We (Dave and Ken) migrated from the Chicago and New Haven areas 17 years ago and moved to Tampa. Ken served as Director for Information Technology for a large non-profit, and Dave, first as a techie, turned mortgage underwriter.
Settling first in the Tampa's Carrollwood suburb we opted to return to the city's core three years ago where we took on the task of rehabbing our investment property of ten years into a permanent home. We love the location and urban feel of living just north of downtown.
Ken purchased this house in 2003
A quaint Tampa Heights neighborhood undergoing significant gentrification in recent years; where neighbors know one another and large oak trees canopy much of the area. A convenience store is located across the street for sundries and snacks. Tampa's weather and nearby attractions make it a great destination for business travel or a getaway weekend.
As the oldest neighborhood in Tampa Heights, it is culturally diverse, inhabited by mostly working class families, and includes some older homes in need of repair. If you like eclectic, urban neighborhoods, with lots of ethnic restaurants and conveniences, this is a great place to stay. The owners have lived here for 15 years, know their neighbors, and have never had any security or safety issues.
The home, built in 1923, was scheduled for demolition in 2003. We purchased it in early 2004, completed improvements, and it served as a rental property until 2012. Construction for the new space began in 2013 when we added the guest wing and completed other upgrades.
Come enjoy our great weather and wicked awesome hospitality!

This was our first time using Vrbo and were a little worried about it. But the house was comfortable and Our hosts never bothered us. No complaints about the home but the area is definitely not a tourist place; unless you're planning to spend most of your time at ybor city. The price was great so if you don't mind a lengthy drive to , this place is for you!
So glad to have stayed here! Woke up to coffee every morning and could spend as much time as I wanted lounging on the deck in the back yard. This was a great location for a long, scenic run. A couple of miles takes you through downtown before you end up on a long , wide sidewalk by the water. There is plenty to do nearby, as well, whether you want to eat, shop, explore cultural activities, or just relax. Again, Ken is a stellar and accommodating host!
The house is so lovely and clean. Feels brand new. The bedroom and bathroom were great. The bed was very comfortable. I will be back for sure. Thanks Ken and Dave for making me feel so welcome.
This charming and well-equipped Craftsman cottage, lovingly renovated by Ken and Dave, will make you feel right at home! We received a warm welcome from our friendly host and many helpful suggestions for activities and area attractions!
We really enjoyed our 5 days stay here. The house is beautiful and our rental room had everything that we could possibly need. The host, Ken was very friendly and helpful. We arrived without a car and the rental is in an area that is very close to a bus route so we found it easy to get around Tampa. We would love to stay here again if we are ever back in the Tampa area
