Beach-Berry is a fabulous three-level end-unit townhome. It is one of the newer homes in the secluded gated community of Barrier Dunes. Since purchasing the home Feb. 2012, I have screened in the back porch, added a deck, enclosed the outdoor shower, and installed wood flooring in the main living area. The home is pond front overlooking the tranquil fountain with a small ocean veiw from the third floor balcony. It has a concrete driveway and covered parking for your car and boat. My home is a very private end unit and perfectly located in Barrier Dunes. The ocean, beautiful beaches, tennis courts, two pools, and children's playground are all 500 steps or less from my door-step. Beach-Berry is a well cared for townhome in a secure family community. I have added many touches to make this your very special home away from home. It is beautifully decorated in the colors of the sea with a beach breezy nautical decor. A bottle of Beach Berry wine, a product of the Chautauqua Winery in DeFuniak Springs, will be waiting for you upon arrival. Toast your vacation and then stroll to the beach, catch the awesome beauty of the 20 ft high dunes, and the unspoiled white sand beaches. Capture a radiant Cape sunset, observe sea birds scooping up their dinner, and catch the dolphins playing near the shore line. What you will not find here are crowded beaches and commercialism. This is a serene beautiful place to reconnect with nature, renourish the spirit, enjoy family, make new friends, and create lifetime memories.

At Beach-Berry townhome, I want you and your family, young and old alike, to feel relaxed and carefree. I have included many extras you would not normally find in a beach rental. So enjoy the complimentary wine, sand toys and chairs for your family to take to the beach, floats, boogie boards and beach balls for the swimming pools, rainy day toys/activities for the children, a variety of movies and CD's by top artists. There are facilites/supplies to wash your boat, FIVE ADULT BIKES including one 3 wheeler with large basket for riding in Barrier Dunes and on the peninsula bike trail; a book collection of novels, children's bedtime story books, and TENNIS RACKETS for the nearby courts. You will find a well stocked kitchen with every large and small appliance/utensil that I could imagine you would need for preparing family meals. You have a nice size electric stove/oven, built in microwave, dishwasher and a refrigerator with an ice maker. I have even included some spices and cookbooks. China and sliverware service will accommodate at least eight.

New purchases include a flat screen Sony Bravo TV, new coffee maker with automatic shut-off timer, George Foreman 24' Electric Grill, and a large gas grill with side burner for cooking up the catch of the day, a very comfortable elegant futon for relaxing and enjoying a good book. To stay connected and share your beach experiences a new router for wireless internet service has just been installed.

For your grooming and comfort needs, I have included extra coat hangers, an iron/ironing board, and 2 hair dryers. I stock good quality bed linens, thick towels, soaps, soft tissue paper and paper towels. The laundry room on the main floor has a full size washer and dryer.

My townhome will comfortably sleep 6-8 people.The large master bedroom has a queen size bed, and a futon that easily folds out to a comfortable bed that will sleep one adult or two children. The master bathroom has a double sink vanity, and a shower separate from the tub. The guest bedroom has two twin beds and a full bath. Down stairs in the large living /dining area is the couch that converts into a comfortable queen size bed. There is also a half bath on this floor.

The floor plan is open and bright with a large bay window seat with comfortable pillows for reading or just daydreaming. The large wood dining table will seat 6, and there is a kitchen bar and 2 stools, and small kitchen table/2 chairs for extra seating. The open floor plan allows you to cook while keeping an eye on the actitivites going on in the main living area.

You will just love the large screened in back porch off the living area with western Gulf horizon exposure overlooking the lake's fountain. The sound of the water cascading from the fountain is very soothing. As the sun peeks out after a shower on a hot summer day, you may capture the rainbow arching over the sparkling water of the fountain.

Beach-Berry is family friendly, so bring the kids and grandparents. Enjoy, relax, and make beautiful memories. You will want to return every year.

I live in DeFuniak Springs, Fl. which is 100 miles from the Cape. I have traveled to many beautiful places, however few areas compare to the natural beauty of the Cape and Florida's Forgotten Coast. My family and friends in Northwest Florida feel this is a very special place to unwind and enjoy 'Old Florida'' the way it was before high rises and theme parks. My family has visited St. Joseph Peninsula State Park many times. In January of 2012, I had the good fortune to purchase my beautiful townhome situated in the premier community of Barrrier Dunes.It was love at first sight. I knew the time was right for me to buy my vacation home. I recently retired from education, and I plan to spend much of my time at Barrier Dunes wth family and friends. My home was in excellent condition when I purchased it. However, I have spent many hours adding the little extra touches and conveniences to make this a very special place for me, as well as, my guests.

I knew I wanted to have a vacation home near or on the Cape. Barrier Dunes has it all--small gated community, family oriented atmosphere, tennis courts, swimming pools, club house, playground, three small lakes and one of the best beaches in the USA. Best of all, Barrier Dunes abuts St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. You are in an ocean front community and directly across the street is beautiful St. Joesph Bay. You could not ask for more.

What makes this townhome unique

My family and friends love to fish and go scalloping. We have caught bass in Barrier Dunes ponds, whiting and pompano in the ocean surf, red fish, trout and flounder in the bay, and have scooped buckets full of bay scallops. We also like to ride our bikes on the 15 mile Peninsula bike trail, hike the trails around the 20 ft. dunes, explore the bay by kayak, or take boat trips in the bay and gulf. When the surf is up, my son is surfing. My mid-western relatives are looking foward to the well-maintained lighted tennis courts of Barrier Dunes and the St. Joseph Bay Golf Course just 15 minutes away. Evenings are spent watching the sunset, strolling the beach, and collecting shells. At Barrier Dunes you will meet new friends over a beach bonfire on a starry night. There is plenty to do within walking or bike riding distance. Just park your car, chill out, and bring your fishing gear.

I am continually taking my guest suggestions and making upgrades and new purchases to my home. In 2014 I purchased a new large gas grill (Chargriller 3001 Pro 40,800 BTU and installed new Pergo Wood flooring in the main living area. I also had the screening replaced on the back porch. (No insects while you grill or eat out) Added additional beach chairs, and always stocking more boogie boards. For older adults like myself, I now have a 3 wheel adult bike for your use with a large basket for carrying your beach stuff. Beach Berry is my only vacation home and I am most fortunate to enjoy my home with family and guests. So come on down, just bring your beach attire, flip flops and relax on Florida's best beach.

Great Condo with plenty of room!

We had a lovely time at Cape San Blass. After staying for many years at Destin, Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and fighting the traffic and crowds on the beach, it was great to enjoy the quiet and almost deserted beach. The condo had everything I needed. There was plenty of room for my two granddaughters, my daughter and I to spread out. We used the condo's bikes, and sand chairs.

Remember to pack beach towels and bug spray for the biting flies on the beach. We loved the wind, because the flies would disappear.

Everyone must try the glazed croissant from the doughnut shop in Cape San Blass.

We visited Apalachicola for the day. It is only 45 minutes away. We had lunch at the Owl Nest, it was very good. We enjoyed visiting all the quaint shops.

The condo was wonderful and the area is fantastic.

Beach Berry in Feb.

The weather was the best part of Beach Berry! If you like early Salvation Army décor, you will enjoy this!

Unusable bikes nd rusty grills did not add to my stay, Lots of books but no reading lamps in living room

or bedroom Lots of clutter.. Also no lighting in the dining area, Kitchen needs cooking dishes and utensils,

dishwasher works but needs repairs, All chairs on the decks are old plastic. Compared to former rentals

this was a real disappointment. It. It was clean,

Owner's Response: I have actively rented my home for 4 years and this is the first review I have received that was less than a 5 or 4 star review. I did everything I could do to make Mrs Williamson's month long stay enjoyable. She complained about the quality of the bikes so I told her to purchase a new one and I would reimburse her the cost. She did purchase one and was promptly reimbursed the full cost of the bike. I have very adequate lighting in my home. She complained that the light bulbs went out during her month long stay. I provide additional bulbs for replacement. She said she was 5 ft tall and 83 years of age and could not replace them herself and to please advise. I am sure if asked a neighbor would have replaced the bulbs for her. I am sorry she felt my furnishings and decor were not up to her standards. Prior to renting my home she had the opportunity to do a walk through the prior year before deciding on my home. I am now wondering why she selected my home. I take pride in making my home comfortable and family friendly selecting durable and functional furnishings that the whole family can use and enjoy. I may also mention I do not normally rent to individuals with pets. I made an exception for her since she was traveling alone from Idaho. I now regret allowing her dog to stay. He completely tore the back porch screen at the seams. She compensated me by leaving $20 for repair but it will have to be replaced. That said I am glad she found my home clean.

The property was GREAT for a family with two small children. Very close to a playground and pool!

Although it was located a little further from the beach then other units, we REALLY enjoyed the bikes available for us to ride to the pools and the beach and the nearby playground. We also were able to bike to an ice cream shop and into the state park. It rained a lot while we were staying, but the unit had plenty of games and space to spend our time indoors with out going too crazy! The futon was perfect in the master bedroom for our youngest to sleep on until she got accustomed to the new place. Being located beside one of the ponds provided fun in feeding the turtles too! Barbara was so helpful in letting us know what we would need to bring with us. She even called to check on us and make sure we didn't need anything. I would definitely recommend this property to others!

Home Away from Home

With a first visit, you never know what you will find. What a pleasure to know that Barbara has shared her home with us! We found everything we needed and the condo was in excellent condition! All the comforts of home with the pools and beach just a walk away. We retired ladies usually go further down the coast but have found a perfect place here closer to home. Barbara, the condo owner, kept in touch to make sure we had everything we needed - that was very refreshing! Plans are to return again and again!

Great stay on Cape San Blas

My two sisters and I stayed here for our annual Sister Trip. We enjoyed our stay and found the townhouse as described. We enjoyed riding the bikes that were provided through the complex and along the bike path on the main road. There was an abundance of chairs and other beach supplies and toys supplied for our use. We appreciated the call from the owner after we arrived to check to see if we had questions or concerns. We will go again!

Great Vacation Place

The Beach Berry townhouse we rented was great. The townhouse was large enough to allow for privacy when desired (2 bedrooms, multiple levels, porch, patio, etc.) while the kitchen/dining/living room area was great for family time. The walk to the beach was at most 5 minutes and all within the gated-community. The beach was beautiful and uncrowded (October). While we did not ride the bikes (a couple of our days were rainy/wet), several were available for our use. It was quiet, comfortable, relaxing - overall very enjoyable. The owner's communications were timely and helpful. The listed description that we read last spring before submitting our reservation was very accurate. The property appeared to be well-maintained.

The road into St. Joseph's State Park was just around the corner. The park had great Nature Trails to explore.

We ate out twice for dinner: at The Sand Bucket Smokehouse & Grill which was great, and at Cone Head which was good but not great. On a trip into Port St. Joe on one of the rainy days, we had lunch at a relatively new artisan coffee/wine shop on one of the main streets in the downtown area - about a block down from a book store. The coffee drinks and salads were very good! On our drive back to Georgia where our daughter lives, we stopped at The Sand Bucket to pick up a quart of their Brunswick Stew for our dinner that evening.

We would not hesitate to rent this property again if we return to this region for a vacation (we live in Pennsylvania so it's a long trip down). We would certainly recommend Cape San Blas as a vacation spot and we would recommend this property to friends/relatives who plan to vacation on Cape San Blas.
