Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday villa in Gualdo - Mangiasassi

5 ensuite bedrooms in this charming villa, reduced rates for smaller parties

Mangiasassi is a typical Marche villa built about 200 years ago using local limestone/sandstone. The villa has terracotta floors throughout making the villa a cool summer holiday rental and beamed timbered ceilings. The property features 5 spacious en suite bedrooms as well as a disabled ground floor bathroom, private garden and terrace, and a lovely private swimming pool overlooking spacious grounds with fruit and olive trees. The owner is an art teacher in Florence and this reflects in the decor and restoration.

Gualdo (1.5km) has stunning views over Le Marche countryside and offers wonderful amenities shops bank places to eat etc.. A short drive away is Sarnano, where there are a greater number of shops and restaurants to cater for your needs as well as a very well preserved medieval old town. There are numerous other medieval villages in the area to explore; their streets and piazza's seemingly untouched by modern times. The natural splendors of the Sibillini National Park are a 30 minute drive away, where you can marvel at the unspoilt landscape and mountain lakes, or for the more active, indulge in some walking or mountain biking or canoe and white water boating

Le-Marche is one of Italy’s most attractive and least spoilt regions located between the Southern Apennines and the Adriatic coast. It is a scenic region with mountains and valleys, hills, olive groves, terraced vineyards and flat low lands along its 170 km Adriatic coast. Although each year sees an increase in its popularity with tourists, it is as yet not swamped.

Villa Mangia Sassi lies in the heart of an area now being called “Gods Green Triangle”, Sarnano, Penna San Giovanni, and Monte San Martino. Rocky peaks, mountain streams and steep gorges provide spectacular scenery, in contrast to the long stretches of sand and picturesque seaside towns.

There is the local ski resort of Bolongnola, complete with lifts etc, approximately 8 miles away. Other places to visit in the region are: Ancona (70miles), Pescara (90 miles), Bolonga Forli (150 miles) and Rome 140 miles. There are many seaside resorts along the Adriatic coast Porto San Giorgio . San Bernadetto, Ascoli and many more.

Gualdo (1.5km away) is centred around a small piazza with a very pleasant bar there are about ten small shops, bakery, bank, post office and a small street market on Tuesdays. There are also two restaurants a play area for children and teenagers in a small park tends to be the focal point with organized games of soccer for local and visitors in the summer months.

Penna San Giovanni also about 2 miles away it is a walled medieval village with roughly the same shops and facilities as Gualdo; it has a small supermarket. Set 700 metres above sea level, magnificent views can be obtained from the little park perched on top of the village. The village also has a really nice pizzeria and bar [our favourite].

Hello Kevin,

The house was more than fine Kevin.

We really loved the quiet location and the beauty and confort of the house. Also the BBQ and pizza oven gave it an extra holiday feeling.

We will sure make good promotion for Mangia Sassi with our friends.

We had a great time this august. Every room has its own bathroom. We were with 9 people, 6 adults and 3 children.

Lots of fun in the swimming pool, positioned close to the house. Enjoyd our home made pizza´s in the wooden oven.

Hope we can return next year.

Una casa lontano da casa

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic property, excellent facilities.

  • 5 of 5

Two families, adults x 6, teenagers x 3 and one younger all well catered for. Especially for the older teenagers/young adults the self contained 2 bed room with shower on the lower ground floor opposite the pool. Kitchen well equipped, every device, knife, accessory is there. The best for us was the outside log pizza oven, you wont taste any better. Pool maintained, fantastic views. Locals helpful and friendly in small village, bakery, deli and bank. Owners and Kevin ( UK booking)) also most helpful during enquiry and stay. If you're looking for a standalone property in an excellent location and are prepared to drive further than the village for a bulk shop or place of interest then you wont be disappointed. Check the information folder at property for excellent restaurants.

a very pleasant house in a beautifull region

  • 5 of 5

We stayed one week in Mangia Sassi. It is the best house I ever rented in Italy. Each bedroom is very confortable as well as the living rooms. The house is very well equipped, kitchen and outdoor tables, chairs and simming pool deckchairs. It has a very large terrace open on the countryside and overviewing the swimming pool where we had all our meals. The situation of the house is also very pleasant, at the end of a small road with farms and houses. The village is nearby, 15 mn walk (or 5mn drive) and has all the convenient shops, a grocery shop, a bakery, a fruit and vegetable shop and a butcher, salumeria, fresh pasta shop. It also has a petrol station and a bank. Around the house there are numerous little medieval villages to visit and within 1 hour or 2 hours drive the towns of Assisi, Ascoli Piceno and other less well known places. The sea is also about one hour drive with sand beaches and little restaurants. We had a little problem with our car when we arrived and the person in care of the house was extremely helpfull and solved our problem. We realy spent a nice week and I would recommend this house strongly.

Well appointed, interesting rural retreat.

  • 4 of 5

Despite the late hour of our arrival Cathy and Lorenzo were extremely helpful and welcoming. The property was all that we hoped and full of character. The setting was beautiful and the house wasvery well equipped. The temperatures were very high during our stay and we requested additional fans which were delivered the same day. The pool and grounds were well maintainedand we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Villa is located just outside the village of Gualdo and about 15 miles from Macerata. Ancona airport is 1 hour and 10 minutes away Pescara 1hour 30 minutes. and Bologna Forli, 2 hour 30 mins. It is also possible to get flights to Rimmini 2 hours and Rome a little further at 3-4 hour.

There are excellent motorways to within ten miles of the Villa. Most airlines have flights to Le Marche, Italy. Ryanair have daily flights to Ancona the main airport of Le Marche Italy, Pescara and Bologna Forli, and about five flights daily to Rome. Villa Mangiasassi is located in the Sibilini National park with their tremendous Mountains and lakes, the Adriatic beach resorts are also close to hand, Porto San Giorgio, San Bernadetto, Numana, all with their own Italian magic charm. Travelling inland one can visit Macerata with its famous Opera Season. Close by is Urbisaglia which has an open air theatre and Roman ruins. further inland one of our favourites, Assisi and the dramatic Frassasi Caves
