The cabin was really nice but my boyfriend suffered terribly from allergies to dust ....the cabin was clean, just we have to be more careful in the future with older homes we book. Lake was gorgeous....great selection of movies too! Had fun on the canoe!
What a treat it was to be able to walk down to the water and swim, boat and fish. Our tween children enjoyed the setting. Playing pool outdoors was a real novelty. The cabin had many suitable supplies (pots, pans, mic, etc...) and things were quiet on Yankee Lake our entire stay. We caught sunnies and an eel, saw the river otter, a few snakes and best all a wonderful close up view of the eagle perched on a tree on the island.
This cabin was so awesome!! Everything was there, toilet paper, soap, etc! The bed was so comfy. Nicer than mine at home. And it had a whirlpool tub! Nice surprise! I went kayaking everyday and we even attempted to take the rowboat out once. Has a nice little sandy place so you can wade in. We went to 1 brewery or winery each day. The ones we picked were 30-45 min away but a very nice drive. We cooked out every nite so I don't know about any restaurants. I brought all of our own food. Neighbors were a retired couple and very nice. The other house was empty. Friendly people on the lake.
The deck was awesome to just sit on and watch the lake and the hummingbirds. Nice comfy rockers on deck. Saw chipmunks and squirrels and woodpeckers and all kinds of birds. Very relaxing. Thank you for opening your home to us.
We spent a long weekend in the cabin last week (mid-June 2016). This was a wonderful time to be on Yankee Lake. We felt we had the lake almost to ourselves. The next door neighbors on either side were very quiet and unnoticeable. The cabin was very comfortable for our five people and extremely well-supplied with all cooking utensils, bedding, towels, etc. – and spices galore in the cabinet. Our two grandchildren – 15 and 11 – stayed in the bunk room and loved having the TV to themselves (the number of movie DVD’s is overwhelming, by the way, and a good selection). I was attracted to the cabin for the option of boats: the one-person kayak was super – both grandchildren, our son and I had fun using it. The canoe is larger than any canoe I’ve ever seen – probably 4 people could use it. I went alone in it with my granddaughter in the kayak and I did just fine. Yankee Lake is a great lake for kayaking and canoeing, by the way. Swimming off the pier was great and I learned from the neighbor that this side of the lake is the most desirable on Yankee Lake. We get the beautiful sunset and great swimming. The water on the other side of the lake is grassy and not ideal for swimming. I saw a few people fishing – for bass and pickerel. The house is properly described as “rustic” and was exactly what we were seeking. The separate shelter with the pool table down by the lake makes a great place for the younger members of the family to hang out – away from the adults. We had a super time and our grandchildren want to go back. The biggest decisions to make at this cabin: whether to have coffee or cocktails on the porch or on the pier at the lake. Both are wonderful.
This place is amazing. It truly has everything you could imagine wanting. For instance if you wanted more firewood, you would just have to close your eyes and wish for it. Then start looking around the house and you are bound to find it. Want a random kitchen implement? An extra set of paddles for any of the three boats? How about a particular out-of-production 90's board game? Just close your eyes-wish-and start looking. It's really just that easy. This place was wonderful. Cozy, warm, rustic. I highly recommend it.
This is a perfect cabin. Very rustic, with everything made from old wood, a massive fireplace / chimney, and great grounds including a firepit, two docks, and boats. There is plenty of room to cook in the kitchen and eat / hang out in the living room. The two larger bedrooms are great, and while small, the bunk room is livable. My only complaint is that the bunk bed was very small / creaky and could be sturdier.
The neighbors are pretty close, but you have an unobstructed view from the living room to the water, and plenty of room outside. Would recommend this cabin to anyone, either in warm or cold months!
