Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

I have rented a house before but never has any house I rented felt so much like home. From the decor, to what was supplied (towels, dishes, pots) it was perfect. I truly did not need to bring a thing other than my own clothes and food. The location is very private and peaceful with great access to the lake. Kayaks were available which I used several times. The cabin is also located on a trail system which I also enjoyed. If you are looking for a quiet place with all the comforts of home, this is it.

Another great stay!!

Another great fishing trip in the books! Thanks again Mike and Susan for opening up your cabin to us. We had a great time and once again the cabin had everything one could need, right down to the giant stock pot for our clam boil. Love this place, so peaceful!

A beautiful, peaceful place

  • 5 of 5

We booked this cabin as a base to spend time with family who live in the area. It is hard to describe the tranquillity, the peace and sheer beauty of the lake. To sit on the stone pier in rocking chairs and watch eagles flying overhead, gazing at a small branch drifting past and listening to the stillness, it was unforgettable. Hearing my aunts, uncle and cousins telling tales of learning to swim on the pond and of youthful adventures many years ago was a joy. It was magic gliding across the pond in the kayaks which are supplied by the owners. The cabin is extremely well kitted out, there is everything you could possibly need. The owners don't live nearby but we had a great welcome from their friend who lives next door...if you can call it that...maybe half a mile through the woods. Altogether a very special place.

A World Away

  • 5 of 5

Early September was a beautiful time to visit. Killingly Pond is an incredibly tranquil and peaceful place. It's hard to believe it is so close to all of the conveniences.

The cabin itself was immaculate and stocked with everything anyone could ever need. That made it a very restful vacation; all of the comforts of home without any of the pressures.

The waterfront and land around the cabin is unspoiled and natural. A sacred place. We enjoyed outdoor fires and walks on the nearby trails. We kayaked, swam, and sat on the stone pier for hours, just soaking it all in.

A great spot for those who value serenity and desire a true escape from the hustle bustle world.

A Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our vacation at this beautiful house was one of the best our family has ever had. The property is tucked away deep in the woods and made it feel as if we had a gigantic estate all to ourselves. The "pond" is really a small lake with about 12 or so houses around it, none of them very close to each other.

There is a great stone dock built out into the water to sunbathe, read and relax, and its perfect for fishing. Right next to that is a "swimmers" entrance on a flat series of rocks that leads into the water. I cant not over-exaggerate just how crystal clear the water is. It's totally clean and refreshing, with no lily pads or plants or algae. Next to the swimming entrance is an area good for launching the rowboat and kayaks. These boats were a delight. Personal flotation jackets were kept in brand new condition in the bedroom closet, obviously cleaned and well maintained with no mildew.

The house comes with everything you can think of for cooking, baking, and entertaining except for a complete set of wine glasses, there are only 2, which was fine for us. Brand new kitchen appliances including microwave and toaster oven as well as a great Weber gas grill on the deck with a full tank of propane.

Towels for bathing and separate towels for swimming, sheets, extra blankets, paper towels, toilet paper, coffee filters etc, it was fully stocked and prepared for us.

Upon entering this modern cabin the first thing we noticed was how clean it smelled, like natural pine. None of the musty smells we have encountered in older rental houses. The screened in porch was our main base for eating, playing board games, watching the sun rise and set. It was perfect.

Other highlights: hiking the Rhode Island North South Trail which detours into CT for a few miles and abuts the property, campfires in each of the 2 fire pits, and daily swimming.

A hidden feature is close proximity to Killingly Commons where all of your basic shopping needs can be taken care of: Stop & Shop, Target, Michael's, etc. Plenty of cheap eats like pizza nearby and some fancier spots in Brooklyn and Putnam are close. Yet none of this seems close at all when you are relaxing in the totally quiet and secluded natural surroundings at the house.

Everything in the description and photos is accurate, and perhaps a bit humble. The owners and property manager were great in explaining everything to us ahead of time. I would highly recommend this place to friends and relatives.

Perfect destination

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has it all. It's completely isolated, but close to everything. Want a night out in Providence? No problem! Quiet reading by the water? Done and done! The lake is crystal clear and was always warm! Perfect for peaceful solitude or a warm get together with family and friends. Mike, Susan, and Gene were professional, helpful, and very friendly! Nothing beat kayaking through water that looked like glass on a calm morning or evening. Some of the photos we took belong on post cards. We can't wait to come back!
