Born and raised in Southern Illinois, I love the outdoors and enjoy horseback riding, cattle ranching, fishing and hunting, and spending time with my family. I am a heavy equipment operator and business owner in Southern Illinois.
Charlie & Brystal Pinnon purchased this cabin in 2012
Growing up here and loving the beautiful rolling hills of Southern Illinois and its variety of attractions I want to share it with others who would like to getaway from their everyday lives to relax and unwind.
We are on the Shawnee Hills wine trail an incredible tour for those who like something unique to our area, this is an unbelievable experience of countryside, great wine and people. The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail features 13 wineries, 13 experiences, located 10 minutes of one another and surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest.
The 278,537 acres of natural beauty in the Shawnee National Forest is ideal for outdoor recreation. The forest landscape features rolling hills, forests, open lands, lakes, creeks and rugged bluffs. The forest has a system of 403 miles of equestrian/hiking trails, camping and picnic areas.
Or you may opt to stay in at Cedar Sunset Cabin for your private soak in the hot tub and incredible views of the sunset over the lake with a cozy evening by the fireplace.
We had a nice peaceful stay for our anniversary. The cabin was clean and nicely secluded. The hot tub was great and very private. I would recommend to others. There are wineries nearby and restaurants within a short drive. We had good meals at Giant City Lodge and the Brick House restaurant in Anna.
Nestled away privacy with lovely vistas - forest, water, cows! Close enough to enjoy all the area has to offer with wine trail, orchards, unique shops and Giant City State Park - then come back and relax on the porch with your wine or brewery finds. Interior is very nice, well-kept and comfortable. We stayed 2 nights in the cabin and cooked some local finds on the gas grill both nights. Pots/pans a little limited but doable. There is a hot tub on the back porch - but way too hot during our visit to enjoy. Everything handled by App - we were given access information and contact info for issues (of which we had none). Very quiet and relaxing spot - would stay again.
The cabin is easy to get to , but still peaceful and secluded. Nice modern touches yet feels like home.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Cedar Sunset Cabin for our family reunion. Everything was just as described. And the best feature of all was a beautiful view of the sunset every evening from either the wrap around porch or the living room. It was very peaceful and quiet. And while the cabin is snuggled into the countryside, it was just a short distance to everything that you need. During our stay we had a chance to visit Giant City State Park and three of the 12 local wineries (Owl Creek, Blue Sky, & Orlandini), all within 5 minutes of the cabin. We had a great time at all four sites! The only downside to our stay at the Cedar Sunset Cabin was when we had to leave. I would definitely recommend this property to my family and friends.
This was our second visit to the cabin. Private, peaceful, and serene. Watching the cows graze as the sun sets. Nicely appointed cabin with all the amenities you need to cook easy meals or grill out. Great hot tub. Golf at the Hickory Ridge golf course in Carbondale (about 45 minute drive), grocery shopping in Anna (10 minute drive), and the Shawnee wine trail! Great times. Zip lining is about 10 minutes away too. Would definitely return again.
