Everything we needed for a nice Ski Vacation

  • 4 of 5

On the bus route, parking is close, condo is clean and quiet. Be aware the condo has a very small hot water heater so make it a quick shower. Very comfortable with a functional kitchen and laundry. We will be booking again.

the place was dirty and needed refurbishing

  • 2 of 5

The kitchen and bathroom floors were filthy! The living room floor rug needed to be cleaned. I Think the bed sheets had been washed. The kitchen counters were sticky and dirty. I would never stay there again; we ended up moving our belongings into a family member's room and stayed there. The hot water ran out early when showering. Two people could never shower back to back.

One out of 5 stars

  • 1 of 5

In some ways it seems like I'm writing a review on a Hill condo unit different than the one in other reviews. My wife and I are not fussy people but I have to say overall we were disappointed in our place.

Good things: It was warm. The heat worked very well. The water was warm and the bathroom was functional with no problems. It is very compact but we knew it would be and it served our needs. It's a short free bus ride to the mountain. Personally I felt comfortable with the neighborhood. Most residents are hard working younger people and anyone I ran into outside were friendly.

The not so good things. Sorry to say but the carpet was smelly and stained. I think just a real good shampoo would have done a lot of good. My wife bought some Febreeze which of course only temporarily masks odors but that didn't last long. The linoleum type tile that goes from the kitchen area to the bath area was very old, cracked and with holes. There's no way to clean something like that. The furniture was old but functional. The kitchen appliances worked but in back of the sink/ dishwasher was a large hole in the wall that was concealed by free standing a couple pieces of wood ( maybe incomplete from a repair job?). It happened to be very cold at our visit so the exterior door tended to freeze shut which we unthawed using a hair dryer. We had the impression that there were no pets/dogs allowed but at the bottom of the steps were pee marks and other indications of a good size dog as well as barking coming from the lowest unit. Also met a guy one morning going down the steps with his dog. We are also dog owners but would never bring him because of "the rules", so where was the manager?

We've vacationed many times in the Big Sky area so I'm aware of the history of the Hill condos. Some have been remodeled and updated and others are still as they were when built. It appeared to us that this one may be in its original state but anyway in my humble opinion is in need of a remodel or a least basics of flooring.

We had requests where we needed the manager. A bulb out in the bed area and when the door froze shut on us twice. Tried by phone and knocking on the door with no result.

Conclusion. I'd stay at Hill again but I'd make sure it was a remodeled unit. Sorry, but not at this one as it is now. By the way I have photos of the problems described

Owner's Response: The association at Big Sky dose not allow pets on the premises of rental properties. Owners of course, are allowed to have pets on their private properties. On the very rare occasion a guest violates the no pets policy, it's a violation of our trust, and their honor. That rare violator is ultimately fined, and then the violator may take their frustration out on the management and their property. Sad.

It is a small, but comfortable condo.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at Big Sky. The condo is small, but comfortable for a couple. Matt, the on-site manager, was great! The only issues we had with the condo were the dryer door was broken but we were able to tape it shut. Also, the bathroom door wouldn't slide shut, but again, not a huge issue. Overall, I would rate this little condo very highly!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your recent reservation in The Little Condo at Big Sky! We are delighted to have Matt as on-site manager for the condo. Matt was unaware of this issue and did not hesitate to run for an $8 part to fix the dryer door. (Big Sky, MT, to the nearest major hardware store, is a 100-mile round trip drive). Thank you, Matt!!!

Convenient by not without some compromise

  • 3 of 5

We must tell you this condo was convenient to the mountain, right at a shuttle route stop. Right from inside the mountain you get the best view of lone peak. Pretty much everything we needed was there for use, but it was not fancy. The compromises: the place smelled like smoke- and it kept on coming throughout the week. The bed would probably work for just a couple days, but a week was uncomfortable. The area was a bit sketchy too. Overall, not a complete loss- and not bad for the price.

Owner's Response: Hi, Thank you for your reservation in The Little Condo. The smoke was coming from an adjoining condo for which action the occupant was immediately evicted by the condo association. Smoking is not allowed in our condominium complex. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Confortable winter getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here on our ski vacation at this cute little condo with amazing views of Lone Peak. Nice western ski decor and the kitchen had all the basics plus laundry. We relaxed in the cozy living room each day, and had space for another couple to join us for dinner one night. Spacious walk-in closet for all our ski gear and winter clothes. Overall, the condo was a good value and met all our needs. A few minor cosmetic things could be improved, yet it was more comfy, private, and complete than a hotel room!
