Local Faves
Green Eggs Café
First, breakfast. We recommend a (cash-only) place called Green Eggs Café. It's worth the 5-minute walk and is a great way to wake up and get going. The café has a super friendly ambience and is notorious for serving huge portions, so come hungry. The Green Eggs menu offers such breakfast yumyums as Pecan Pie French Toast, Creole Shrimp with Grits , and Crab Cake Benedict. All SO good! Stop in for a Breakfast Burrito to eat on the go, or sit yourself down to our favorite, Green Egg's huge stack of Cookie Dough Stuffed French Toast!
5-Minute Walk
MilkBoy Philadelphia
A stylin' bar, restaurant, and live music venue in one, MilkBoy is the creation of local music industry pros and a popular local Philly chef. So, yeah, good food and great music, together. MilkBoy has an upstairs music venue that boasts an impressive lineup of local and nationally known talent, plus two bars and food options all day that are as good as the music. Not just a stellar nightclub, Milkboy is as popular at 3am as it is at 7am when it opens to serve breakfast, with lunch and dinner options later, plus happy hour. MilkBoy even offers great pub grub into the wee hours when the music's thumping. The drink menu sports one of Philly's better beer selections, with a assortment of craft beers on draft and a variety of hot and chilled cocktails.
2-Minute Walk
Capogiro Gelato Artisans
There isn't a better way to follow up that delicious meal at one of Philly's great restaurants than a scoop (or two or three) of artisan ice cream at Capogiro. With a respectful nod toward quality, Capogiro adheres strictly to the rule of “artigianale.” What is that? Some Italian tradition that says EVERYTHING has to be made in-house, not just the bases, not just the cones, but the flavorings, too. Whatever. It works for us. Capogiro boasts 385 flavors on rotation with dozens of options every day. We recommend the Ananas con Sage or the Golden Pineapple. Or, try out the Bacio Chocolate-Hazelnut gelato. It's laden with delectably caramelized crushed hazelnuts. Hello!
3-Minute Walk
Insomnia Cookies
Oh lordy! You've got some late-night munchies and don't want to put on your shoes or even think about going out that door. Insomnia Cookies has your back. You order online or by phone, and they deliver warm cookie treats in just minutes. (Though, understand that Insomnia is just a 3-minute walk from your condo and they do walk-in orders, too, if you're in need a short stroll.) The fine Insomnia menu boasts package deals of 6, 12, 18 and 24 tasty cookies of your choice, with almost all traditional possibilities available. Along with cookies, Insomnia will bring you to-die-for cookie sandwiches packed with, you guessed right, ice cream, in the middle of two somehow-still-warm cookies. Oh my! Insomnia Cookies is open from 10am to 3am weekdays and noon to 3 am on weekends.

Booking the perfect stay shouldn't feel like taking a shot in the dark. At Stay Alfred, we know that guests prefer accommodations that are straight-forward and stress-free.
This is a great place to stay in the heart of Philadelphia. It is within walking distance to most everything we wanted to see. The apartment was clean, well stocked for a vacation place and very secure. I don't like to be up, dressed and out the door in time for breakfast when I am on vacation. The well-equipped kitchen let us enjoy our morning and coffee before heading out to see the sights. Like all big cities, there is street noise but nothing out of the ordinary for staying in the heart of a city. I would stay here again and will check out Stay Alfred locations for other places I travel.
Door to washer/dryer fell off. Coffee pot has a broken off lip. It's safe to use but some may balk. Socket to right of kitchen sink sprang apart when I pushed around the socket. Helicopters landing on top of Jeff a block away fascinating to me, not so my husband who likes quiet.
Location is perfect with shopping, dining and access to transportation near by. The unit was wonderful for our needs and very comfortable.
The property had a very comfortable amount of space and was in great condition. Concierge was helpful. As people have stated, it can be a bit noisy at night—that seemed to vary, night to night—but earplugs took care of it. Some of that is to be expected downtown in a major city.
Great condo. Clean and well-maintained. Only complaint was that the sofa and beds weren't very comfortable. Not the worst, but could definitely use an upgrade. Everything else was great. Checking in was easy as pie, building staff were nice, and the location is amazing. We walked to Independence Hall and there was a Target and great restaurants all within a 5 minute walk.
I have to agree with other reviews. the place is centrally located in center city. the noise did not bother me but you do hear street noise at times during the night. I thought it would be worse than what it was. the view is great, people at the front desk are great. I found the place and the beds very comfortable. the table in the kitchen area does still need to be fixed. a little wobbly but it did not bother us. we never had dinner there.
