Great place but 30 minutes from Dover-Foxcroft, not the ten minutes quoted!

  • 3 of 5

The cabin and lake were beautiful and I highly recommend renting here if you don't need to go anywhere else! This would have been the perfect place had it truly been just ten minutes from Dover-Foxcroft as Rachel told me via email. Instead, it was a full hour round trip to DF, which really messed up our plans. It was important for us to be close to DF because we were primarily there to visit my grandmother (age 104!) and as she gets easily tired we planned on visiting her two or three times a day. We had to spend a LOT more time in the car than we'd hoped which cut down on our time to enjoy the cabin and the lake. A real bummer for us.

Awesome lake house!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great camp on the lake. Skip and Rachael have done an awesome job building it and furnishing it. It's a great place for those that want to spead some time on the water, ATV (the trail head is right by the driveway!!), hike, relax, and just getaway and spead some time in a really quiet, comfortable atmosphere. The house has three floors, with 5 comfortable beds, a really nice kitchen/bath. The raised porch looks out at the dock/pond and is great for spending time with company. The property is really well kept, and the lanscaping is really neat. All around a great place to stay, we will be back!

Beautiful waterfront cottage

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. From the beautiful decorations to the comfy beds to the easy access to outdoor recreation, I do not have a single complaint. You cannot beat the price for what you get.

One of the most enjoyable Maine experiences we have had. A very nice camp on a beautiful pond.

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to northern Maine for nearly 20 years, and this was one of the best experiences ever. The camp (since that is what it is called in Maine, but anywhere else it would be a "comfortable cabin") is modern, well furnished, and thoughtfully designed. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the deck were a delight. Rachael and Skip were responsive but unobtrusive (the power went out for a couple of hours after a powerful windstorm nocked down power lines in the area; Rachael showed up with lanterns). Piper Pond is delightful--large enough to explore in kayaks, but not so big as to become choppy if the wind blows. And the loons calling each other completed the perfect Maine lake experience.

Beautiful cottage, a wonderful week away from it all!

  • 5 of 5

Our time at the Cottage on Piper Pond was perfect -- the cottage had all the amenities we wanted for a week truly AWAY! We enjoyed long walks on the pond roads, listening to the calls of the loons, and swimming and kayaking on Piper Pond (which in any other state, would be called a lake!). The spot is centrally located enough to allow us short drives to significant hikes (Appalachian Trail, Borestone and Barren Mtns, and Wilson Falls), to close-by lakes like Onawa, Hebron and Moosehead, and to great local restaurants in Monson, Greenville and Dover-Foxcroft. The cottage had all the cooking and grilling items we needed to make meals at home, as well. Having rented a lot of similar cottages in both Maine and Colorado, we especially appreciated how thoughtfully and beautifully decorated and furnished the Cottage on Piper Pond was -- just enough to make it feel like home without being stuffed to the gills with tchotchkes and second-hand couches. The owners left us sparklers in honor of our 4th of July visit and just made us feel so at home and comfortable. One thing to note (which was not a problem for us, but might be for others): most cell service (at least ATT) is not available in this part of Maine. The cottage's wifi worked well, but we needed to drive into town to pick up actual cell phone calls and messages. You may want to ask for the cottage's landline in advance, if you need to provide it for emergencies or work purposes. Or, just enjoy being disconnected for a bit: bring a few books, your swim suit and your hiking boots to this wonderfully appointed cottage on Piper Pond, and enjoy a magical week away from it all!

Located on the shores of pristine Piper Pond. Enjoy fishing, swimming, and all of your favorite water activities. The Appalachian trail is not far from the cottage so day hikes up the trail from Monson are fun as well as hikes up Borestone Mountain which is part of the Borestone Mountain Audubon Sanctuary. Borestone is a must for all outdoor enthusiast especially in the fall when the foliage is beautiful. While visiting the area, travel to Moosehead Lake, only a half our drive. Moosehead Lake has much to offer including Moose Safari's, cruise the shores of Moosehead on the historic "Katahdin Steamship". Bring a 4-wheeler or snowmobile depending on the time of year and enjoy many of the trails travelling through the "Maine Highlands"
