Welcome to new york city's first (legal) home built entirely of re-cycled shipping containers! We offer sustainable, comfortable, wonderful living in williamsburg. Our guests will occupy one private container (apartment) on the ground floor with its own bathroom and kitchenette. Enjoy our front yard any time or ask us when you can share our roof top. A lovely community garden practically next door is also at your disposal. Whether you are a singe traveler or a small family, this space will suit your needs!
Fashionable restaurants, great bars, art galleries in williamsburg, and bushwick are within a short walk. Many times we prefer and recommend the local dominican fare. There are three bodegas or delis on our block, as well as a laundromat.
We have one full size "real bed", a queen futon sofa bed and cot available in one 320 square foot room (one container). Let us know if you need a crib. There is no separate bedroom. We can accommodate two couples, or a couple with two children, or three people. Good pets are welcome. The 8' x 40' container is heated and air conditioned with internet and cable. It is separate from the main house, where we live.
We provide clean sheets, towels, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, toothpaste, etc.
We love our neighborhood! We offer a genuine brooklyn experience where you can learn about the latest in sustainable urban design and enjoy a unique architectural project.
We live on the 2nd and 3rd floor along with our giant friendly newfoundland (mostly) dog that is a certified therapy dog. He is respectful and polite. He does not share your space though you will meet him coming and going. He will steal your heart but not your food.
Our story goes back to childhood, however, we are newlyweds. David has resided in NYC his entire adult life while Janet raised a family in the Philadelphia area. We love hosting guests from all over the world in our unusual home.
This house was designed by David's late wife, architect Michele Bertomen. David was the GC. Many hurdles were overcome for it to be in existence.
Our home offers an authentic Brooklyn experience. We live upstairs and are available to help you navigate the city. The neighborhood is a mix of families with long term roots in the area as well as the young gentrifiers. Many cultures overlap here.
We had an excellent stay in David and Janet's container home! We lived in the South Williamsburg for more than a decade, so we knew exactly where this house was, and we were very happy to be able to stay in our old neighborhood. The container was well equipped with everything you'd need. We had friends over for one of the nights of our stay and David and Janet were kind enough to offer for us to use their outdoor spaces to host a couple of friends. I'd highly recommend this rental!
A cozy little home away from home--a unique residence, hospitable landlords, lots of inside amenities and a quick walk to subway and stores. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
