Why Maria Isotalo chose Gibbes
Gibbs Glade Villa is beautifully designed to provide a wonderfully spacious and relaxed living area, with simple symmetry, both inside and out with a high degree of privacy. It is a calm and tranquil oasis, set in a peaceful neighbourhood, with a almost constant gentle breeze and is within easy walking of one of the islands best kept secrets, the idyllic Gibbs bay.

This was the perfect way to celebrate my 35thbirthday with my girls. From start to finish everything was perfection starting with Maria who answered every email quickly and always kept in touch. We went with Maria’s suggestion of purchasing fast track which was totally worth it. We were greeted by a member of the fast track team and personally escorted through customs with a breeze. He even watched our luggage while we shopped at duty free. We were then greeted by our driver Donald (more on him later) who took us to our villa. The pictures didn’t do this place justice. It was perfectly manicured, clean and quiet. Tonya the property manager took us on a tour and her daughter was gorgeous. We also had Tonya shop for us in advance so we had a few things to eat after a day of traveling but we ended up going to the store for a few more things. We each had our own ensuite bathroom which was perfect for us with the exception of the room with the twin beds having the bathroom accessible to the main living area. The next day we met Natalie and Trevor who I believed to secretly be ninjas. They inflated pool toys and cleaned the rooms. We basically lived at the pool which was 4ft 8in deep throughout. The star of the trip was our driver Donald. He gave us tours of the island including where the Queen Rihanna stays and showing us the most expensive house for sale. He always made sure we were safe even if it meant going out of his way or keeping him out late. We felt bad for calling him late but he always answered and picked us up with a smile. He brought us mangos from his tree that we wish we could’ve brought back. He truly made us feel like family. We decided to go on the Good Times Catamaran which was so fun. I can’t swim but I got my butt in that ocean and saw the most beautiful sea turtles and fish. The beach was a short walk and we took advantage of the Mullins beach club access. Although we got there a bit late, the staff was still accommodating. Oistins is a must on Friday night (The snapper at Mo’s is to die for) by far the best meal we had the entire trip. Donald took us to a small restaurant to grab some food before we left. It was so good we all fell asleep going to the airport. Overall I had a very memorable birthday. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. Everyone on the staff was so kind and we’re planning on coming back.
The Perfect Family Vacation
First, I have to share how I first came to book Gibbs Glade Villa. My husband and myself along with one of our other guests are all Director of Sales and Marketing for major hotels and have been in the industry over 30 years each. Like many, I started reading the reviews posted on the property almost a year out. I couldn't believe that consistently there were 5 star after 5 star. In my industry, you can have many positive reviews and an occasional off review, one just has to to read through many to get a full picture of how a property is and if its the proper one for you.
I had so many questions and have to say, Maria, the owner was so quick to respond and answer each and every question I had. I have to share there were many. Maria, a shout out to you and your patience with everything I asked. All was truly perfect! Maria saw to everything from telling me about how and where to have our wine delivered upon arrival, groceries in the refrigerator so we didn't have to shop that afternoon of arrival. The ability to have a Chef, helping me find the perfect outing on the " Good Times II Catamaran" sail, The recommendation of Stouts car rental and having the vehicle delivered to the villa also upon our arrival. WOW! When we landed at the airport, I am so glad Maria that you suggested the expediting through customs and having transportation arranged. Not a step was missed and the transition was so seamless. Though there is a cost associated with it, its worth every penny especially after traveling over 6 hours as our family had. Then we come to the arrival and being greeted with the beautiful and most helpful, Tonya. She is a wealth of knowledge and so gracious. Tonya set the remainder of the holiday in motion. The villa is everything pictured but BETTER if you can believe that! So pristine and organized. We wanted for nothing. We did bring in our own meats from the States, using a permit from the agriculture department to help with cost with so many of us and again so glad we did. We cooked all but two nights of our eight night stay. The grill on the veranda was spotless and cooked beautifully. The veranda is where we spent a great deal of our time. We laughed, cooked told happy stories, all so important when getting together with your grown children. I cannot forget Trevor who keeps the grounds immaculate. You can tell he takes great pride in what he does. Thank you Maria and your team for exceeding expectations! :)
Cant wait to go back!
My family of 7...six adults and a 2 year old, had the privilege to stay T Gibbs Glade the first week of June. Prior to our arrival Maria, the owner, was always in touch with us to answer any questions we had. I don’t think she ever sleeps! Lol. Maria gave us helpful information regarding tours to take and car rentals to use. We took her advise and she was spot on with her recommendations. Donald...the taxi driver was the most pleasant and punctual driver you can imagine. Every time he drove us somewhere he’d bring us a bag of fresh mangos from his trees. It was mango season.
Natalie, our house keeper, was amazing. She was cheerful, helpful, and kept us very organized. We discovered she was going to culinary school so we hired her one night to cook us a real Bajan feast. It was the most delicious and incredible dinner we had while in Barbados. We were so honored that she was able to cook for my husbands birthday dinner! It was a birthday dinner we will never forget.
Tonya, the manager, was a delight. Anything we needed she made sure we got. She also was a wealth of information for us and a contact if we needed anything while in Barbados.
So now the property...words or pictures can’t describe the beauty of Gibbs Glade. All I can say is I we all felt comfortable and at home. Wish it was “our beach house”. It was decorated very nicely and fully supplied with everything and anything that you could want. We ate every meal outside. There was always shade In The dining area and the “conversational “ area.
All the bedrooms had their own bathrooms and they were all fully stocked with soap and toilet paper. Very clean...only one bathroom had a tub. Beds were very comfortable for us...slept very well!
The pool area was beautiful. We spent a lot of family time sitting around the pool or floating. It was just so relaxing. You didn’t want to leave the house!
Gibbs Glade is less then a 5 minute walk to the beach. The beach is very quiet...we were the on,y ones there. We often walked to Mullins beach club...(tags provided by Maria) to watch the sunset and have a cocktail. When you first enter the water at both beaches it is a little rocky and if you have tender feet I would advise water shoes. The water was so beautiful and crystal clear. No seaweed. Once you got beyond the rocks the sand under your feet was like velvet.
Our recommendations to see/do would be definitely Good Times Catamaran tour which you get
Excellent property and excellent service from the property manager, this is my second visit to the property and already looking at booking for next year.
A fabulous experience the owner has thought of everything
Can not fault this property everything you could possibly need was provided and was immaculate throughout . Ideally located for beach or just relaxing by the pool . The property manager Tonya is on hand to advise or arrange anything for you and Suzanne will take you and pick you up from anywhere so no need for taxis. Natalie came in 5 days week for housekeeping and everyone was so friendly. If you would like someone to food shop for you this is very easily arranged too.
The owner was easily contacted and quick to respond to queries and has lots of recommendations for local companies which gives total confidence when planning trips and nights out.
I can honestly say this was a fantastic holiday with friends and I would totally recommend this place.
Gibbs Glade Villa
We have just returned from a family holiday in Gibbs Glade Villa. The accommodation was perfect for our 3 generation family of 8.
The owner, Maria, is swift to reply to any
question and Tonya the villa manager, lives locally.
The villa itself is maintained to a very high standard with Natalie, the house keeper, visiting for 4 hours 5 days a week. She is a delight, bubbly personality and the children adored her.
The garden and pool area is well designed.
The garden is maintained by Trevor who also works 5 Mornings a week. The outlook from the rear undercover terrace onto the garden and pool was our favourite, lovely colourful flowers with swaying palm trees behind. We spent every evening here , on comfortable seats, and used the excellent BBQ 24/7.
Perhaps the most popular part of our stay was the frequent trips to Gibbs’s beach which was only 5 minutes walk away . The children loved the beach and even saw some turtles whilst swimming in the warm, clear water.
They even spotted a troop of monkeys
Without doubt we were spoilt by our stay in this top of the range Villa.
“ Our best holiday ever Grampa”
Thank you so much for the outstanding review Peter. We just loved hosting you and your lovely family for the 3 weeks. What else can I say, other than, please do come stay with us again granpa!
The villa is on the West Coast with Gibbs Beach being the closest just a 4 minute walk. It is quiet and secluded. A similar short walk along the same coastline in the opposite direction is Mullins Beach which is more active with a bar/restaurant with boat hire, jetskis and inflatables for the children. GGV is within 10 minutes of several renowned golf courses including the Royal West Moreland and Sandy Lane. For shopping , try Speightstown which is 5 minutes away and retains the original charm of the Island. The luxurious Lime Grove shopping centre with its designer shops can be found in Holetown less10 minutes drive away. The capital , Bridgetown , is a 30 minute drive with cricket at the Oval, horse racing at the Garrison and Barbados Yacht Club. Polo can be found 20 mins away at Holders. The villa is close to many upscale restaurants as well as more traditional bars restaurants and 'rum shops' with authentic, tasty and cheap Bajan cuisine. Some (Mullins/Bombas)are within walking distance. Of course you can always pick up some freshly caught fish from one of the many local fish stalls (closest being 2 mins drive) which you can grill on the gas barbecue and enjoy al fresco in the tranquil ambience of the well lit pool, terrace and gardens. Perfect!
