Overview

About the property

Only minutes from the Grand Canal, Rialto & St Marks

Our flat in Ca’ Amadi is just minutes from the vaporetto stop at Rialto (lines 1 & 2), a short journey down the Grand Canal from the main arrival points of Piazzale Roma and the Ferrovia (railway station). A truly magical way in which to arrive!

Ca'Amadi overlooks a very quiet and private Corte (with its 15th century well), yet is only minutes from the bustling Rialto Bridge and the Market. St Mark’s square (San Marco) is about 10 easy minutes away on foot.

The apartment sleeps 2 - 4 adults comfortably (with an extra sofa bed in the living area), and is available throughout the year for a minimum of 3 nights. It is an ideal base for weekend or short breaks.

Although popular throughout the year, we particularly recommend visits in the quieter months of February, March and November.

“In the winter, Venice is like an abandoned theatre. The play is finished, but the echoes remain”.

Ca'Amadi lies on the edge of the sestiere (district) of Cannaregio, a local residential area and a true ‘Venetian’s Venice’, with a wealth of food and artisan shops, bars and restaurants.

Vaporetti for the outlying Islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello leave from the Fondamente Nuove, again a short walk away.

Close by, across the Rialto Bridge are the spectacular daily fish and vegetable markets.

..... for exploring Venice. Set in quiet courtyard, but only a little off the beaten track; it is beautifully furnished and fitted out. Everyone has been so helpful and friendly.

Super location. Wonderfully equipped. A real home from home.

Every detail was thought of from the meet and greet service from the local Water taxi or water bus drop off point from the airport to the UK adapter in the cupboard. Clean smart and stylish. Spread over two floors of the second floor and loft of a very traditional Venetian house set in a quiet court yard, it is full of character. Low rafters in the loft made for interesting manoeuvres. The Opera House and lots of lovely restaurants close by and only minutes from the Rialto Bridge. A great location.

MIxed review

Good things: Location (five minutes walk from Rialto vaporetto stop and close to many good places to eat and shop), air conditioning on main level and separate unit upstairs, having a small kitchen for some snacks - wouldn't cook full meals here. Pull out couch for our 15 year old daughter was fine/comfy. Bed upstairs was comfy.

Not so great things: "hobbit house" as we call it - the upstairs bedroom. We went into it knowing the ceilings were low - but it's really low as you round the stairs to the 1/2 bath. If you are tall, this is not the place for you. Upstairs bath has a toilet and sink - you could brush your teeth while sitting on the pot if you'd like - it was very close together!

Check in was fine - the girl was not super informative but gave the basics. Met us at the boat stop and we followed her to the apartment.

We locked ourselves out of the apartment - we left one set of keys in the door and took the second set of keys with us. DONT DO THIS!! We were locked out with a set of keys in our pocket - and it cost us over $200 Euros to have the Fire Department come break in for us. There was no other option we were told. :( Kind of a bummer but at least the fire men were nice and cute.

Getting an email after returning home saying they failed to collect some fee and now want us to pay. Not happy about that.

Lovely peaceful apartment in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I together with adult daughter and son stayed for 3 nights in June 2018. The air conditioning was a very welcome feature as was the very peaceful campo the apartment is based in as the city was full of us noisy tourists !

Note that the loft double bed room is charming but would not suit particularly tall folk. I’m 5’ 11’ and was OK.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your very kind remarks Andy and we’re very glad you all enjoyed your visit. I manage to cope with the attic bedroom and I’m 6’ +; children love it. Let us know when you want to go again! Regards, Miles & Jane.

Close to everything, but away from the crowds!

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights at Ca' Amadi in Venice. The apartment is as pictured and is clean, comfortable and cozy. We like to cook and we were able to purchase groceries at a large grocery store and cook in the well equipped kitchen! There was wealth of information to plan our time in Venice! We absolutely appreciated the assistance of our greeter, Martina! She communicated in advance with us to help us plan for our arrival in Venice. We did not realize that we would be arriving during an annual rowing/paddling event called Vogalonga...the main canal was closed to public transit and the water buses were not running. Martina planned an alternative meeting point, was aware of our late train and guided us to the apartment! There was some construction in the courtyard area, but it only resulted in noise for a few hours of one day during our time in Venice. Our young adult daughter loved her dream attic bedroom...we used the main floor bedroom with extremely comfortable beds!!!

The apartment was a perfect base for our visit to Venice!

A superb place right in the centre

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay in the heart of Venice. It gives you easy access to all the sights but is central enough to pop back to when the heat and crowds becomes too much.

The loft bedroom is not for those with mobility issues but worked well for us.

Good contact with the hosts.

Great location and roomy enough for 4 adults.

Great location. Very clean. The lack of headroom in the attic space added to the charm. Extremely grateful that Martina met us st the boat, walked us to the apartment and got us started on a wonderful 3 days in Venice.

Venice – La Serenissima - the most magical city on earth………….

On the edges of the sestieri of Cannaregio, Castello and San Marco, Ca'Amadi is extremely convenient for the city’s main attractions, all of which are in easy walking distance. Equally, the quieter residential areas, with shops, bars and restaurants can easily be found close by and ‘off the beaten path’.

From the busy Campo San Bartolomeo, a street leads north towards the Church of San Giovanni Crisostomo, off which is the square of the Teatro Malibran, one of the city’s major venue for classical concerts. The Corte Ca’Amadi lies just to one side. Nearby is the house where Marco Polo lived.

Vaporetti for the outlying Islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello leave from the Fondamente Nuove, again a short walk away.

Close by, across the Rialto Bridge are the spectacular daily fish and vegetable markets and the residential sestieri of Dorsoduro and San Polo.
