering we had, Mike and Kim were gracious for the overflow parking and the kids taking over the backyard. The rooms were beautifully decorated and well stocked with blankets though with the heat running, we didn't need them too often. The washer/dryer were great as well. Truly was a wonderful place and we had a wonderful time, definitely recommend it! They even had a pack and play and high chair for our 1 year old. Thank you Mike and Kim!!!
