|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
The apartment has a modern furnishing an is only a few steps away from the ancient Greek theatre and from the cable car which ferries tourists to and from the seaside resorts down along the coast (such as the famous Isola Bella). The apartment is in the centre of Taormina, but offers the tranquility and the views of a house at the sea. The apartment is located in a typical Italian 'palazzo', that has been subdivided in a couple of apartments.
The apartment is on the 1st floor (without elevator) and is divided in two levels. The first level consists of a bathroom, a modern kitchen with a dining table and seven chairs, a corner with 2 single sofa beds (both high quality), and windows with views on Taormina. The upper level consists of a bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom, and a bedroom with a single bed. From this level there is access to the terrace with a set of table and chairs and a view on the Ionian coast and some palm trees.
Taormina: Taormina has been a very popular tourist destination since the 19th century. It has popular beaches on the Ionian sea, which is remarkably warm and has a high salt content. Beautifully restored medieval buildings, breathtaking views around every corner and a giddy network of winding streets strewn with shops, bars and restaurants make for a perfect holiday spot. Just south of Taormina is the Isola Bella, a nature reserve and a beautiful bay. Tours of the Capo Sant' Andrea grottos are also available. Taormina is built on an extremely hilly coast, and is approximately a forty-five minute drive away from Europe's largest active volcano, Mount Etna. Many manifestations and events are organized during the summer in Taormina. The exceptional frame for pop and classical concerts, opera and important performances is the Ancient Theatre. Taormina is served by its very own cable car which ferries tourists to and from the seaside resorts down along the coast.
Exploring Mount Etna: Taormina is also an excellent base from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The villages of Etna, such as Piedimonte Etneo, Castiglione and Francavilla di Sicilia and Randazzo are famous for their ancient lava flows, the architecture of their seventeenth century churches, their delicious local produce and the hospitality of the villagers. Situated 700 metres above sea level, they are a favourite retreat of the city dwellers who, in summer are in search of cool, fresh air, while in winter are in search of snow for skiing. Few people are aware that Etna is a popular location for skiers in winter. On some glorious days in winter, it’s even possible to ski the frozen slopes in the morning enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and then, the same afternoon, go and sunbathe on the beaches below.
We have been with Homeaway since 2006, proposing houses that are able to unfold Sicily's colours and charm at best.
Houses with quality furnishing in unique locations, with incredible views or with a pool, always accurately selected in order to satisfy our main wish: to see you falling in love with Sicily just like we did.
We provide you with transparent information and true pictures. What you see is exactly what you get. We will advise you as much as we can about travel info, transfers and car rental.
Dinners in villas and other extra services can also be arranged. Finally, our prices are final rates! There are no hidden additional costs. We are flexible with your arrivals and departures and if you need a late check-in this is usually possible.
Giulia Lattanzio / Lenneke Burghouts purchased this apartment in 2007
It is a very nice Flat in the mid of the Town of Taormina. It is one of the highest Houses in the lower Part near the antic theatre. The service of the customer was very good... especialy becaus our flight was delayd by 5 houres and i had to call an tell him that we will arrive late in te evening araound 10 pm. It was no Problem...
Arrived late in the evening.Would have appreciated milk in fridge,Overall enjoyed our stay.
The property was attractive but was suffering from neglect. It was advertised as 'air-conditioned' and this was not true. The double bedroom upstairs was air-conditioned, but the second bedroom was not and downstairs had no air-conditioning which was uncomfortable. The roof terrace was nice but there was a broken chair left there and the clothes dryer was full of rust. There is no wifi, which in this day and age is disappointing. The views from the apartment are stunning and with a little care and attention, this apartment could merit 5 stars. As it is, and for the significant weekly rate, it was a disappointment in many respects and I would not choose it again.
Très beau appartement proche du centre de Taormina avec une terrasse superbe , très calme comme en campagne et proche de tout.
Une très belle vue sur la baie de Giardini Naxos , très romantique pour les couples.
The apartment is exactly as it looks in the photos -- well-appointed apartment with a terrace, fabulous views, and three separate sleeping areas -- and the owners were gracious enough to accommodate a last-minute change in plans when our arrival was delayed due to weather.
The location can't be beat: just off Corso Umberto, near the tourist office and Porto Messina, with gorgeous views from the windows and terrace. But be forewarned: getting to the apartment requires climbing a generous number of stairs, whichever way you approach it. This is not a location for the elderly or those who do not enjoy climbing (lots of) stairs.
There's a well-stocked grocery store at the far end of Corso Umberto, past Porto Catania, and a number of smaller groceries within two or three blocks of the apartment. We took a day trip to Agrigento and Enna with a car and driver from Sicily Life, which we would recommend, and would also recommend the ristorante near the apartment, La Botte, and the gelateria on Corso Umberto most of the way to Porto Catania (on the right).
The major drawback of this apartment is the lack of internet access. In this day and age, visitors want and need access to the internet. Not only is there no internet in the apartment, there is only one internet cafe in Taormina (near the other end of the Corso Umberto). However, we found that we could sit outside and "borrow" the wifi signal from the virtual casino on Via Iallia Bassia, about three blocks away.
Taormina is a lovely town in a delightful location, and this apartment makes a stay in Taormina both enjoyable and feasible. Buon viaggio!
Superb location which could not have been better, 3 minutes from main street and 5 minutes from cable car.
Well laid out and stock more than sufficiently with hairdryer, iron, coffee maker, washing machine etc.
Apartment is located in a quiet area of Taormina, i.e. not distraction from passing traffic or people.
I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone.
Wonder around the narrow streets in the evening, you are guaranteed to find a nicer resturant every evening. Check out Deja Vu bar (in piazza paladini) and Morgana bar's, or site on the patio of the apartment you may be treated to fire-works display over the harbour.
Great place. Go for if, it is fabulous.
Taormina is a a chic and picturesque town that is also renown as 'the pearl of the Mediterranean sea'. The apartment is located in a typical Italian 'palazzo', that has been subdivided in a couple of apartments. The elegant palazzo can be reached by walking towards the Greek theatre, turning left in a ascending side street (with about 20 steps).
The houses’ location in the centre of Taormina makes it ideal for a stay at any time of the year. Taormina is blessed with sunshine all year round. Once Taormina was a climatic spa for winter holidays. Tourism during summer has developed only in the last decades.
Other Activities: Escursion to Mount Etna.
