Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Frigiliana - 14 Navas Acosta Frigiliana

Attractive, spacious house in quiet street. Sea and mountain views. Sleeps 6.

Our traditional andalusian village home, at the heart of this most beautiful, historic village of Frigiliana, is available all year round for self-catering holiday rental for up to 6 guests. Single pets are allowed.

Comfortably furnished, three miles from pretty low rise traditional sea side town of Nerja, the Burriana and other excellent beaches nearby, 5 minutes walk away from a luxurious summer open swimming pool overlooking the sea and the valleys and boasting a good cafeteria, the house is an ideal base for staying put and enjoying a sea side holiday, for exploring the old Moorish quarter of Frigiliana, the valleys and hills around. Chose it as your base to visit unforgettable cities (Granada, Malaga, Sevilla, Cordoba, Archidona, Ronda) and remarkable national parks (Sierra Nevada where you can ski in winter, Grazalema, Donyana). Located in a quiet white traditional side street with ample free parking, the house has two terraces with views over the sea, the hills and the valley below, a terraced garden with fruit trees (collect your own oranges, lemons and avocados and enjoy the scent of jasmin at night), a large living-room, a dining-room, three double bedrooms, two modern bathrooms (one en suite), a well equipped marble topped modern kitchen and adjacent utility room, a shaded dining terrace off the dining room and a small patio. A large electric boiler supplies hot water efficiently throughout, there is a powerful wood-burning stove in the living-room and radiators for the other rooms in winter, a digital TV , DVD, Hi-Fi, WIFI broadband. The house is also equipped with children in mind with high a chair, baby cot, safety gate to the garden stairs, beach toys and board games. Guests are very welcome to suggest further items to furnish the house for a quality family time.

A lovely and cozy house in a peaceful and friendly small town in the mountains. Everything was clean and proper, kitchen had everything (ok, maybe a frying machine would be lovely to have) and the TV had sometimes problems with connecting to some channels. But given that you are on holiday and do not expect to spend time in front of the box this was a minor inconvenience. Excellent garden with lemon and avocado trees. The place you dream of if you relish quiet and affable people. Very attractive historical downtown. All of my family members loved it.

Experience village life

  • 4 of 5

After visiting Frigiiana for a few hours last year we decided that we would like to experience living in this beautiful village and so rented this lovely little town house. We were attracted by the photographs showing a rustic style house, in a great location within the village. We were very pleased when we arrived to be met by Lola who showed us around the property... it was exactly as the photographs, perfect for our 13 night stay, with all the comforts we needed. It has the feel of a real home, not a rental property, with many nice touches and pottery on display adding to the charm. Parking is in the little street and we never failed to park more than 20 yards from the front door. The house was clean, tidy and well maintained - an easy place to relax. There are a number of lovely restaurants on the doorstep so a car is never needed unless you are going out of the village. During our stay there was a festival Dia de la Cruz where dancers, singers and musicians performed at each of the Crosses (Cruz) which the villagers had made. There was food and drinks for all supplied by the villages...it was a wonderful 6 hours following the performers and enjoying the atmosphere. Nerja is a simple 15 mins away if you are looking for the coast and holiday destination. Easy drives to Alhama and also Granada are well worth a day trip. The owner was quick and efficient in dealing with our booking, offered good advice and had a local representative who met us at the property and at the end of the stay. She was available to us throughout the stay should any issues arise. If you are looking for a relaxed stay, in the village we would thoroughly recommend this property. The only point to bear in mind is that the property does not have a safe, so we kept our passports on us at all times.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. The village is very safe and friendly, the house is secure: we never experienced any theft in the past 40 years but your suggestion of a strong box in the house is welcome and I shall endeavour to place one in the house for my guests' travel documents and personal valuables.

Wonderful summer stay in Frigliana

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful 10-day stay in Frigliana, at this home that is full of charm and character. It was exactly what we were looking for. The back patio provides a beautiful shaded spot for having meals and hanging out with family and friends. There are abundant fruit trees and grape vines. The roof-top deck was always sunny, with nice vistas towards the hills and coast. The interior is charmingly decorated and very functional. Everything was tidy and in good order upon arrival.

Frigliana itself is a great little town, with many good restaurants and shops, pretty white-washed buildings and walkways, and very nice people and a relaxed vibe. The beach town of Nerja is a quick 5 minute drive down the hill.

The location is suitable to use as a base to explore many cities in the South of Spain. We made day trips to Malaga, Ronda, Cordoba, and Grenada, and felt that all these drives were quite manageable (1-2 hours).

Lastly, the proprietor Francoise was super helpful both prior to and following our trip. Thank you for a wonderful summer in Spain! If we are lucky enough to make it back to this area in the future, we will definitely stay here again!

We found the house was in a very central location

  • 5 of 5

The property was clean and tidy on arrival and furnished and decorated to a tradditioal style which we loved,it is very conveniently located for restaurants and shops. We walked to the old town where there are lots of cobbled streets and quaint little houses. The house is a short drive away from several lovely beaches. At the end of the day we would sit on the patio to watch the sun setting with a glass of Rioja. Will be booking again next year to explor the area further. A beautiful house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 10 day break staying in this house. It's in a fantastic location with lovely views, especially from the upper terrace and is a very short walk from the centre of Frigiliana where there are many restaurants/ bars/ shops etc. It has all the necessary cooking facilities and utensils that you might need and is extremely well maintained being very clean and tidy. The house is a 5-10 minute drive from the centre of Nerja and various beaches and only 2.5 hours from the beautiful city of Granada where we went to visit the Alhambra one day. It's also near one of Spain National Parks so it is ideal for trekking too. I would highly recommend staying in this beautiful house, it really feels like a home from home with everything that you might need during your stay.

Burriana Nerja
Car: recommended

Our traditional Spanish house is in the typical Andalusian white Moorish village of Frigiliana, winner of national awards for its beauty and historical interest, on a hill 3 miles from Nerja on the Costa del Sol. We supply links/maps of how to find the house and where shops/restaurants are in Frigiliana at the time of your booking. A photoshoot walk along the meandering ancient narrow streets of the village is an unforgetable experience. This unique village is 10 minutes drive from the traditional Andalusian town of Nerja, full of typical restaurants, shops and beautiful sea-views over the bay of the 'Balcon de Europa', and the myriads of fine, sandy beaches nearby, including the famous Burriana beach where you can enjoy excellent paellas and sea-food, your feet in the sand. Frigiliana boasts wonderful Mediterranean walks in the hills and river valleys around. Its week-long Festival of The 3 Cultures in late August, its Christmas and Easter processions by candelights are very recommended. Two kms from Nerja is the major tourist attraction of the vast Cuevas de Nerja with beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations. The unforgettable sites of Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba, Ronda, Archidona are within 2/3 hours by car, and lively Malaga, with its handsome bay, central park and castle, is just one hour away. About the same distance as Granada are the ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada, and not much further afield are the beautiful national parks of Donyana, Cazorla, Grazalema, and Cabo de Gata.

Other Activities: 1-3 hours drive to major tourist attractions of Malaga Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba; 2 hours to ski slopes of Sierra Nevada to the north , or the Rock of Gibraltar to the south; 3-4 hours to national parks. We keep in our house a bank of brochures for you to explore this region.

A full inventory of the house equipment will be given at the time of the booking. Equipment is constantly upgraded: for instance this mid 2016 season there are 3 new electrical fans in the house, a new vacuum cleaner, a new micro oven, etc. The downstairs bedroom is best suited to adults and adolescents as it is reached from the open staircase leading to the terraced garden: like most of the older houses in the village that are at least 60 years old, this room is the old 'donkey room' transformed into a bedroom after donkeys and goats started to disappear from daily village life in the 70s. Considered their 'den' in summer by teenagers it is not suitable for young children who need to be supervised. In winter, older people may find it unsuitable as the nearest bathroom is upstairs via the open staircase. However it is cool in summer and is equipped with a raditor for the winter and enjoy maximum privacy.
