About Ken

Having traveled moderately in my career, I wanted to create a unique lodging experience for guests, with those things typically absent in my hotel stays, including:

Unquestionably freshly laundered linens and comforters; adequate electronic connectivity; reliable high-speed internet; a hamper and liner for collecting and transporting worn laundry; laundered house robes, a loaner umbrella; and a spa-grade bathroom area.

While our rates may be slightly higher than other properties, it comes with a high degree of privacy, comfort and cleanliness.

About Us:

We (Dave and Ken) migrated from the Chicago and New Haven areas 17 years ago and moved to Tampa. Ken served as Director for Information Technology for a large non-profit, and Dave, first as a techie, turned mortgage underwriter.

Settling first in the Tampa's Carrollwood suburb we opted to return to the city's core three years ago where we took on the task of rehabbing our investment property of ten years into a permanent home. We love the location and urban feel of living just north of downtown.

Ken purchased this house in 2003

Why Ken chose Tampa Heights

A quaint Tampa Heights neighborhood undergoing significant gentrification in recent years; where neighbors know one another and large oak trees canopy much of the area. A convenience store is located across the street for sundries and snacks. Tampa's weather and nearby attractions make it a great destination for business travel or a getaway weekend.

As the oldest neighborhood in Tampa Heights, it is culturally diverse, inhabited by mostly working class families, and includes some older homes in need of repair. If you like eclectic, urban neighborhoods, with lots of ethnic restaurants and conveniences, this is a great place to stay. The owners have lived here for 15 years, know their neighbors, and have never had any security or safety issues.

The home, built in 1923, was scheduled for demolition in 2003. We purchased it in early 2004, completed improvements, and it served as a rental property until 2012. Construction for the new space began in 2013 when we added the guest wing and completed other upgrades.

Come enjoy our great weather and wicked awesome hospitality!

We are LGBTQ affirming property hosts.

From the location to Downtown Tampa to the lovely and welcoming room. Fantastic. We felt comfortable, relaxed and rested. Our hosts were most gracious and have established a lovely area of their home to share with guests. We loved it and when in the Tampa area again, hope this cool spot is open for our stay.

Peaceful oasis

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The room is well appointed and the shower is awesome. The room very private with a cute porch and sitting area outside. Greats hosts are available if you need them, but the room is so well thought out, with extras from menus to local restaurants, to extra towels and toiletries, that it's unlikely you will. We will definitely book again when we are in the area.

Highly recommended. Comfortable, clean. Everything you could need!

  • 5 of 5

This private suite was perfect. The bedroom and bathroom were so clean and comfortable. Ken and Dave were very gracious hosts. They were there if we needed anything, yet also gave us as much privacy as we wanted. We had access to the kitchen, where we had room in the pantry and the fridge to store any groceries/ leftovers. There is a lovely backyard with a deck. The bathroom has a huge beautiful walk-in shower. The hosts also provides some toiletries and other necessities in case there is anything you may have forgotten. We felt like our hosts truly cared about making our stay relaxing and comfortable.

We also left something behind, and Ken was kind enough to ship it home for us.

Highly recommend to any couple or single looking for a nice place to stay in Tampa.
