We fell in love with Pawling when visiting to Darryls House to see a band and decided to purchase a weekend home and will eventually make it our full time home.

We planned to meet friends in the Hudson Valley and were a little surprised by the inflated cost of what we consider a pretty average hotel chain. My husband found this house in his search, and we were much happier with the cost-benefit ratio. It had all the amenities (wifi, one and a half baths, five televisions) and more charm. The house is warm and welcoming, spacious, and comfortable. It's centrally located--we were able to walk to cute restaurants and bakeries. (The train is also nearby.) We were also near the museums we wanted to visit. There was also hiking that was in walking distance (near the lake). We couldn't have been happier.
Our family of four stayed here for only three nights and we wish it could have been longer. It has a wonderfully homey feel and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. One night we had my sister and her family over for a reunion dinner and it felt just like home cooking and socializing in the beautiful kitchen and gathering around the dining table. It's a short walk to the train station, though it is a long ride (almost 90 minutes) to the city so this is really more about a country escape than a practical cost-saving alternative to staying closer to town. There's a wonderful restaurant with a surprisingly sophisticated menu for a more rural area a few blocks away. The house was very clean, even prettier in person, the beds were very comfortable, communications with the owner were great, and my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.
The house was amazing. Late 1800s early 1900s a great change from the sprawling suburb style we see every day. At once very private, but also completely connected to the town and within walking distance of some great little shops and places to eat. For our family (tied to devices all the time) the wifi was a huge plus (you've got to post about all the cool stuff you've seen right?). You get to spend time in a great old house with tons of character, but everything on the inside is updated and easy, so you get the best of old and new. The drive in and out to visit friends and family was perfect. Winding roads, rock walls and woodlands broken up by farmers fields really show off a part of New York that many people out of state don't appreciate. Our visit in mid October also gave us the fall color change, which was pretty amazing when added up with all the other landscape features of the area. This house was hard to say goodbye to.
house is beautiful, neighborhood
is from a movie scene. location is central to everything. host is amazing! can't speak highly enough of this rental, best ever for my family and i!!
Family of five stayed for eight night in this spacious, attractive and well appointed property. After busy and long days in NYC, Long Island and the Connecticut coastline / Yale, we felt very comfortable and at home here. Although we only breakfasted here due to our long days, the kitchen is spacious and could be used for family meals easily. Air Con in all rooms helped as weather was beautiful. Plenty of parking space in rear of property. There is never any certainty when booking online from pictures, but this property is a real gem. Good communication on any issues from Howie. Book with confidence.
My family and I were in the unusual situation of moving after selling our home in the area much quicker than expected. We found this charming home on VRBO and contacted Howard regarding availability. He worked with us to provide accommodation for the time we needed and was very friendly and hospitable. The house has been beautifully remodeled and updated and was very clean and comfortable. All the basic necessities were provided. The town of Pawling is quaint and the house is within walking distance to the train, restaurants, and shops. It's a great house and we are hoping Howard will still be renting when we come back to the area to visit!
My friends and I had a great time staying at this rental house in Pawling. The décor is right out of a cottage living magazine and the kitchen was fully stocked with every amenity. Plenty of space to hang out and eat and drink and catch up. So comfortable and cozy, we didn't want to leave! Everything was clean, well ordered, and functional. I would recommend to anyone who needs a place to stay in this area.
