NEWLY REFURBISHED! Come explore the beautiful north woods of Maine from your home away from home on the shore of pristine Moosehead Lake. The house sits on Harfords Point, which juts out into the southern end of Moosehead Lake, just minutes from Greenville. Start the morning with a cup of coffee on the dock overlooking Scammon Ridge and Elephant Mountain. In spring, summer and fall, enjoy hiking, bird watching, kayaking, fishing and water sports throughout the day. Fall asleep to the sound of crying loons and crashing waves. Winter brings snowmobiling, ice fishing, snow shoeing, cross-country and downhill skiing. Winter prices and minimum stays have been reduced.
Below is a link to a web camera that looks at Harford's Point. The point sticks out toward the camera. Our house is on the right side of the point as you look at it.
Scott and Jana are fabulous to deal. The house was amazing and better than pictured or described. Convenient to everything in the area. Thanks for a great experience!
The owners are easy to work with and will gladly answer any question you may have. The photos of the inside of the cabin and the surrounding outdoors are accurate. You do need to take a short walk to the private beach but it wasn't an issue for us. The cabin was neat and clean. There is a skinny, spiral wood staircase on the inside of the cabin to access the basement level and I needed to take my time (knees) but it was doable.
We wanted a place to retreat and relax away from the busyness of our lives and this was just the right place! We cooked most of our meals here (well equipped kitchen - even iron skillets, crockpot, and plenty of other cookware) but Greenville was just a short distance with a great grocery store and good prices. The shops and restaurants are quaint, "touristy," but small town wonderful and a decent price for pizzas, sandwiches and home-cooked menus. There's even a few coffee shops!
The wi-fi at the cabin was never spotty and Direct TV gave us plenty to choose from - football and the World Series - in particular. The quiet of the surrounding woods and the lapping of the water against the shore were our favorites. We felt safe and loved the privacy.
At this time of year we had snow showers five days in a row and just caught the end of the beautiful foliage. Being from Cincinnati, we didn't think to bring warm clothes which limited our taking a lot of walks.
We highly recommend this cabin to you!
Great location! Quiet and peaceful! Beach was great for small children, easier than dock! Pet friendly, right down to dog bowls and leash, in case you forgot yours! Would definitely recommend!
The home was an exceptional choice for our first family vacation since 1989. My mother successfully battled breast cancer over this past winter and it really prompted us to ensure we all stop and enjoy the small moments. So with my parents in their early sixties, and me and my sister in our mid-thirties, we all gathered as a family and had a wonderful week in the house, and truly created lasting memories.
It's a perfect distance from Greenville, but feels fairly secluded when sitting on the deck, enjoying a coffee and watching the Katadin float by on its daily cruise. The private beach and boat launch are wonderful and literally across the street, with amazing swimming right off the dock at camp as well. Scott and Jana are very responsive to any questions or needs.
If you are reading these reviews to see if this is the one, I can say with confidence that you won't regret your stay.
My husband and I and our four children enjoyed a wonderful week of rest and relaxation in Maine! This was our first time up here and this rental home was perfect for us! The two bedrooms with bunks on one side of the home was perfect for the kids and the master suite on the other end with the sliding doors to the deck overlooking the lake for us and the lower level family room gave a lot of extra space! The home was very clean and well maintained. The owners were very good with communication from the minute we booked through check out, they answered all of our questions in a timely fashion. We enjoyed hiking and fishing during our stay...Northwoods Outfitters in town was very helpful and we got our fishing licenses there and also rented canoes. There was a little ice cream shop in town, Kineo Coffee Station and some cute gift shops. There was a small grocery store also so we were able to buy whatever we needed there to cook meals in the rental. This property had everything we needed for a wonderful family vacation...Thank you!! We are looking forward to vacationing here again...
A perfect location to enjoy snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing, hiking, hunting, boating, fishing, ATV riding, kayaking, paddle boarding, and moose watching.
