*$10 Late Arrival Check-In Fee, for guests arriving after 11pm (as it wakes up the house manager and requires that she gets up to lock up the home/turn off lights, etc)

This is a 3 bedroom home with another Rental room and a live-in host.

in Cozy updated 95 year old Cottage in University City. What guests love about my home is the proximity: everything is a 5min drive away! Restaurants (The Loop!), shops, Washington University, & Forest Park! and the warm, hospitable host. Some guests have commented negatively on the neighborhood, although it is a safe, quiet family street, in the midst of being gentrified, some houses are less nice than others, but its safe.

11x13 Private Bedroom with shared bathroom (shared with other airbnb room). Room is furnished with a queen bed, which easily sleeps two, end tables/lamps and dresser.

Guest Access:

You will have access to the entire property (except for the other bedrooms, as it is a shared house). Hang out on the porch or backyard. Use the kitchen as you wish. Washer/Dryer in basement are open for guest use. There is even the option of parking in the two car garage, although parking on the street is easy too.

Interaction with Guests:

There is a live-in host who is a St. Louis expert! I will provide you with detailed instructions on how to access everything you need in the home upon booking and she will be there to make the home homey and to tell you all about St. Louis happenings, etc.

The Neighborhood:

The home is located in University City, only 5min or less drive to Washington University (North and Main Campus), The Loop (Restaurant Row), and Forest Park.

The home is close to a lot but St. Louis is not really set up for walking. The Summers are hot and humid and the Winter has snow. Car rental is recommended.

Only 15min from the airport!

Getting Around:

A car is recommended although you can definitely rent a bike or take ubers to get around. Walking is also possible, but difficult in the extreme temps of Winter and Summer and not recommended at night. The house is a 2-3min drive to The Loop (restaurant row), 5min to Washington University. It is a 5-8 min ride to Forest Park, which has a zoo, golf courses, museums, etc. Lots to do in the area.

Other Things to Note:

*$10 Late Arrival Check-In Fee to be left in cash, for guests arriving after 11pm (as it wakes up the house manager and requires that she gets up to lock up the home/turn off lights, etc)

-Please no more than 2 people, if you have more guests, we can direct them to the other rental room for a separate booking.

House Rules:

• No smoking

• Not suitable for pets

• No parties or events

• Not safe or suitable for infants (Under 2 years)

• Check-in is anytime after 2PM

About owner/manager

I am originally from Maui, Hi. I currently live in Boulder, CO and love to travel and housesit all over the world. I was brought to St. Louis for a wedding of a dear friend and fell in love with it's history, culture, and sprawling parks.

Decent place - good for the price

  • 3 of 5

The house was clean and easy to find and get into and out of. The bed was comfortable and the house was a good temp even in very cold temperatures. Found the other guests a bit noisy, but that's what happens in an older home. Quiet neighborhood. It is an older home and could use a few updates, but if that doesn't bother you then I'd recommend it.

Clean, quiet and convenient location.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay in University City. Convenient location, close to train to downtown St. Louis, highways, universities and Del Mar Loop. The home was clean and comfortable, and hostess was a delight. I definitely would recommend this place , and consider staying their again.

Excellent experience.

If you need a place to stay in St Louis and are on a budget, look no further. I stayed here for about a week and a half, and very much enjoyed it.

The owner of the house was readily accessible when I needed to contact her, and was very informative with where everything you might possibly need was located, as well as phone numbers for the host, the door code to get in, and the WiFi information.

Alona, the host, was absent for the first few days of my trip. No matter, a very kind womand named Lois welcomed me into the house and gave me the tour, and was very gracious (The owner lives out of state, but everything is managed very well). Alona arrived back from her travels a few days later, and was very kind and welcoming as well.

The house was quiet and cozy, and for the most part everyone did their own thing. I tended to leave mid morning after everyone else had already gotten ready and left, or earlier than everyone else on the weekends, and came back late at night. There was no hassle about this at all (thank you for putting up with my shenanigans, Alona!), and I never felt like I was stepping on someone's toes coming and going as needed.

The room was nicely decorated, and the bed firm but comfortable. The sheets and blankets were very nice (felt like a goose down comforter), and I was never cold at night (even for February!). It was very nice to have a ceiling fan in my room for some background noise to go to sleep. On a side note, the walls between the two guest rooms proved to be pretty thin, but this was never a problem. You could hear conversations next door, but everyone was very courteous about it.

If this is your first time staying in St Louis, this is an excellent spot to be. Very close to the hip area known as "The Delmar Loop" with shopping, entertainment and restaurants, as well as the Central West End, but just far away enough to avoid the traffic congestion of those areas, as well as the constant noise.

Overall, I will definitely stay here again when I visit. Even though I didn't get to see her very much because of our schedule differences, Alona left me a very kind and thoughtful card on the day I checked out. Much more than a simple "Thank You," she was very genuine and it meant a lot to me that she had taken the time and effort just to wish me well on my journey. So if you're looking for a good deal and wanting to stay with good people, this is definitely the place to be!
