We love the simple life of downtown Bradenton. It has so much within walking distance and it is also close to the bus line if you don't feel like taking the car out. It is close to all that is needed by car, like beaches and stores.
Quite, safe, near everything!!!
The home was lovely – and cozy. Although an older home it has been renovated while keeping the charm of the older home architecture. Upgrades included air-conditioning, overhead lighting in rooms with fans, updated bathroom and a gorgeous kitchen with new appliances. The house was clean and the bed/pillows quite comfortable. I enjoyed sitting in the backyard in the late afternoon where the large trees kept the area nice and cool. And I also enjoyed sitting on the screened porch – a real bonus! The location is within 15 minutes to all of the restaurants I wanted to eat at . Morning and evening walks along the river and throughout the neighborhood were enjoyable - very interesting with homes from different periods of time. Although there was PLENTY of closet space, my recommendation would be to have small chests or dressers with drawers for in the two bedrooms to put clothes and to put things "on". But that would not stop me from recommending the home to others, or requesting to stay there again. And they were THOUGHTFUL - had two nice bowls "out" on a mat for my dogs -
Great location! And super comfortable. This certainly felt like my home away from home.
This cottage has a lot of charm with the rocking chairs and porch swing on the screened in porch. The garden out back is peaceful and serene and has a hammock for just chillin'. The fenced in yard was enjoyable to have since my Shih Tzu stayed with me. He felt very welcomed with a mat just for him for his dog dishes, which they also supplied if needed. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and pots and pans for cooking. There is a washer and dryer right by the back door for beach towels or a clothes line you can pull out to hang them up outside if prefered. The beds were comfortable and my daughter (32 yrs old) commented how great the pillows were (she is hard to please in that department so kudos to the owners!) The neighborhood is very safe and a nice place to walk the dog just minutes from a walk along the river. A 20 minute walk will get you to restaurants and the art district in Bradenton or go just up the street to Luna Latte (not just for coffee but meals and live music on Fri/Sat nights). Fifteen minutes down Manatee Road and you are at the beach where you can also enjoy live music at night. We sat on the beach listening to Jimmy Buffet. Sadly no Margarita was in my hand, but sun, beach, and catching up with my daughter was enough! The owners were very responsive and helpful and sent all the info I needed prior to my visit. If you are looking for a quaint cottage to stay while you take day trips to the beach, this is the place for you.
We stayed at August Moon during the months of February and March. The cottage was comfortable and conveniently located to farmers' markets, grocery stores, boutiques and thrift shops, beaches, fitness centers and restaurants, with easy access to highways for visiting other cities in the area. Set back from traffic, the neighborhood was quiet and within walking distance to the river and a park. We appreciated having access to a private yard for our pets, as well as ample off- street parking for our car and motorcycle. The porch was a pleasant retreat for reading and relaxing and we enjoyed the convenience of having a washer and dryer on site.
My family of four stayed in this house for 2 weeks in January. The owners were very accommodating and friendly. The location was perfect for us - 10-15 minute drive to Anna Maria Island/beaches, quiet neighborhood setting, easy access to pretty much anything we needed within a mile or so, short walk to the River. The house itself was comfortable with a trundle bed in one bedroom and queen in the other. We have 2 young kids so nap time was a little tricky since the bedrooms are on the same floor as living space...we just had to be extra quiet compared to home. Having a washer and dryer was awesome. My only complaints would be more towels since my family used all four every time we showered, no bath tub for our kids but we managed just fine, the exterior could have used a good raking, the interior could have been cleaned more thoroughly. FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm a neat freak so to the average person, the house was perfectly clean. Overall, we would definitely stay here again. Also, we thought it was very affordable for what you got. Much better than my family of four being cramped in a hotel room for 2 weeks...and it cost a lot less than a hotel. Lastly, we loved the screened in porch out front...so relaxing with rocking chairs and swing! Thanks Judy!
