9 Porters Gate is a new air conditioned town house on the beautiful West Coast of the island minutes from the beach. The spacious ground floor is open plan leading onto a tropical patio with it's own plunge pool. The modern kitchen is ideal for conjuring up those Caribbean culinary delights. Choose to eat at either the breakfast bar or at the dining table or maybe dine outside where you may spot a monkey on the fence or a humming bird hovering at the Hibiscus! Relax on comfortable sofas and maybe watch DVD's or listen to your favourite track on the ipod dock. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, balcony, dressing room and en suite bathroom with a marble vanity area and a corner bath. The second bedroom has twin beds, balcony and en suite bathroom with a walk in shower and marble vanity unit. The tranquil secure development consists of 28 town houses, has a communal swimming pool and tennis court.

Additional Services:: We aim to make your stay on the island as pleasurable and trouble free as possible. To this end our local representative will meet you at the house during your stay and introduce you to the property and it's features. We arrange a once weekly maid / cleaning service with fresh linen provided. Additional maids' visits can also be arranged along with taxi / car hire should the requirement be needed. A taxi can also be arranged to meet you at the airport if you do not wish to hire a car. Our local representative will discuss any requirements you may have when you arrive and will always be on hand to help with any queries or recommendations you may have. Any additional services you may wish to use will be charged for locally.

The development does not provide any form of pool supervision and caution must be therefore taken at all times with younger children at both pool areas. A safe is provided along with a telephone (local calls are free but international calls are barred from this handset) WiFi is provided. Please note that electricity IS NOT included in the rental cost and is charged on a 'pay as you use' basis at £22.00 per 100 units used. Typical average use for a two week stay, using the air conditioning sensibly, is between 300 - 400 units.This system is in use to deter guests from leaving the air conditioning on all day with the windows wide open whilst relaxing at the beach!! Please note that the check out time on your day of departure is 12.00 noon.

Excellent

Having returned from a fabulous holiday in Barbados which was made all the more special by staying at Richard and Wendy's beautiful home, we were met at the airport by Raphael and driven the short journey to our lovely holiday home where we were greeted by Rachael who gave us a detailed tour, which made us feel immediately at home. The house was so well equipped it really was home from home. We spent many a happy hour on the back veranda enjoying a glass of wine and the occasional cool down in the dip pool.

*Richard & Rachael went the extra mile*

I was having difficulty getting tickets for the West Indies v England cricket match at the Kensington Oval so Richard asked Rachael if she could help, needless to say two tickets were waiting for us on our arrival.

We certainly intend to return in the not too distant future.

As the title says, excellent, from the initial booking request, dealing with Wendy and Richard to the pre -stay information and arrangements for airport pick up to arrival at the house all was just perfect and totally hassle free, both Rachel and Raphael could not have been more helpful.

The house was absolutely as described and spotlessly clean with everything on hand for a most enjoyable time.

The location was fantastic with the best beach just a few minutes walk away, and local bars close buy.

We had a most wonderful time.

Many thanks to Wendy and Richard.

We shall most definitely recommend to our family and friends and if back in Barbados will book again!

Location! Location! Location!

This roomy townhouse in a wonderful location makes you feel like you are living in Barbados, not just visiting.

The home has two large bedrooms, each with their own full bathroom. The downstairs open floor plan gives a family plenty of space. 9 Porters Gate has a well equipped kitchen and a lovely outdoor space with a dunking pool. We ate every meal out there. The property manager, Rachel, is always available for all your questions or needs.

The location of 9 Porters Gate is superb. Removed from road noise, it is nice and quiet. A short stroll puts you on the very best beaches of Thw west coast of Barbados. Situated close to Holetown, and not far from Speightstown enables a visitor to sample two authentic towns with wonderful restaurants and stores.

We rented a car which made things convenient but a bus stop and the bottom of the road is very close.

We had a wonderful holiday here and expect to return.

Everything you could need at 9 Porters Gate

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at Porters Gate! The owners were easy to get ahold of via VRBO and planning was great from the start. Their property manager, Rachel (very nice and helpful) met us the night of our arrival and gave us a tour of the home. The owners helped to arrange a driver, Raphael, from the airport whom was waiting for us when we walked out of the airport. His price was reasonable and he was very friendly so we arranged for a ride back as well. The small community of townhomes at Porters was nice and quiet and safe. The kids enjoyed the tennis courts and the community pool. There was plenty of room in the townhome and the open concept living dining kitchen was our favourite place to read, relax and eat our meals with the big French doors open to the lovely back yard. We also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds while enjoying our morning coffee. The location to Holetown was great as was the closeness Gibbes our favourite beach. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and we ate all meals except for two at home with grocery stores within a few minutes drive and the fish monger along the same drive. The air conditioning in the bedrooms worked great for comfortable sleeping and it was nice having laundry facilities that we could use. The wifi was better than ours at home! We had a wonderful time and are very thankful that Wendy and Richard allowed us to stay in their Barbados home! Thank you and best wishes

A Villa With Everything

The villa is in a really well-kept complex in a quiet position about 300 yards from the main road. The furnishings, and especially the pictures and knick-knacks, are all in lovely taste and the villa is kept immaculately clean. The patio area with the plunge pool is perfect with colourful shrubs and bushes attracting humming birds, bees and butterflies - it was very peaceful and nicely shaded for most of the day.

I won't describe the facilities and equipment as it's fair to say that I couldn't think of anything that wasn't there, from cool boxes to beach chairs to plug adaptors to glasses of every sort. Brilliant!

The villa is bright, airy and really spacious and was a lovely relaxing place to come back to after a day at the beach or a hard day's shopping.

I really think that you need a car if you stay here. It may be a 10 minute walk to the nearest sea but this is a very thin piece of sand affected by the tides. The nearest 'proper' beach is a 20 minute walk, most of which is alongside the main road. There is a bus stop just at the bottom of the lane from the villa so that is great for trips to Holetown, Bridgetown etc if you don't have a car.

We would really recommend 2 restaurants on the beach about 15 minutes walk north from the villa. Ju Jus is right on the beach and is cheap and cheerful, whereas Lone Star is very classy and beautiful as well as very expensive!

Porters Gate - A Fantastic Property

We had a terrific 10 days in Barbados at Porters Gate. It was just perfect! We have rented a number of properties over the years and this is by far the best we have ever had.

It was a great base for us and with the hire car saw all of the Island, as well as enjoying the local beaches and JuJu's Beach Bar on a number of occasions.

Porters Gate and the complex was perfect for us and our 2 teenage boys! The location was close to the beach and Hopetown, and as the Island isn't big, we managed to see a lot in our stay!

Thanks again for letting us rent your property! We were delighted with our visit.

Barbados has near perfect weather, direct flights and old world charm. The townhouse at St James is perfectly positioned minutes from stunning beaches on the West Coast and the shopping amenities at nearby Holetown. Many water sports are available including snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing, water-skiing and four fabulous golf courses are in close proximity. Swim in warm crystal clear waters see the turtles or maybe chilll out at a local beach bar. The Lone Star Restaurant, the Ivy of the Caribbean, is two minutes by car and is a fabulous treat for lunch or dinner! Amenities such as banks, bars, supermarket, post-office, medical centre, cyber cafe and duty free shopping are all but a half a mile away. There are many beach front restaurants catering for all budgets lining the palm fringed shoreline. A stop at Second Street in Holetown is a must for those who wish to dance into the small hours.
