Grill some local trout, while relaxing with a roaring fire and looking up at the famous Carolina night skies. Our family, co-workers and friends have enjoyed "Grace's Grotto", our "escape to the mountains" retreat so much that we've found it's just too good not to share.

Had to park at road and walk down to house. The beds were not cleaned from last user. Dirty dishes. Dirty towels piled high in laundry room. Called contact number, he said he was no longer responsible for the house and gave us owners number. She would not answer our phone calls, still have not . Rat feces everywhere. We left and found hotel. Took lots of phone calls to get refund on credit card.
This was a mistake on my part for renting this house. the house was filthy all beds were slept in, dirty dishes in sink and the smell was unbelievable. there was rat feces on the clean sheets in linen closet. Every towel in house was in a basket in laundry room dirty. When I reached out to the number on rental sheet the person was no longer associated with the property. The owner would not respond to me when I called. What a Nightmare we left an went to Brevard an rented a hotel room for 2 nights. Want a refund.
This is a lovely cabin, but there are mice. Which I would imagine the owner knows, as we found mouse traps in one of the cabinets. The mice chewed their way through our cereal boxes, and there were droppings in every drawer. Gross. Also a very musty smell throughout. Unless there is a mold problem, a good cleaning would go a long way.
There were no instructions in the house regarding trash disposal, etc, nor was there much in the way of necessities. We had to go out to buy toilet paper!
I emailed the owner while we were there to find out what to do about trash (the bin under the house was full and the lid broken) and to let her know that the lights had gone off in one bathroom, and never got a reply. We left early and did not even stay the full week. The community is lovely but I would not rent this house again.
Nightmare began at the gate where there was no passes or info about our arrival. Contact person was not helpful especially when we found the house was not clean, beds not changed. Need I say more....
The owner was very responsive when we emailed to share our concerns including garbage in the yard, lights/fans not working, internet outage which occurred because the owner did not pay the bill (she encouraged us to call for repair!) and other issues. She offered a partial refund to help make up for the continuous issues, but since it has been over a month since that offer and no refund nor response to my inquiries, I guess our trouble was not concerning to the owner afterall. In all, all of our rental homes in Connesstee Falls were old, run down and not well cared for. Very disappointing.
I will begin with the positives of our visit. The interior of the cabin was very roomy, adequate space to move around and well maintain in the majority of the rooms. However, if you ventured outside the general grounds were in need of attention. Upon arrival we fond the surrounding grounds scattered with trash and broken bottles, and turned over furniture, laundry baskets and small pieces of building material. Although I was provided with a local contact, my first call to him resulted in a comment" I'm no longer involved in that property". I was surprised when I could not get any TV reception. Now granted, you don't go on vacation to sit and watch TV, however, it is nice to be able to keep in touch with what is going on. I emailed the owner who responded several days later and indicated she was also on vacation, thus the late reply. I was told to contact the cable company as they usually are very prompt to make corrections. When called, I was told the property had no service contract for cable. When I emailed the owner I was told.........."there is no TV just a DVD that hooks up, it was described in the VRBO information as the only service". OK, so why then was I told to contact the cable company instead of telling me this right up front. All in all we made the best of our two weeks, but the VRBO information page should disclose more accurate information. A few light bulbs needed replacing and the lower second floor porch was uninhabitable due to cob webs, dust and dirt. The basement was perfect, with a very modern and clean laundry room with first class equipment. The owner needs to pay attention to her property and make sure a contact person is available should it become necessary. Maybe even preparing an information sheet for arriving guest talking about access to amenities, disposition of garbage, etc.
