This three-level house, abundant with sunlight and understated European charm, has so many places to eat, cook, relax with a book, watch TV or soak up the sun. It’s ideal for friends or families looking for a sophisticated getaway a 5-minute walk from the beach and restaurants. The main floor is equally divided between public and private wings. The 500-square foot living room has two comfy sofas, flat-screen TV, grand piano, original art and ocean and canyon views. Walk through the archway into the large kitchen where you can sink into plush chairs around the Dessin Fournir table after cooking up something on the Aga gas/electric stove. For a larger group, you’ll want to eat in the casual but formal dining room, filled with more artwork and a view through French doors to the brick patio and clairvoyé. In the other wing are two light-filled bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom, one with shower and original tile work, the other a newly remodeled full bath with custom marble vanity.
The top floor is a private aerie with king bed, canyon views, 40-inch Smart TV (with a full cable/internet package including HBO, Showtime, Amazon Prime and Netflix), secluded reading nook with loveseat, and ¾ bathroom. The bottom floor opens onto the hillside and features a dedicated laundry area and office/den with a full bath and sofa-bed that doubles as a fourth bedroom, this one with separate entrance.
But the moderate Santa Monica weather beckons; enjoy a cookout in the full outdoor dining area with natural gas grill, ride one of our bicycles to the beach, or stretch out on the spacious backyard deck. After the sun sets, when the moonglow sparkles in the English garden, fire up the outdoor fireplace, gaze up at the stars, or soak in the hot tub with a glass of wine. Or two.
