Wonderful, quaint, old house. Great location, easy to walk into Middleburg and drive into and out of town. Stayed with a friend; one of us was upstairs, the other stayed on the daybed downstairs. Worked well although the setup won't be conducive for more than two who aren't coupled. The house took a long time to warm up in the winter, especially the kitchen. Kitchen is stocked with just the essentials. Whole house could have been cleaner.
I had a lovely time at the cottage. It is cozy, warm, inviting and comfortable. I got a lot of writing done as well as nice walks around town. The kitchen is well equipped and the back yard entirely fenced. My dog was very happy with it.
Will surely go back.
This cozy little cottage is in a great location and all of Middleburg is in easy walking distance. The house is oddly configured no doubt due to being a conversion of a very old house, but it is very comfortable and well cared for. The backyard is large and my dogs loved it. My only recommendation would be to get a DVD player. Overall it was the perfect place to stay to explore the area.
The cottage was perfect for the two of us. Very warm and inviting. The kitchen was a bit chilly as there were no heat vents in there, but that didn't really matter as we didn't spend much time in there. The bed was extremely comfortable!! Easy access to Middleburg shops and restaurants. Only a few blocks away. Would love to return sometime.
This is my second 3 day stay at this lovely cottage. I stayed in November and decided I needed a return stay to celebrate my January birthday. The 'proof is in the pudding' as the English like to say, and the fact that I returnd just a few weeks after my first visit should say it all. I truly enjoy this cosy, comfortable, warm, quiet and relaxing cottage. It has everything you need to hunker down for a few days very easily. The location is perfect and to be able to walk to lunch at the wonderful Red Fox Inn as well as many other restaurants in Middleburg is such a bonus. Cheris and Mike, the owners, are always very responsive to questions and suggestions to make things even better. I plan to be back again in the Spring to celebrate the end of the winter in this lovely location.
I have just enjoyed a wonderful 3 night stay at this cosy and welcoming cottage over the Thanksgiving holiday. The house was exactly as described and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The cottage is in a quiet location on the edge of town, and has a country feel to it. The lounge and office area are really cute, and the bedroom has the most comfortable bed in it I have slept in for a while! I slept like a rock every night of my stay. The location is fabulous being only about 90 minutes from WDC, and with everything in Middleburg being within walking distance, and the Salamander Resort and Spa just a few minutes away. And there is the benefit of off-street parking too. I lunched at the Red Fox Inn (highly recommended), drank too much coffee in the Common Grounds coffee shop in the village, bought Christmas gifts from the shops in the village, and last but not least enjoyed a cocktail (or two) at the Salamander. All such fun. I would highly recommend this cottage and hope to visit again in the Spring and take full advantage of the large garden and patio. Mike (the owner) was very responsive to all my questions and even opened up the house early for me as the anticipated Thanksgiving traffic gridlock did not happen and I arrived much earlier than planned. Already looking forward to my next visit!
