About Jason

I call Lost River, WV home. I'm here just shy of full time. I work as a nurse at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital three days a week, the other four I try to spend in Lost River.

Jason purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Jason chose Lost River

Nearly every property in Lost River has a great view, but they are all different. When I was looking at properties, I kept coming back to this house. It sits at the base of large ridge (which in part is why I named the cabin Base Camp), while still having great views of the valley and surrounding mountains. I remember walking into the the house for the first time and thinking, "this is awesome." The main living area was completely open, had wide plank pine floors, and the kitchen had beautiful cherry craftsman cabinets.

This cabin is accessible in the winter. During my property search, I rented a couple different cabins on the weekends that I came out to look at houses and quickly discovered that during the winter months, some of the properties are difficult to access, even with four wheel drive vehicles.

Base Camp is the perfect retreat due to its views and location. It is secluded, but close to enough to the main road into Lost River, trails, and restaurants).

Beautiful Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely stunning home in the West Va mountains. Decor and furnishings are first rate. A beautiful deck surrounds both levels on the home and provides great views of the surroundings. Very modern appointments and upscale touches throughout the home make it comfortable and extremely livable. Close to great hiking and outdoor activities.

Getting lost n lost city :)

  • 5 of 5

I consider myself as cabin savvy, I love exploring different cabins and we take these getaway weekends quite often. That's why I thought this cabin will not surprise me, they are all great aren't they? well, I was pleasantly surprised, and here are the reasons why:

1. The cabin has something for everyone, the living room is spacious, the kitchen is great (will get a whole new section later), there are two open decks and one deck with screens (perfect for a bug hater like me), it has tons of sitting areas, the rooms are big with bathroom & shower and another full bathroom on the top floor (the main floor).

2. The kitchen - I've never seen such a stocked kitchen in a cabin! the cabinets are full of every piece of equipment you can think of and then some. grill equipment, Tupperware to keep your food, spices, all the electric sidekicks you can think of (from waffle maker to kitchen aid) - perfecto!

3. The vibe - it feels like someone went through every wish you can have during a weekend getaway, and made it happen, so you will feel right at home. from the guitar on the wall, to the books and magazines, and even remotes tom light up the outdoors candles. The patio furniture is perfect for relaxing with the gorgeous view, and the deck is just the right spot for your morning yoga.

4. The showers - so clean, with the small essentials that make you feel at home like qtips and body lotion, every shower had a full stock of shampoo & conditioner and they were all spotless. They even places bran new candles for the romantic folks.

5. The owner - super nice and easy to communicate with, the house instructions are simple and you do not need to bring anything with you (like linen/towels at other cabins). We asked to leave late on the Sunday and immediately received an answer saying stay as long as you need!

6. The nearby town and different attractions are great and you have a sweet coffee shop just down the road, the Guest house is also great for a fancy dinner, and just 15 min. walk from the cabin.

I can go on, but I will let you find out for yourselves.

We will definitely be back!

Thank you Jason for this fabulous weekend!

wonderful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Just back from 3 days at this charming "cabin" Hardly a cabin, and hardly rustic. It is immaculate, kitchen has more equipment than mine at home, everything there for you to relax including a big pile of magazines, lots of comfy furniture on the decks, binoculars, games, you won't want to leave the premises. Jason is a terrific host.

Peaceful, comfortable, great location!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is gorgeous and has all the amenities you could ask for. It is comfortable and peaceful. The weather was great during our stay so we spent the majority of our time while at the cabin lounging on the decks enjoying the excellent view.

Not only is the cabin itself great, but we really enjoyed the location as well. It's secluded enough to feel like you're away from it all, but also close to some really neat local attractions. We enjoyed a wonderful yoga class at Lost River Yoga, and checked out the nearby farmers market. Wolf Gap Recreation Area was a short drive away where we hiked up to Big Schloss, then stopped at the Lost River Brewing Company in Wardensville on our way back in.

Jason was a helpful and attentive host. We didn't have any issues with the cabin or booking process, but I imagine Jason would have been very helpful if we had. We definitely hope to return soon! Thank you!!

Beautiful cabin, beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is pretty fantastic all around. Well furnished, thoughtful details, well stocked. Spent just about the entire time on the wraparound deck, moving to a different area when it would get a bit too warm. Can't wait to go back!

Stunning cabin getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and two of our friends recently stayed here for a short vacation, and it was wonderful. The cabin was pristine and has all modern amenities (gorgeous bathrooms, large bedrooms, gas fireplace, fully equipped, clean kitchen) that made it an extremely comfortable stay. The views from the cabin itself are beautiful, and there are several options for enjoying the outdoors (open-air deck areas with seating, large screened-in porch area with comfortable seating for many, an outdoor fire pit.) There is great walking/hiking nearby. Additionally, the Lost River area is perfect for a rustic getaway. We tried several local eateries and enjoyed the small downtown area including the brewery/restaurant. This is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation to enjoy the scenic views indoors and out.
