Guestbook comments from the owner

Deby was a great, welcoming host especially considering we arrived in downpour! The place was lovely with a wonderful, private outdoor area. Everything was newly redone inside, and very clean. The location is absolutely ideal - short walk out to the beach or to the river side of the island and short drive into St. Augustine. Would greatly recommend Deby's place!!!

A good find for dog lovers too

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our one week stay. The apartment was very clean and private, the tall-fenced yard was ideal for our dogs and we had a huge driveway. The owners were very friendly and accessible if needed and they are true dog lovers!

The kitchen area was well stocked with disposable dishes and cutlery. It had a modern fridge, toaster and coffee maker. There were lots of quality linens and towels and nice touches including a very informative binder of local restaurant menus and activities. The master bedroom bed was very comfortable as were the two wicker chairs. The small bed was very firm. The ceiling fans were the perfect touch for overnight.

A couple of bistro table and chair sets in the kitchen and bbq areas would make eating more practical and help avoid eating in the bedrooms where the light carpet could be stained. It's unfortunate that there was no kitchen sink or stove but nonetheless it was very well set up to make it workable and local dining spots were numerous. Breakfast was a hard find until we discovered the Village Inn.

There was a nice tub but the shower pressure was on the weak side.

TVs were too small and too high but not a priority while on vacation.

The safest walk to the beach actually takes about 10 minutes and leads to a walkway above the street which runs next to the beach. We enjoyed the Reef restaurant on the beach where our dogs could even join us on the deck overlooking the ocean.

Spotless home , 1 block from the beach!

  • 5 of 5

A lovely, clean home to stay. 1 block from the beach and a shirt drive into St. Augustine. They have an outdoor shower, which we loved using.

Very dog friendly and the apt. Had treats for my dog.

Beautiful private getaway, steps from the ocean.

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful hideaway is truly a gem. Its only a block from the ocean and minutes away from downtown St Augustine and all the sites. You have access to a private beach entrance that will not fail to impress you with its beauty. This place provides you with everything you need except for your food. Deby and John have done an outstanding job with this place. Im am truly happy that i stayed there instead of getting a hotel. I could not not recommend a better place to stay on a vacation if you are in the St Augustine area. Try it out and i believe you will have as much fun as i did if not more.

Owner's Response: We are so very, very glad that you had a good getaway! We know that you were concerned, as is understandable, since this is not a hotel with a corporate logo - but as it turned out, it would seem that you enjoyed it all the more for it's 'quiet gem of a place'! That's exactly what we were hoping for during your special getaway, as that is what we wish for all of our guests! You were wonderful guests - quiet, respectful, and left the place immaculate! We certainly hope you will visit again, Michael, as you would be most welcome anytime!

I under estimated how nice this place was

  • 5 of 5

In the photos this place looks pretty small, which I was okay with because I was looking for a simple cheap vacation. But once we got there I realized it was much bigger than expected. There's plenty of room. The only thing lacking was a table to eat at. I went here with my boyfriend, aaron, for our first vacation together alone. It was quiet and they had everything we needed. The beach is very very nice. It wasn't packed, plenty of room between me and the next person, and the waves were perfect. There were tons of seashells, also sand. The sand was really cool to play with if you haven't ever been to a golden beach. Obviously sand is just very small rocks, but the sand was so colorful when you put it on your skin. It was fascinating. I was expecting the beach to be covered in seashells to the point you couldn't go there without shoes but there was only a small section that was packed with seashells. I collect seashells. I mean you could literally make a mountain of seashells. It was cool. Aaron really liked the ocean, I'm not a huge fan of the water, but he could walk out there a good distance and still only be waist deep. I actually got over my fear of the ocean here.

I also love weird shops, so we went to st augustine, and there were at least 200 shops. You could very well spend all day there and still have to go back tomorrow to check them out. They had resturants scattered into the wide array of shops. I absolutely loved the st augustine shops.

We came prepared because we knew we had to cook on the grill, and since we don't have a ton of money for going out to eat for every meal. We made some really easy foil meals, and if you haven't heard of those you should really do a Google search because they are delicious.

There were plenty of amenities, probably some stuff that I would buy for my guests if I had a vacation home. Like poopori, a spray that you spray in the toilet after you go poop, me and aaron got a kick out of that. And some lavender pillow mist. Just some pretty unique things that they supplied. The tub was reasonably big, and the outside shower had its own privacy hedge, and it could be turned to hot or cold water.

Deby really paid attention to our needs, and even before we arrived she gave me a birthday gift ( i turned 20 on this vacation) she gave me some cupcakes and balloons which was thoughtful. If you're looking for a simple sweet vacation next to the beach and 10 min from shops then this is for you.
