Filmed for U.K and American Television
Trullo of Dreams was chosen and filmed for the American television show House Hunters International in 2010 and again in 2013.
The BBC and Nikki Chapman also filmed Escape to the Continent at Trullo of Dreams.
Renovated with care, attention to detail and most of all preserving the hundreds of year of history that this trullo holds.
Stone arches, curious alcoves, traditional materials, local tradesmen and time have revealed a trullo that is very special. Considering the environment, natural material were used and chemicals are not used on the 8,000m2 of land private land here and in the garden you are free to pick from the selection of herbs and fruit from the trees when they are in season.
Relax in the double hammock that hangs between the fruit trees or cook fresh produce on the stone built barbecue.
You can dine under the natural shade of the 500 year old olive tree & sleep the afternoon away on the comfortable double sun loungers.
Trullo dei Sogni (Trullo of Dreams) is an ideal retreat from the stresses of the real world.....welcome..
Just 5 miles from the chic town of Martina Franca and a short drive to the clear tropical award winning beaches of the Ionian coastline.
Situated on a private road and this ensures the tranquil location is not disturbed.
The electric gates lead into a spacious parking area for up to 5 cars and the private land of over 2 acres.
Here you can find a selection of fruit trees including fig, apples, sharon fruit, plums, almonds and pears, all yours to pick from when in season.
On entering the trullo you are immediately surrounded by the 3 original cones which have been preserved beautifully and hold the history of hundreds of years gone by.
This is now the a spacious living and dining area and is dominate by the large, original, open log burn fireplace, next to this is the second of 3 double patio doors.
This is turned into the 3rd bedroom in the summer when 5 or 6 people are staying.
Entering the newer part of the trullo you will find a spacious stone built Puglian kitchen, a pleasure for keen cooks.
Here there is a full size dishwasher and espresso coffee machine with a supply of coffee.
Stroll along the hallway and you will find 2 tastefully decorated romantic bedrooms and 2 fully tiled bathrooms (one of which is en-suit).
Finished beautifully throughout with antique and solid wood furniture the feeling of quality surrounds you.
Undoubtedly this trullo has one of the most spectacular gardens in the area.
Fruit trees are dotted throughout the beautifully maintained grassed area and here you can pick from the selection of herbs like oregano, thyme, basil, rosemary and of course mint for your evening mojito.
Five centuries of history shades you from the warm summer sun, the wonderful olive tree.
Relax on the double sunbeds or sleep the afternoon away in the hammock under the shade.
The total privacy of the property and large swimming pool (10m x 5m) makes this trullo a very special retreat.
Exploring this beautiful area:
There is so much to do and see in this unspoilt part of Italy.
The trullo is just 5 miles from the beautiful, chic, baroque town of Martina Franca.
In the summer months the town is full of activity.
The city is known as the 'citta del festival', the city of festivals.
The most famous being the musical festival, which attracts people from worldwide in the last 2 weeks of July.
Surrounded by pretty hilltop towns with enchanting historic centres and beautiful piazzas I would recommend you visit: Cisternino, Locorotondo, Ostuni (The White City), Monopoli, Pulignano al mare, Conversano.
Matera, Lecce and Gallipoli are a little further away but undoubtedly worth the drive.
Miles of clean, white, award winning, sandy beaches can be found on the Ionian coastline, just 30 minutes from the trullo.
Dining out here is a pleasure. Fresh seafood, locally grown fruit and vegetables and tender meat dishes all at a very reasonable price.
Local Puglian wine is now known all over the world, you can have the pleasure of sampling this at local prices.
If you wish to visit the wine museum in Alberobello and sample the wines I can organise this for.
You could also spend a morning seeing the famous olive oil of Puglian being made or visiting the cheese factory.

Why Susan Gardner chose Martina Franca
After looking at many trulli in the area I immediately fell in love with Trullo of Dreams. Just a short drive to Martina Franca which is beautiful town with a lovely historic centre, great shops, chic cafes and wonderful restaurants. Trullo of Dreams ticked all the boxes which is not easy. Set just off the main country road along a private road which is closed at the end so there are only a few trulli beyond the property therefore you are not disturbed by passing traffic. Electric gates lead to the parking area and the lovely setting. You can see other trulli dotted around however the property is totally private and not overlooked, this is very important. Although I saw many trulli in my search I had not seen one with such a beautiful patio and garden area. The old olive tree on the patio is something quite breathtaking and a lovely area of natural shade. I loved the idea of picking the ripe fruit and using all the herbs for cooking. Trullo of Dreams is very spacious inside and has been renovated beautifully. I purchased many pieces of the lovely antique furniture with the property and have added to these. Immediately I could see this property was a very special place and I am delighted to say anyone who has stayed here has also seen the same beauty that caught my attention, please read the reviews. It has now been filmed twice for House Hunters International (America). Once in 2010 and again in 2013.
What makes this Villa unique
I was delighted that my trullo was chosen from the hundreds in the area to be filmed for the American TV programme House Hunters International and also by the BBC for Escape to the Continent.

Perfect place to relax: Trullo of Dreams
My family of 5 spent almost 3 remarkable weeks in one of the most beautiful, impressive regions of Italy, Puglia.
Our home , the Trulls of Dreams“ was very charming, cosy and well equipped in the outskirts of the town of Martina Franca famous for its trulli and history.
A big big compliment deserves our Scottish/Italian hostess Susan. She is so friendly and helpful and reads wishes from your eyes! She gave us invaluable logistic advice on a health and car problem by activating her "Italian friends network!
And from time to time we found fresh croissants on our breakfast table in the garden which Susan brought early in the morning!
We were surrounded by vineyards, Olive trees , orchards and for a snack we picked fresh figues from our tree. A nice ,clean swimming pool helped to cope with the temperatures of around 30° plus. Situated in between the Adriatic and the Ionic Coast its about 40 minutes for those who want to indulge in the wonderful, long beaches which were not overcrowded. Puglia a treasure from a historic, cultural and touristic view has such a lot to offer all within 1 hour driving.
It goes without saying, those who love wining and dining are not far from paradise!
„Susans" Trullo of Dreams was the perfect place to relax and to chill. At the same time the buzzing live and markets are just a few minutes away!
We and our children loved it so much!
Thank you Susan for everything… You are great!!!!!!
Thank you so much and it was really wonderful having you all stay at Trullo of Dreams for 3 weeks, you are such a lovely family and I am sure I will remain friends.
Trullo of Dreams is a very special trullo, it is loved by everyone who stay there.
Take care until we meet again! x
Lovely stay outside martina franca
Lovely week in martina franca. Beautiful weather, kids loved the pool which is conveniently raised to prevent our two year old chucking herself in to it! Barbecues every night in the huge pizza oven. Well worth visiting the butchers in San Paolo for BBQ supplies as well as cheese and prosciutto. Ideally positioned outside martina franca which is lovely but a bit hectic in the evenings for very young kids, and only 20 mins from alberobello (pretty but v touristy) and locorotondo (stunning, a must visit). Susan was a great host, easy to contact and full of handy tips, and reassuring to have a British host. I'm already missing the hammock and the kids are missing Haggis the cat! Would definitely recommend to anyone.
You were lovely guests and thank you for looking after the trullo so well.
The girls are so sweet and the lovely decoration they made for outside the back door is still there! Hope to see you all again at Trullo of Dreams.
Villa was great - it has everything you need and the pool and garden are lovely
The property was lovely - although a little more remote than we were expecting - but it was peaceful and relaxing. Susan was fantastic - always available and very generous with early morning croissants when she visited.
Thank you it was lovely having you all at Trullo of Dreams and I am glad you had fun exploring this lovely area. It certainly is very peaceful and just 6km (5 minutes) drive to the amazing town of Martina Franca or 3km from San Paolo. I do hope to see you all again in the future and I am glad you enjoyed the croissants!
A delightful Trullo in a lovely rural area
When we were looking for a holiday we stumbled upon Puglia and thought it looked really interesting, the landscape dotted with Trullos, old hill towns and World Heritage Sites. We weren't disappointed.
There are lots of lovely places to visit - some close like Martina Franca, Locorotondo and Alberobello (best icecream ever from a little gelataria overlooking the terraces) - places further afield like Matera and the caves at Castellana were amazing and well worth the visit.
We booked Trullo of Dreams because it looked lovely in all the photos, had good reviews and it suited the size of our party - 5 adults - and it more than met our expectations. It is extemely well equipped, very comfortable, tastefully furnished with a lot of attention to detail. The pool was absolute bliss and we all enjoyed it - deep enough to swim in, same level throughout and great for the non-swimmer in our party who was able to enjoy it without getting out of his depth. The memories of the inflatible unicorn races across the pool will stay forever!
Susan came to clean the pool every few days and also brought us breakfast - warm croissants! She was a brilliant host, warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The fridge/larder was well stocked on our arrival with milk, water, juice, ham, cheese, bread, cake, biscuits, fresh fruit, pasta, tins tomatoes, tea and coffee and wine. We didn't venture out the first night, getting straight into the pool and making a lovely meal with the provisions available. The coffee machine was a big success with what seemed like a never-ending supply of coffee capsules.
There is plenty of outside space with a choice of seating, sunloungers and hammock, in the sun or the shade. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the shade under the enormous olive tree just outside the kitchen area - frequently joined by Haggis the cat.
Our holiday was a mix of relaxing and sightseeing but it was difficult to tear ourselves away from the Trullo some days and always a joy to return to in the evening.
Lovely Trullo in quiet rural setting!
Lovely Trullo in quiet rural setting, just outside Martina Franca with numerous restaurant options to suit all budgets! Plenty of sunshine and shade to be had as you wish. Susan is a very attentive and host. A car is a must for this Trullo, both for getting there and going out for shopping and sightseeing!
Hi Sarah and Sanders,
Lovely to meet you and thank you for being such lovely guests and looking after the trullo so well!
Hope to see you again in the future
Classic Trullo in a typical Puglian rural setting
Everything was as expected and we had a comfortable and peaceful stay. Susan is a perfect owner, kind, unobtrusive but very helpful when needed. The property is well maintained and very clean. It is set by a very quiet side road and backs onto open fields. Every property you see from here is a Trullo but they are long distance and do not intrude on your privacy. Good local visits should include the two fine towns of Martina Franca and Alberobello.
Thanks Jane for your lovely words.
Hope to meet you all again in the future
