About the property

Well equipped barn conversion, sleeps 4/6, two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

'The Milking Parlour' was converted in 2008. It is just 2 miles from the popular harbour town of St Ives, but peacefully located high near the dramatic north Cornwall coast and ideal for exploring the rugged cliffs and country of this beautiful area. The property has slate floors throughout, with underfloor heating powered by geothermal energy from our own boreholes. Also, solar panels make the most of the sunlight to make this a very energy efficient property.

The property has two bedrooms, (one with double bed, en suite wet room and mini kitchen; the second with twin beds,) family bathroom, kitchen/ diner, and large living room with wood burning stove, and a 'hideaway' double bed.

Outside to one side of the property is an enclosed courtyard area, while on the other side there is a garden and large raised patio area with a panoramic view down to the sea - the ideal place to enjoy a barbecue and watch the sun set.

Bookings: Your bookings will be held for 2 weeks provisionally, and confirmed when deposit/ payment is received.

A deposit of £100 (or full amount if less) is required to confirm booking, and the balance to be paid4 weeks before your holiday. If booking 4 weeks or less before holiday date, the full amount is required immediately.

Arrival and Departure: The property will be ready from 3pm on the day of arrival, please leave by 10 am when you depart. Please leave everything clean and tidy. If you don't we may have to charge for extra cleaning.

The whole property has underfloor heating throughout, powered by a ground source heat pump, and is cosy, especially for your feet! The water supply is pure and natural from our own borehole. The spacious living room has comfortable seating for 6 people. Broadband access is unlimited, and a telephone is available. TV is digital with all the available freeview channels. There are video and DVD players. For winter stays a basket of fuel is included for the wood burning stove. Our new kitchen has cream cupboards and solid oak worktops and is fully equipped with ceramic 4 ring hob; double electric fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and much more.

Well equipped, clean and a beautiful setting. An excellent base from which to travel without the bussle of St Ives during half term. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely few days staying at the Milking Parlour

The cottage is in a lovely quiet location, but is just 5 minute drive from St Ives. The property is ideally located for getting out and about and exploring all the key attractions without having to spend ages in a car.

The cottage is full equipped with everything you need which means you don't have to pack the kitchen sink! It was also ideal for our 2 1/2 year old son and the second bedroom had everything you need for little ones including children's bed rails so theres no chance of them falling out of bed whilst away.

We had a great few days in the cottage and would defiantly recommend staying at this property and would also stay again.

Extremely comfortable and well maintained cottage

We had a very enjoyable stay in the Milking Parlour which we found to be very comfortable, well maintained and very peaceful. Everything appeared to be catered for however we did encounter one problem. On our second night we had a tremendous thunderstorm and torrential rain. When we arrived back at the cottage around 9pm there was no electricity and therefore, as the water pump is driven by electricity, no water. This was explained to us in the information provided. However we could not find any candles or torch in the cottage resulting in us only having our phones to provide some small light. Maybe this needs to addressed in the future.

Overall a very relaxing, peaceful stay one which we will certainly consider returning to in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very valid comments - we have added two LED lanterns suitable to use indoors or outside, and two emergency lights which come on if there is a power cut, and can also be removed from the charger and used as torches. Also we have supplied bottled water for drinking. Hopefully this is a rare occurrence - the first power cut to affect guests in 8 years!

Nice and relaxing stay

We really enjoyed the stay in the barn. It has been recently refurbished and it offers plenty of space and comfort for a family. The property is clean and well-maintained. Being situated in a very quiet and picturesque area, it offers best starting points for wonderfull tours in the countryside. We would certainly recommend this property to people who like a relaxing holiday.

The property is just outside St Ives - famous for art galleries such as The Tate and and the Hepworth Museum. With quaint narrow streets, shops, harbour, restaurants and sandy beaches the town is a beautiful vibrant destination. Alternatively, explore the rugged and wild Cornish coast; look out for the varied bird life; watch for marine life - seals, dolphins and basking sharks are frequent visitors to these coastal waters. There are boat trips and watersports in the area, or horse riding, golf, karting, and many other tourist attractions.

Just 5 miles away is the south coast with the pretty villages of Marazion, St Michael's Mount, (which can only be reached by boat, or on foot at low tide), Mousehole, and the busy town of Penzance.
