Simply a wonderful 1,350 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2 full bath home. The master suite includes a queen size bed, private master bath with double sinks and a walk-in closet. Bedroom 2 features a full size bed with closet and dresser. Bedroom 3 includes two twin beds, end dresser and closet. The living space is spacious and inviting with an open kitchen, breakfast bar and dining area. Additional amenities include cable tv, high speed wifi internet, refrigerated air conditioning, barbeque grill, dishes, cookware, and laundry supplies. Our home is also very close to grocery store and several restaurants.
If half stars were available our rating would be 4.5.
We three adults used the house as a home base for our explorations of the Guadalupe Mountains NP and Carlsbad Caverns. The house was as advertised, clean, well appointed and easy to access. In my opinion it actually had more amenities than advertised as the house was equipped with Direct-TV with an HBO account. The house is located in a quiet residential area of Carlsbad. The owner was attentive before and after our stay but did not bother us during. I'm sure she would have been readily available if needed. We had one very minor issue with the drain being slow in the guest bathroom. We informed Adrian when we left and I am sure it has been fixed by now.
One improvement we would suggest is to upgrade the master bedroom bed to a king size with a less noisy box spring. This is a minor issue but when you are used to a king size bed it is hard to adjust down.
The home was clean and outfitted well. Close to everything we needed. Family had a great time and we would stay again.
Our family of 8 stayed 3 nights at La Cueva. The location worked well for us. The home is nicely furnished and the kitchen is well supplied.
We stayed four nights at La Cueva and found the house to be a perfect sanctuary after a day of hiking or exploring the caverns. Considering there is typically lots of time spent in the car, being able to spread out in a comfortable, three bedroom home in the evening made the trip that much more enjoyable. When we walked around the neighborhood in the evening, we found the neighborhood to be friendly and safe. Equipped with most anything you need, and with stores only a hop, skip and a jump away, we did not lack for anything.
Nice, roomy and comfortable. Good location for visiting national parks.
We stayed in this nice house to visit the caverns and do some general sight-seeing in Carlsbad this summer. This property was perfect for this family of 6. Plenty of room, nice accommodations. The neighborhood is ok, but there are lots of families and after spending a few days there, we didn't feel uncomfortable. As a previous reviewer stated, this house needs a pizza cutter! Really, that's the only thing about the house I would improve :) Also, a notebook that guests can make suggestions to each other in would be great (this has been something I've seen at other rentals we've had, it's a great help in choosing restaurants, attractions, etc.) Adrian, the owner, was great. Very attentive to our needs during our stay. Never made us feel like we were bothering him, very friendly and helpful. There was a small delay in getting our refund of the deposit, but once alerted to this, he was very responsive and it was done that day.
We would absolutely stay here again when visiting Carlsbad in the future!

There’s something to do for everyone in Carlsbad, whether you’re visiting with young children or are an avid outdoorsman eager to crawl through caves and hike treacherous mountain trails.
Your visit wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico, the most popular area attraction due to its immensely beautiful caves. After spending the day touring the caves, make sure to stick around until sunset for Carlsbad Caverns National Park’s Bat Flight Program. Each evening from mid-April to late October, visitors gather at the Bat Flight Amphitheater to learn all about the fascinating bat species that live inside the cavern from a park ranger before watching thousands of them fly out of the cavern in search of insects to eat. It is a memorable experience that should not be missed.
