Beautiful Views - One Caveat

  • 4 of 5

I absolutely agree with all of the other reviews in terms of the views and the condition of the cabin. The view from the back porch is stunning and the cabin was well kept and clean.

I'm not able to give 5 stars because our expectations weren't completely met upon arrival. Due to the fact that my husband and I live incredibly busy lives in Washington, D.C., we were hoping for a secluded mountain get-away, which is partially the case in this rental. Per the property manager: "When you park, you will see a path leading to Royal Views at the opposite end of the parking area, but that is the only time you see that there is another cabin." The path in actuality is a driveway and another house. When we pulled up, we believed we had arrived at the wrong location due to this description. In the evening, we were often privy to our neighbors' conversation from our back porch. We were simply a little disappointed and felt like the house wasn't accurately represented in the description.

That being said, we had a great time and might even be back. It's a beautiful, quaint cabin with wonderful views. Just know that it's not completely secluded.

Owner's Response: Hello and Thank You for taking the time to write this review. We are so glad to hear you enjoyed the cabin and those incredible VIEWS!!! This really is one of my personal favorites because of the location and romantic feel of the cabin! I am disappointed to hear you say you feel mislead (this is the first I have heard of this), as we take pride in accurately describing the property and setting. We believe our accuracy is helpful when Guests are trying to decide which property is the best fit for their group. Perhaps I can clarify (for all of you who have not yet been to the cabin). Majestic Overlook (this cabin) is technically the Guest house of another larger property (Royal Views). The two cabins are built on opposite ends of the tract of land, and in between them is a very large, rectangular shaped, parking area that easily could park 4 plus cars. Again, we appreciate your time and energy that went in to telling us all what you did and did not like about your stay. Having said that... In the spirit of total honesty, I think you went overboard when you said you were "privy to a neighbor's conversation"... Sincerely, Kathleen Ford - Property Manager

The Majestic View Cabin was just that. It was hard to pull us away from the beautiful views offered from the hot tub and porch swing. We will definitely be back to this secluded beauty! Oh, and the guest book with everyone's memories was precious to go through. The perfect way to spend our anniversary. Would recommend to any and everyone!

Beautiful View!

  • 3 of 5

The long view of the mountains was fantastic but you don't get a sunrise or sunset view. The cabin was clean. There was a shower stall but no tub. There was another cabin located just a few feet away that was occuppied which took away from our privacy. We felt uneasy when sleeping since the door to our cabin didn't have a deadbolt. Hottub was very nice but not sure if it is drained and refilled for each new guest; they may just put in chemicals and not drain and refill tub. Gravel road up to cabin was 2miles long and very steep; we had to use four wheel drive because truck was sliding even going very slow in low gear. We felt the $95 charge for housekeeping was way too much since each guest has to clean the cabin and even take the garbage away when leaving. The process of booking the cabin through Home Away was quick. Kathleen Ford who works at the real estate company sent email on how to get there and gave us several ways to contact her. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, we loved the view, and it was definitely better than staying in a hotel.

Owner's Response: This is our first review that is less than 5 stars. This goes to show that you cannot please everyone, but even so, we will continue to try!!! Please read this review with an open mind, and know that this cabin is actually the Guest house of another cabin (Royal Views), and is located on the opposite end of the property. I promise you that the only time you will see the other cabin is when you park your car, and not from anywhere within the cabin, nor from the hot tub (kept sparkling) deck, and not from the covered view deck (we do not advertise sunset or sunrise views, but depending upon the time of year, you may see sunsets from this deck)! Thank You for taking the time to submit this review, (which is about 50% accurate)... Kathleen Ford - Property Manager

Beautiful setting, birds and butterflies everywhere. The view is unparalleled.

  • 5 of 5

The property is lovely and cozy, yet modern. It definitely just right for two people. The view off of the deck is spectacular. The hummingbirds and butterflies have ample flowers to feed upon and give you a show as you are taking in the view. Sitting in the spa at night gazing up at the stars or relaxing in the spa during the day while enjoying the beautiful lake/mountain views, are two of our favorite memories of this special place. We enjoyed kayaking and swimming on Fontana Lake just below Tsali Campground, the gravel drive to Wesser Water tower trailhead and biking on Telllico Road along the Little Tennessee River. This cabin offers a great location to take in all that the Smokies have to offer. Would come back in a heartbeat! Easily could spend a week here and never get bored! I rarely feel this strongly about a property. You should see for yourself. Someone else said it about this area--it's heaven on earth!

Great Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. While the first trip up the mountain for Floridians was a bit of a shock, we got used to it pretty quickly. We enjoyed the serenity, great views, and the hot tub. There are plenty of activities to enjoy within a 30 minute ride of the cabin. Perfect size cabin for two.

Peaceful, secluded, beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay at this cabin, and spend most of the week out on the deck taking in the breathtaking views. Although the very close (albeit hidden, once actually in the cabin or on the deck) proximity of the neighboring cabin was a bit of a surprise upon arrival, our week-long stay was a peaceful, restful one. It was exactly what we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking supplies we needed, and the place was overall very well maintained. Kathleen was very communicative and prompt in answering questions and overall we had a great experience! The drive up and down the mountain was gorgeous and we spent a day at the Nantahala Outdoor Center to enjoy the scenery as well. If you choose to venture to the Cork and Bean bistro in Bryson City, make sure you get the Filet Mignon - you won't regret it. Thanks for a great stay at this beautiful cabin!
