About the property

Secluded location, 5 km from Seillans village, 4 bedrooms/ sleeps 7, 4 bathrooms

Le Rayol is a carefully renovated natural stone villa standing in 15 acres of terraced olive-groves, maritime pine trees and grass. The house faces south-east and the house-front and terraced patio (for 'al fresco' meals!) are covered. Here you will find peace and quiet, summer breezes, carrying the scent of lavender, thyme, rosemary and pine, and a 'forever' view to die for.

In the white washed clear and simple decor of the house you will also find some family antiques. The windows have wooden shutters on the inside and out. There is a 12x6 m outdoor private swimming-pool and a breathtaking open view over the hills towards the sea. Easy winter-living: you will find central heating and a fire place for the cooler months of the year. The house also adjusts well for 2 people. There are no immediate neighbours. Shaded parking. Outdoor furniture provided. Please note that the last 800 metres or so of road to the property is not tarred and its condition varies depending on the weather. After many weeks of heavy rain (very rare during the main season) one has to drive carefully to avoid small rock protrusions. No need for 4x4 vehicles.

Our 4 weeks at 'Le Rayol' were fantastic. It was a real pleasure to live there for such long holidays and we enjoyed every minute of it. It is a beautiful estate and all was perfect. We felt blessed by the complete seclusion of Le Rayol thanks to the substantial land surrounding it. The beauty of the nature, the animals and the privacy were really enjoyed by us when we made our walks through the environnement almost every day. Also we benefitted from the almost permanent cloudless skies to do a lot of 'star gazing' at night. You have developped a beautifully landscaped garden with numerous terraces and lovely olive trees.



Just to say how very much we all enjoyed our week at Le Rayol. It really is the most wonderful place - the beautifully furnished house, the superb pool with its breathtaking views and the magical gardens. We loved Seillans and enjoyed exploring many of the surrounding villages. Thank you again for letting us use your fantastic house.

Notes:
Cleaning lady on request once a week (15 € per hour), guests staying-on longer than 1 week are obliged to have our cleaning lady in on a weekly basis on Saturdays for 3-4 hours (depending on how many people are staying for € 15 per hour). She will change the bed-linen and towels and clean the house. Swimming pool not enclosed. Twice weekly professional swimming pool maintenance during the main season. Outside store-room for garden furniture. Track towards the house not tarred for the last 800m or so, drive carefully if small rocks protruding. No need for 4x4 vehicle.

Séjour à Seillans

J'ai passé une semaine de vacances avec ma mère et une amie dans un lieu de rêve, tout à côté du village de Seillans dans le Var. La maison, une ancienne bastide provençale restaurée, se niche loin des regards et de la route au milieu d'une forêt de chênes et de pins. Construite dans une clairière d'oliviers centenaires et de cyprès, la maison et sa piscine surplombent une vue magnifique sur les collines verdoyantes, la vallée et les monts bleutés à l'horizon. Pour nous qui recherchions repos et calme, l'endroit s'est révélé tout simplement paradisiaque. Aucune autre maison en vue, aucun bruit de voiture ni de voisinage. Nous n'avions pour seuls compagnons que les grillons et les cigales, les oiseaux, les papillons et de temps à autre un âne qui braie au loin. La maison reste fraîche malgré la chaleur, elle est décorée avec beaucoup de goût, les meubles anciens lui donnent un charme, une patine et une âme. On s'y sent bien, loin du monde mais dans un cadre enveloppant. Si nous avions envie de sortir de notre bulle, nous pouvions nous promener à Seillans ou Fayence, deux villages tout proches qui sont restés d'authentiques villages provençaux. Notre semaine de vacances dans ce cadre idyllique pourrait se résumer en trois mots: luxe, calme et volupté! Elsie

The beds were very comfortable in the 3 bedrooms, and the sofa bed was okay. The pool was big and clean, and we enjoyed being far away from any neighbours, but still only a 10 minutes drive from Seillans. We highly recommend the restaurant "Le gloire de mon père" in Seillans.

We fell in love with Le Rayol

We spent 4 weeks in June/July 2017 at le Rayol. The property is just stunning. If you are looking for a quiet paradis far away from any other soul, Le Rayol is the place to be. The pool is quiet big and has a beautiful view towards the valley. The house is surrounded with nature as far as you can see.

The house is furnished with a good taste - you wont find any ikea-furniture. The owner has a good taste for antique-stuff! And you can really cook at le Rayol - the owner has a good equipped kitchen.

We spent 3 weeks alone as a couple and 1 week with 3 teenage kids. I would recommend Le Rayol for maximum 4 adult persons. (There is a big master bedroom and a separate garden-bedroom with its own bathroom. The 3. bedroom with also its own bathroom is good for kids - but not comparable with the other bedrooms.)

Driving to le Rayol from the village Seillans is quiet a challenge. The route is more a path between trees and we crossed wild boar at night. We had a offroader and even with this car we did not just leave le Rayol to get croissants. It`s just to hard to drive)

We will definitely come back at le Rayol. We fell in love with it.

Ein wundervoller Platz der Ruhe und Schönheit!

Das Anwesen besteht aus einem geräumigen provencalischen Landhaus (mit wunderschönen Möbeln und Badezimmern), einer großen Gartenanlage mit Oleander und Olivenbäumen sowie einem großzügigen Pool. Bemerkenswert ist die absolute Ruhe an diesem Platz. Es ist uns sehr schwer gefallen, wieder wegzufahren.

A Gem

This our second visit to this villa, which is unprecedented for us. If you like rural and quiet, but the luxury of a well appointed house and wonderful pool with lovely views, then this is it. The only disturbance you will get will be the very discrete pool cleaner once per week, the drifting gliders and the occasional sound of various friendly wildlife.

You can walk into Seillans (typical hill top town), which takes about 40 minutes, so you are not completely cut off from civilisation. There is a Michelin star restaurant there, which is very good (and not too expensive). The walk is through the ancient trees that surround the villa for miles and is well worth doing. You are in easy reach of Monte Carlo, Antibes, Nice etc and you have all the amenities that you would need within a relatively short drive. The 'road' to the villa is a hoot, so best leave the Lamborghini at home.... the little Peugeot that we had coped admirably.

Importantly Sebastian is the perfect owner and gentleman - always responds to emails and is extremely helpful.

We will be going back again.

Le Rayol is situated on a hill side facing south-east towards the sea. It is surrounded by green hills and pine woods. The air is crystal clear. The next village is Seillans, a picturesque medieval place, classified as 'one of France's most beautiful villages', where the famous artist Max Ernst chose to spend the last years of his life. Seillans, with fountains, winding cobbled streets, shaded squares, with restaurants and cafés inviting you to sit outside and let village life go by. It has 2 boulangeries, a small supermarket, a chemist and a 'tabac'. Within a radius of 10 km, you can reach other medieval villages (villages perchés), also with weekly markets, antique shops, restaurants and cafes.
