For those who love the out door life there are walks to be made from just outside the front door or picnicking by the various cascades dotted throughout the mountains. Also in the village there are horse riding excursions through the Alpes. Skiing is available one hour away at the Col deTurini in the Mercontour and also if you take the train from Menton to Ventimiglia change train and head for Limone, Piemonte skiing is available there also. Even for those who do not ski the train journey is well worth doing as the scenery is beautiful. The cost from Menton to Limone is 5 Euro and takes about 40 minutes. During the months of February to March the Lemon Festival takes place in Menton. It really is a sight worth seeing with countries from all over the world taking part in their national costumes, parading through the boulevards of Menton. The oranges and lemons that grow around the boulevards of Menton are used during the festival to make palaces and statues depending which country is the honoured guest of Menton.

My partner and I travelled from NZ to stay at Le Petit Nid. We loved everything about the house, the village and the people. Guest Book comment from Richard Martin New Zealand
We were looking for charm, beautiful scenery, escapism from the maddening crowd, safety , peace of mind for our children and comfort, we found all of these qualities in one of our favorite holiday destinations- France.
Ste Agnes is a delightful village offering a unique opportunity to be active without the ‘hustle and bustle’ of traffic and most importantly to enjoy breathtaking scenery of the mountains and French Riviera whilst embracing the friendliness that this perfect little village exudes.
As a family of five with three children (of different ages) this was an excellent base to enable us to visit other beauty spots along the coast including neighbouring Italy and staying at “Le Petit Nid’ just added to the joy with its elegance and style………………..the making of a wonderful holiday……We shall definitely return to Ste Agnes
We stayed at Le Petit Nid in St Agnes for a week at the end of July. It was a very comfortable stay in this charming village. Le Petit Nid is in a very convenient position in the village close to all the restaurants and attractions ie the chateau and the fort.
All amenities in the house were very good, beds comfortable and generally a very pleasant standard of furnishings, very clean and tidy on arrival.
It is a very twisting road up to the village but the views are worth it. We would certainly recommend this property to friends or relatives. We found the people in the village, restaurants and shops to be very welcoming and obliging and the food was very good.We were sorry we had to leave before the Lavender Festival and would certainly aim to return for that on another occasion. The village is ideally situated for walkers as there are a number of paths marked from the village or just outside.
The village is about 20 minutes drive from Menton and there is a supermarket on the outskirts of the town. Menton is a very attractive town and highly recommended for a day visit. There is a regular bus service which takes half an hour each way although we did not use it. In all it was a very enjoyable place to stay.
Ste Agnes is a wonderful place! The incredible silence, broken only by birdsong and the wonderful sound of the bells at the church! There wasn’t any urban noise! As if we really had been transported in the Middle Ages…To live among the mountains in the medieval house and swim in the sea - an unusual and pleasant combination! Your house is really nice and very comfortable. People in Ste Agnes are frienly. My family were there very well. Thanks you very much for your hospitality Ms.Floyed from me and my family!
We spent very lovely days between the years: The house was nice and clean, the environment offers a lot of beauties and options. The village is very nice with two good restaurants and very friendly people.
We appreciated our time in St. Agnes a lot and we like to come back.
if you are looking for a quiet relaxing time in a lovely old village then this is it. St Agnes is set high above Menton( be wary of 1 Euro to get there on the local bus but 25Euro if you go by taxi!!!)and the house fronts the main street... but dont worry the street is only about 10ft wide and is for people only !!!
the house has been refubished (altho the GF bedroom hadnt been finished when i was there) and is cosy altho it would have been nice to have possibly had a settee in the living room instead of just chairs. Kitchen fuly fitted and doubles as eating area and main bedroom is lovely
the village has two restaurants both within 30 yards and there are walks and nice scenery around
If its old world charm and some peace and quiet you are looking for then its a nice place to try
The Village of Sainte Agnes is so quaint and picturesque. What a wonderful holiday! We were four American women in our late 20's traveling together. We had just come from Barcelona so it was a lovely and restful 4 days after being in a city. The people were very friendly even though we do not speak French. We went on some beautiful hikes around the village, especially memorable was the hike up to the medieval castle above the village. We had a nice time going down the mountain to the beach in Menton and enjoying a dinner in Menton. Our favorite restaurant in the village was Le Logis with the very friendly Thierry who runs the restuarant. It was great for both lunch and dinner. Absolotely stunning views. Suzette, the property's owner was very helpful and friendly when booking the apartment and answering all our questions. She told us about Le Logis since Thierry the owner speaks fluent English. She even let him know to look out for us in case we needed anything. The property itself is very typical of a medieval village home--small scale, but very quaint. The 2nd bedroom was the only draw back. It is below the house on the level of the main cobblestone path through the village and separate from the house. So, you have to walk outside to get back into the house to use the bathroom, etc. It was also very hot in that bedroom. That would be are only complaint about our experience-- not a very comfortable 2nd bedroom. We had a wonderful experience in Sainte Agnes and hope to return one day.

The nearest town is Menton with plenty of restaurants, beaches, shops and beautiful gardens. Menton is known as the pearl of the Cote D'Azur with its micro climate and wonderful lemon festival in February/March It attracts people from all over the world. In the summer there is a music festival. There are festivals all along the coast the whole summer through up till Christmas where Menton. displays a lovely Christmas exhibition selling all sorts of lovely edible things. The village of Ste Agnes has its own festivals through out the year. It is a great place for walking through the Alpes with literally walkways from just outside the front door. Horse riding trips through the Alpes are available in the village. Bordighera and its gigantic rubber trees is a must. All these locations including Monaco are easily reached by public transport which is very good in this lovely region of France. The village of Ste Agnes has its own grocery store open 6 days a week, 3 restaurants/bars and several artisan shops. There are 2 car parks as no cars are allowed inside this historical village which is over 1.000 years old and one of the most beautiful in France. There is a security deposit of 300 euros that will be returned to the guests once the house has been checked over. The security deposit is payable at the time of booking. Thank you.
Other Activities: During the summer there is a ferry crossing to Corsica from Menton
