The inventory of the house equipment will be given at the time of the booking. Equipment is constantly upgraded: for instance this mid 2016 season there are 3 new electrical fans new vacuum cleaner, a new micro oven, a new SMART TV, a second DVD reader, spare firewood for winter guests. Fire extinguisher, fire blanket, fire alarm are all up to date. The downstairs room is the old 'donkey room' since transformed after donkeys, mules and goats started to disappear from daily village life in the 70s. Accessible for garden furniture.

Pretty Traditional Spanish House - Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

Everything you need to enjoy your stay in this beautiful village. Lovely terrace and beautiful garden with lemon and olive trees to provide shade in the afternoons. Easy walking distance to the village bars, restaurants and shops. Francoise, the owner, was extremely helpful and responded quickly to any queries that we had. Would highly recommend and hope to return sometime soon.

We had the most relaxing stay for a week, exactly what we were looking for. Frigiliana is a beautiful town and the house was like a home from home. Very well equipped, traditional, comfortable, welcoming and a short walk from the town centre. Our only wish is that we had stayed longer than a week.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful house, a fabulous village, great places to eat and friendly people.

The house is a perfect home from home. It feels loved and looked after, a real find with lots of character. The photographs perfectly reflect the house. Everything you could possible want is included and the owner provides an in depth guide to the house and local area.

Getting to Frigiliana from Malaga using a hire car could not be simpler, a meet and greet at the arrivals then a few minutes offsite to pick up a car. I recommend Centauro, but do get the extra insurance when booking as it is more expensive once in Spain.

The journey to Frigiliana is very straightforward taking about 50 minutes.

The house is easy to find and parking is not a problem. Lots of local shops a short walk away and a bus ride to Nerja for €1 if you want to leave the village, no need to drive.

There are more restaurants and bars than you can possibly fit in, all at reasonable prices. We particularly enjoyed the wine bar El Colmao on Calle Real. A speciality is their five wine taster menu including typical regional food - an absolute delight.

A house and village to visit again and again. I’m planning to!

A lovely and cozy house in a peaceful and friendly small town in the mountains. Everything was clean and proper, kitchen had everything (ok, maybe a frying machine would be lovely to have) and the TV had sometimes problems with connecting to some channels. But given that you are on holiday and do not expect to spend time in front of the box this was a minor inconvenience. Excellent garden with lemon and avocado trees. The place you dream of if you relish quiet and affable people. Very attractive historical downtown. All of my family members loved it.

Experience village life

  • 4 of 5

After visiting Frigiiana for a few hours last year we decided that we would like to experience living in this beautiful village and so rented this lovely little town house. We were attracted by the photographs showing a rustic style house, in a great location within the village. We were very pleased when we arrived to be met by Lola who showed us around the property... it was exactly as the photographs, perfect for our 13 night stay, with all the comforts we needed. It has the feel of a real home, not a rental property, with many nice touches and pottery on display adding to the charm. Parking is in the little street and we never failed to park more than 20 yards from the front door. The house was clean, tidy and well maintained - an easy place to relax. There are a number of lovely restaurants on the doorstep so a car is never needed unless you are going out of the village. During our stay there was a festival Dia de la Cruz where dancers, singers and musicians performed at each of the Crosses (Cruz) which the villagers had made. There was food and drinks for all supplied by the was a wonderful 6 hours following the performers and enjoying the atmosphere. Nerja is a simple 15 mins away if you are looking for the coast and holiday destination. Easy drives to Alhama and also Granada are well worth a day trip. The owner was quick and efficient in dealing with our booking, offered good advice and had a local representative who met us at the property and at the end of the stay. She was available to us throughout the stay should any issues arise. If you are looking for a relaxed stay, in the village we would thoroughly recommend this property. The only point to bear in mind is that the property does not have a safe, so we kept our passports on us at all times.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. The village is very safe and friendly, the house is secure: we never experienced any theft in the past 40 years but your suggestion of a strong box in the house is welcome and I shall endeavour to place one in the house for my guests' travel documents and personal valuables.

Wonderful summer stay in Frigliana

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful 10-day stay in Frigliana, at this home that is full of charm and character. It was exactly what we were looking for. The back patio provides a beautiful shaded spot for having meals and hanging out with family and friends. There are abundant fruit trees and grape vines. The roof-top deck was always sunny, with nice vistas towards the hills and coast. The interior is charmingly decorated and very functional. Everything was tidy and in good order upon arrival.

Frigliana itself is a great little town, with many good restaurants and shops, pretty white-washed buildings and walkways, and very nice people and a relaxed vibe. The beach town of Nerja is a quick 5 minute drive down the hill.

The location is suitable to use as a base to explore many cities in the South of Spain. We made day trips to Malaga, Ronda, Cordoba, and Grenada, and felt that all these drives were quite manageable (1-2 hours).

Lastly, the proprietor Francoise was super helpful both prior to and following our trip. Thank you for a wonderful summer in Spain! If we are lucky enough to make it back to this area in the future, we will definitely stay here again!

Burriana Nerja
Car: recommended

Our traditional Spanish house is in the typical Andalusian white Moorish village of Frigiliana, winner of national awards for its beauty and historical interest, on a hill 3 miles from Nerja on the Costa del Sol. We supply links/maps of how to find the house and where shops/restaurants are in Frigiliana at the time of your booking. A photoshoot walk along the meandering ancient narrow streets of the village is an unforgetable experience. This unique village is 10 minutes drive from the traditional Andalusian town of Nerja, full of typical restaurants, shops and beautiful sea-views over the bay of the 'Balcon de Europa', and the myriads of fine, sandy beaches nearby, including the famous Burriana beach where you can enjoy excellent paellas and sea-food, your feet in the sand. Frigiliana boasts wonderful Mediterranean walks in the hills and river valleys around. Its week-long Festival of The 3 Cultures in late August, its Christmas and Easter processions by candelights are very recommended. Two kms from Nerja is the major tourist attraction of the vast Cuevas de Nerja with beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations. The unforgettable sites of Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba, Ronda, Archidona are within 2/3 hours by car, and lively Malaga, with its handsome bay, central park and castle, is just one hour away. About the same distance as Granada are the ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada, and not much further afield are the beautiful national parks of Donyana, Cazorla, Grazalema, and Cabo de Gata.

Other Activities: 1-3 hours drive to major tourist attractions of Malaga Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba; 2 hours to ski slopes of Sierra Nevada to the north , or the Rock of Gibraltar to the south; 3-4 hours to national parks. We keep in our house a bank of brochures for you to explore this region.
