Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 8

Delight in a comfortable and value filled stay for your group in this very private suburban Cul De Sac Home. Spacious rooms yet cozy enough to draw everyone together. Comes with 2 car garage for added privacy and weather comfort. Has sun room at rear for meditation and Gym activities for health and physical recreation. This is a green zone so amenities are tastefully placed without over abundance. Very kid friendly place with miniature tree house, swings and play space within direct window view and docile neighbor youths to play along. Also has child proofed closets and power outlets.

Directly backs to wooded oasis with deer and bamboo forest for those who want quiet solace from the DC buzz and Inspirational moments with nature or romantic quality time, yet the place is only a quick 5 min drive or bus hop (# 30) to Branch Ave Metro station.

So much nearby. From the new National Harbor and waterfront resorts, Tangier Outlets and of course Andrews Air Force Base . A short drive and you are close enough to see Air Force 1 takeoff and land, yet west of the flight path and jet stream path so all you hear is low rumbles at best. During May and September, you get to see the blue angels practice flight formations prior to memorial day and Fall air shows for free. Have it all for everyone- Neaby Allenwood recreation park and Allentown senior community center for catching up and entertaining with the local senior gentry.

If you have business in DC, you can easily do the metro or the bus. If you are a more than 3 people, you may find it cheaper to drive and park there. Not sure what to do? Turn your boring weekend into a retreat or book Washington DC and see the vast tax payer- funded free museums and capital of the western world power-brokers, then get away from it all in the evening. During fall season, enjoy nights at the Washington National Harbor with spectacular Woodrow Wilson Bridge west views from the wheel or just walk the bridge.

Stocked welcome Fruit basket and fresh breakfast assortment included. (Please pick your choice when booking for convenience). There are 2 major groceries stores 3 mins away - Giant on 1 side and International German foods ALDI on the other- but if you don't want to spend your vacation lining up in queues, then there is many fast eateries nearby or do the great Italian restaurant everyone raves about - Topolinos, a 3 min drive.

Don't be fooled by the low price. My low costs means your low price -im passing over the savings to you or you can shop at the next guy and pay 30 or 50% more just to cover poor debt- ratios and inflated mortgages.

All in all, you will be grateful and glad you did the visit in home-style and tour DC away from the drab, costly and cold hotel experience.

bad rental

  • 1 of 5

I only gave 1 star because I could not give less. I knew the house was older, not a problem. The backyard had broken glass, bottle caps, poison ivy growing, a play area unfit for kids, exposed nails, etc. Inside one of the bed frames was broken, washing machine that didn't work right, a shower that leaked, lights not useable, poorly supplied cooking items in kitchen, oh.. the grill was disgusting and filthy. And neighbors that kept everyone up until 2:pm with a band playing. Never will I book with you again.

Much more spacious than photos portray, accommodating owner, quiet convenient neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

The house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. During our two night stay, we only witnessed one other person on the block (who was very gracious in saying hello) and we tried our best to be respectful of the temperament around us. Indoors, the house has much larger rooms than the pictures would have you believe, and overall was in much better repair than some prior reviews would suggest. I think that there is just no pleasing some people. The owner, Al, was more than accommodating, answered all emails within hours, and even went so far as to retrieve one of our group's forgotten coat from the closet and ship it to us! Overall the weekend could not have gone better and I would be thrilled if all my experiences with VRBO go so smoothly. Stellar service, a clean and well-kept house (with the most laid-back checkout procedure I've encountered), and a great location convenient to Branch Ave Metro. Al was a great host and I would recommend this house to any larger families or groups seeking a quiet "home base" from which to venture out into the city.

Great size for large family vacation in a quiet neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

The owner responded quickly before, during, and after our stay to questions. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay and made us feel very welcome. If we need a place to stay around DC again, will definitely check this house first.

Be Aware

  • 2 of 5

The rental price of this property is a great value for a family traveling to Washington DC but be aware of what you are really getting when you stay here. The owner, Al, was very congenial and quick to respond when I first contacted him about renting the property but as our arrival date got closer, his responses were delayed and confusing. I was very fearful we were being scammed because the day before our arrival I still did not know how we would get a key to access the property. I have rented vacation properties through VRBO several times in the past and always had very clear information (verbal and written) from property owners even months before our arrival so I was very concerned. Finally, the night before our arrival, Al finally emailed me information about where to find the key.

When we arrived, the outside of the property looked like the online pictures. It was very late, but the neighborhood seemed to be fairly nice and quiet, as described. Once we got inside, it was a very different story. I wasn't expecting luxury but I was hoping for clean and well-maintained. The property was neither of these. I'm not going to go into detail about all of the problems but will highlight some of the major issues. The stairs were not safe at all. The carpet was very loose so it was hard to get proper footing and you could feel the tack strips underneath. The "sun room" was leaky and had a deformed piece of plywood serving as a door. All of the floors upstairs creaked every time you moved and the beds did the same. The tub in the "master bath" is a poorly fitted insert and moves under your feet as you are showering. Also the cheap plastic shower curtain was filthy at the bottom. The air conditioner is undersized for the house so we could not keep the upstairs comfortable. Two of the bedrooms have ceiling fans, which helped, but one ran on a remote control which had dead batteries. We found a battery downstairs with just enough power to turn the fan on but that was about it.

The owner also filed a claim, with the damage insurance we purchased, for a new TV. He claimed that we disconnected cables and damaged the TV. However, the TV did not function properly from the minute we first turned it on.

Overall, the house was very poorly "remodeled" and did not feel clean and comfortable. I learned my lesson with this one. Often a really "good deal" is too good to be true. Do your research and make sure you know what you are getting.

Owner's Response: There's 2 sides to every story, so Ill respond and you decide. After dealing with this group, Im upset but not surprised. Against better judgment, I let them in ignoring warning signs. The aftermath -stuck with damages, claims headaches and inflated reviews. At pre-stay Gwen was notified well in advance it was OK to arrive late from Indiana as door entry would be provided on-site. I explained to her the exact door access/info codes are not provided until a few days before checkin for security reasons, esp when another family was present. She got riled up despite assurances and my cell no, told homeaway she wasnt being replied to and sent incessant emails. This is where I shouldve just said -keep your $ but felt it'd ruin their vacation so sent entry info. Email reviews show she had that info on the 16th (check-in was 19th folks).Saying she was clueless and feared a scam the night before check-in is just a plain lie. If being scammed has you worried, I couldve shown you the real mega-scams inside the beltway on your taxes. Letting someone in your place with a grudge against you is a bad idea like inviting a bull in a china shop. I got a whole lot of bull.During their stay, they made a point to be rude to my neighbors and kids, taking things out on innocent parties and creating strife in the area. After leaving, had to apologize for their behavior. There's more..during cleanup it was reported that cables were lying detached from TV. (CCTV surveillance cables connect to main TV for live monitoring).Turns out someone had attempted to stop the recording and removed cables. On further check, we realized the TV display was trashed. When confronted, they denied none of their 6 couldve done it.First saying they were aware cables were off then said they assumed TV was like that so they didnt report it. Plausible -except I personally was there the day before check-in and it was OK. The low part is wanting to deny my reimbursement despite having bought insurance. How low is that?Well, thats my learning lesson fellow hosts -offer guests checklists to review or accept all works. An Insurance claim is just that -a claim. Deposits now needed. Thankfully after showing proof pics/messages it was clear toanyone this was someone with a vendetta. These other potshots are just extreme efforts to discredit a host. A/C works well unless you've a condition or going through some phase. For normal adults, stairs wont buckle under your weight; bathtub wont wobble n bed wont unhinge

The house is in an ideal location for all of Washington D.C. tourist destinations so if that is what you and your family are going to do, choose this house! The owner added little touches to make you feel at home throughout the experience as well as, the home is fully up-to-date with all modern conveniences. For the price, location, and even the adorable neighbourhood, this home is a WIN WIN.
