The manor is an amazing house, and I don't think there is another property so old in the country that can be rented. You really are experiencing history when you stay here. It's a very special property and I've always been happy to share it with public as I believe this places should be enjoyed and appreciated so that they can be maintained for future generations.
Very interesting house - great kitchen for socialising and we particularly liked the banquet hall.
Towels and bedding were good and we found the place clean.
This property, which used to be a monastery, was lovingly restored to its former glory. Such a unique experience! Also, great modernised kitchen and bathrooms, we had no reason to eat out as it was such a pleasure cooking in this amazing kitchen. I organised a birthday weekend for my friend in it and all the guest were amazed, I felt so proud for my great find :D Weather was not great but we had lovely indoors BBQ in one of the many open fires in the banquet room. Chepstow and its castle were also very nice to visit. All in all, an amazing weekend just 2h away from London!
we had an amazing time in this house - extremely well equipped - imagine staying in such an old house & having wifi! If you are looking for a the perfect get together home away from home this is perfect, waitrose 10 minute walk away - amazing aga for cooking that perfect meal, comfy beds, ample bedding, sheets & equipment - highly recommended
What a great find this was! 4 Guests and my self stayed in this quaint historic Mannor. We used this roomy Welsh setting as a home base to explore the region. The houses significance was aggrandized by the connection to some of the other historical location is the Welsh countryside. Highly recommend that a stay in Wales start with this welcoming abode.
I recently had the opportunity- nay the privilege of spending the better part of a week at Llanthony secunda manor. It's hard to explain but it was both amazing as a piece of history in which I was sharing but also as a home that felt comfortable and welcoming to myself and my friends. I have felt bereft of "our house "ever since. Carefully appointed to suit the ancient surroundings it was also modern in its amenities. The town of Caldicot itself is a welcoming one within walking distance with supermarket and good shopping facilities and a Tuesday market in the pedestrian district, The nearby Castle Inn has excellent food and the Castle itself affords good walks and while we were there an outdoor performance of Shakespeare by a travelling repertory. The owner was there to greet our party and left us coffee and biscuits as a welcome- she was also generous with her time answering questions about the manor and its history. I would go again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended. C. S. Griffin
This is a fascinating place with an owner new to the world of renting but committed to doing a great job with the most exciting building we've ever stayed in (and we've been self-catering in the UK for 21 years.) The immediate location is unfortunate, surrounded by bungalows, difficult to find, and nothing is available by foot. This is redeemed by the fact that so much of Wales and southern England is within an hour by car and life within the house is so much fun. Find the Chepstow Farm Market -- easy for bascis and located on the way to the house from the M48. The property will be even better when it has a functioning fire in the sitting room (the Great Room is not a usuable space unless you're planning a dinner party for 20, at which point it would be splendid) and when there is good light by which to read. At the moment, however, it has a fantastic kitchen, great bathrooms (cute en-suite facilities in the medieval guarde-robes), very good heating, good internet service, and comfortable furnishings. Most importantly, the owner is serious about both the restoration of the property and the satisfaction of its tenants. It makes for a promising combination.
