Description

Photos and Description of this 6 bedroom holiday villa in Aci Sant'Antonio - Villa Alemà

16 sleeps, beautifully tended garden, well furnished, pool open all year round

Villa Alemà is a spacious villa with private pool and garden located on the south-eastern flanks of Mount Etna just a few minutes outside the towns of Aci S. Antonio and Acireale. The villa has high ceilings and smooth lava stone features. The garden is beautifully tended, with a perfect lawn and shaded areas, including a gazebo. The pool is 16 x 10 meters and up to 2.90 meters deep. Indoor and outdoor living areas combine seamlessly. The villa is perfectly located to explore the Eastern side of Sicily, but you will also be well content to relax in the stunning surroundings of the villa, the garden and the pool.

The villa consists of two floors and a dépendance.

From the main entrance you access the living room that once was a ‘palmento’, an antique olive crusher. The living room opens onto a covered patio area, perfect for dining during hot summer days. The ground floor has a spacious kitchen, a room with a pool table, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The 1st floor has a bathroom, 3 bedrooms with air conditioning and a terrace with a wide view on Mount Etna. In the garden is a renovated dependence with air conditioning, 3 sleeps and a bathroom.

Villa Alemà is also suitable for a winter stay thanks to the heating system and a gas heater in the palmento.

Internet connection available!

About Giulia Lattanzio / Lenneke Burghouts

We have been with Homeaway since 2006, proposing houses that are able to unfold Sicily's colours and charm at best.

Houses with quality furnishing in unique locations, with incredible views or with a pool, always accurately selected in order to satisfy our main wish: to see you falling in love with Sicily just like we did.

We provide you with transparent information and true pictures. What you see is exactly what you get. We will advise you as much as we can about travel info, transfers and car rental.

Dinners in villas and other extra services can also be arranged. Finally, our prices are final rates! There are no hidden additional costs. We are flexible with your arrivals and departures and if you need a late check-in this is usually possible.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We were absolutely delighted by the Villa Alema. It is furnished to a high standard and is much bigger than the photo's suggest. The pool is fantastic - we spent many hours in and around the pool. The keyholder was helpful and cheerful. Would we recomend Villa Alema - 100% yes! We had a wonderful holiday!

Lovely Villa. Would recommend. Would stay again.

Excellent villa, beautiful grounds, fantastic pool, brilliant BBQ set up.

Quirky and interesting building. Plenty of space, lots of different places for different people to sit to get away from group (inside, outside under-cover or not).

Great view of Etna from (one of the) balcony (ies).

Kids loved the wi fi.

Everyone enjoyed the pool table.

Owner was very helpful.

It was difficult to find first time, and we were late by the time we found it, but it was not an issue.

On the downside there weren't really enough wine or water glasses for 10 of us, and the beds were merely satisfactory. We didn't discover anything within walking distance worth walking to.

Pistachio ice cream and brioche bun recommeded!

Beautiful property and gardens

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful well maintained property in a lovely location. We were a family of 7 adults and 2 children. The house had ample room. The view of Etna from the garden is spectacular. The pool was clean and well kept - I read in some reviews that there were tiles missing in the pool - maybe 5 mosaic tiles were missing.

The kitchen is huge and well appointed. There's plenty of seating for a large family to eat.

The place is quite hard to find with GPS, so follow the instructions they give you. After having difficulties finding it the first time, it was easy to get to. There's nothing within walking distance from the house. But the are plenty of nice restaurants and super markets within 10 minutes drive.

Overall we loved our stay and would highly recommend this Villa.

Huge/beautifull villa with wonderfull view on ETNA

  • 4 of 5

Beautifull and huge villa where we were kindly welcomed. But kitchenware was insufficient for 16 personns. And the owner billed any broke even if the broke was due to its age, during normal usage, without providing bill or invoice. So be carefull on the villa equipment. The Forian Pizza near the villa was good and cheaper. ANd there is many lovely place near this villa: Traomina, Etna, Syracuse ...

We really appreciate our travel and our week spend in family.

A NIGHTMARE

  • 1 of 5

On arrival for easter week the house was ice cold, the heating not having been turned on. We were told not to use the 3rd bathroom despite being 7 adults. We were told we would have to pay ?100 extra for the use of the pooltable, no information of this beforehand. The huge sittingroom cum diningroom only had one gas terracewarmer for heating on which was a sticker saying ut was not to be used indoors. We were told to turn it off at night. Despite 26 degrees outside, this room was too cold to stay in even with the heater on. The room smelt of gas when it was in use. The only other room we could stay together in was occupied by a pooltable. The kitchen did not have a fan despite having a fan hood, so the windows clouded every time we made food. The beds were uncomfortable; you could feel the metal springs through the matress cover. The caretaker woke us up one night to inspect the villa unannounced. The hot water was inadequate and the Internet was erratic. The properties on either side are being used for storing building equipment. The english speaking caretaker never took her phone. The other caretaker could not speak english. When asking the agency if we could change villa, we were first told that we could do this without loss of money, then they changed their mind and said we would lose 2/3 of the remaining rent."

Owner's Response: I will repeat here what I have already said directly to you. I would like to give our future guests the chance to know the other side of the story, because there is always one. First of all I would like to say that we take seriously both advises and complaints of our guests and that my colleague Joris went personally to the villa soon after your stay to check its status. He found it impeccable. He did not find any bad materasses and Internet seemed to work properly. He also talked with the keyholder who claims to have never forbid you to use the 3rd bathroom - and indeed you use it - as well as he did not ask you money for the use of the pooltable, but rather warn you that in case of damages he would require 100E. I cannot say who is right. I can imagine that the language barrier contributed to misunderstandings, but we trust our keyholder since we have worked with him since long time. Certainly I was surpriced to hear - towards the end of your stay - your list of negative experiences in the villa. I was so, because we spoke several time and in the first contacts you have told me that the only problem of the villa was the temperature in the living room. I still have emails from you stating that. I admit to have agreed to your request of changing villa, but you did not mention why I have suddenly ‘changed my mind’. At first I believed that the living room was too cold because the heating did not work. Since I know the importance of a room like the living room during holidays I thought that a change of villa could have be considered. But I spoke too soon. I then find out, speaking first with the keyholder and than with you, that the heating was working properly, but you did refuse to use it because you thought it was unsafe. At this point changing villa or a refund was not an option and I tried to explain that the gas stove in the living room was safe and tested by other guests during winter when temperatures are much lower than 26°C. As for the keyholder showing up at 22.30, it was my fault. I have called the keyholder late that day asking him to help you figure out the use of the gas stove. He decided to come immediately. 22.30 is too late to show up unannounced and I apologize for that, but I hope you understand that it was meant with our best intentions. I am really sorry that your experience was negative. We would be much happier to have clients that liked the house. So I am really sorry in any case.

Just amazing

  • 5 of 5

We spend a week in Acireale and just loved it. The house is perfect for a big group, even for 3 families! The garden and pool looked very good and well maintained. The landlord went out of his way to be helpful, offered to make all reservations we would like, came up with day trips and restaurants... we would love to go back.

Villa Alemà is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily. The villa lies almost halfway between Catania and Taormina and just five kilometres from Acireale (a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches). Gardini Naxos, a seaside resort with a sandy beach, is just 35 kilometres away. Just a little further you'll find Taormina ‘the pearl of the Mediterranean’ and the most exclusive seaside resorts in Sicily. Its ancient Greek theatre is world famous for its extraordinary panoramic view. Santa Maria la Scala, AciTrezza, and Santa Tecla are pleasant seaside villages near Villa Alemà where you can find delicious granite and very good restaurants.

The 18 hole Golf course Il Picciolo is an easy drive (45 minutes).
