About the property

Home with Optional Tree House And Tiny House Near PDX Airport

For an additional fee, renters may use the tree house and tiny house on the property and sleep up to 12 people. Main home is suited for 8 people.

The house is walking distance to the Columbia and Washougal river. You can walk to a grocery store, convenient stores, restaurants, brew pubs and bars. We are 15 minutes to the PDX Airport and 30 minutes into Downtown Portland. The property is on a large city lot with a patio, fire pit, big kitchen, porch, adult tree house and tiny house. Washougal is much smaller and low key than Portland. We have more elbow room out here you might say.

Easiest way to the house is by car. You can take a cab or Uber. If you would like to use public transportation, you can take the Max Train from the airport to the Parkrose transit center, and then to the Vancouver Transit center off of 164th. From there you can take another bus into Washougal. The bus drops off on E street, which is an easy 1/2 minute walk to the house. Plan for at least an hour to get from the airport using mass transit and the bus runs until about 7:30 pm.

Guests will have private access to the entire 4 bedroom, 2 bath home, yard, and property, along with large stocked kitchen, dining nook, TV area, sauna, soaking tub, pellet stove, tree swing, private washer and dryer and plenty of places for lounging, inside and out. For an additional fee, renters may use the tree house and tiny house on the property and sleep up to 12 people. Main home is suited for 8 people.

Owner maintains access to a separate unit on the property.

About Kenny Bavoso

I moved to The Columbia River Gorge in 1992 because I loved to windsurf. I've now lived in the Great Northwest for 23 years and absolutely adore it. I grew up in Colorado. I enjoy building and fixing things, and also spend a lot of time in the outdoors, camping, traveling and adventuring.

Kenny Bavoso purchased this house in 2005

Why Kenny Bavoso chose Washington

This is one of the oldest homes in Washougal, built in 1910. It's located at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge. You can walk to the Washougal and Columbia Rivers. There are lots of hiking and biking trails, and nearby outdoor resources of all kinds.

What makes this house unique

Hiking trails, Washougal river, mountain biking, breweries, in The Columbia Gorge but relatively close to Portland, more economical then staying in Portland, and more elbow room to park your car and access neighboring cities.

It has its quirks...

  • 2 of 5

The house was ok, it had the rooms we needed. It could use some more cleaning though, there were some spider webs in the bedroom that I was staying in. When we rent any house we have the expectation that we would have some privacy since we are traveling with kids (our youngest being 12) and all. The first night we stayed here it was fine, the kids stayed in the tiny house and the tree house, the second night when we came back to the house after a day out and about we were surprised to find that the owner was there. We though that something was wrong, but then we found out the owner lives on the property in this small little shack/studio. After finding that out my bother and I were a little skeptical because we found it odd. Since we had the kids we were a little paranoid because you can never be too trusting, and we were under the impression that the only people on the property would be my family. Needless to say the kids did not sleep in the tree house and tiny house that night or any night after, this also made us want to leave a day earlier than we had planned because the kids were also unsettled. Its not to say that the owner is a bad person or anything, he seemed very kind. But as a parent it is concerning, and takes away from the feeling of safety. So I would consider this before renting out this house, had we known this beforehand we probably would have looked elsewhere.

Awesome place, amazing host

  • 5 of 5

Kenny has a beautiful property which we enjoyed to the fullest. We were traveling with two little kids and had a great time. The house was well stocked with pots and pans, the beds and bathrooms were comfortable, the neighborhood was safe and the property was simply gorgeous. The tree house is more for adults than it is for kids and the owner makes sure renters are aware so kids won't get hurt. Kenny was also gracious enough to lend us his son's carrier for hiking. I thank Kenny for this hospitality and would absolutely recommend his place.

Quirky, but approaching crumbling

  • 2 of 5

This is a quirky old home with lots of fun nooks and crannies. It's decorated with old style furniture that is still comfortable and functional, if a bit threadbare and sagging here and there. The beds were clean and comfortable. The house had clearly been well cleaned, but we discovered a few ants on our food on the kitchen counters that really turned us off. The showers are very different and need to use curtain poles that enlarge them as you have to shower sideways to not have the curtains stick to you. I'm sure with the ant problem dealt with, this will continue to be a nice home for a quick stay.

Relaxing, Beautiful and Unique

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent the weekend in this home celebrating my mothers 50th birthday. The house was stocked with almost all the pots, pans, towels, toilet paper, and other necessities you would need. It was clean, and the backyard was spectacular. We enjoyed the backyard and being so close to downtown Washougal and Camas. The neighbors were friendly and the owner was very helpful and accommodating. I would most definitely rent this space again in the future. Thank you, Kenny!
