Wonderful Memories

Date of Stay

June 4, 2015

It seems we just arrived! Where has the week gone??! What a beautiful spot for our multi-generational family vacation. Something for everyone . . . trips to Allenholm Farm, Snowflake Winery, the pool, the Theater Room where we cheered on the women's soccer team to the World Cup Championship . . . and the lake. We rented a pontoon boat three afternoons to cruise, swim and fish. The accommodation was perfect. We leave relaxed knowing we have made wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing!

About Kasia, Michael & Marco

While living abroad (Warsaw, Moscow, London, and Dubai) for the last 25 years, we've always considered Vermont home. Kasia is Ukrainian, Michael hails from Vermont, and our son, Chris, and his dog, Charlie, are best described as global citizens! Marco is our good friend, a successful restauranteur, and our on-the-ground hospitality expert during your stay (he lives five minutes from Contentment House).

Perhaps of interest to you, we also use HomeAway to let our other summer home in the Puglia region of Italy (#1089171).

Kasia, Michael & Marco purchased this house in 1997

Why Kasia, Michael & Marco chose Lake Champlain Islands

The lakefront location and abundance of windows gives every room a view that changes daily. Inside, attention to detail and comfort were part of every design decision. From the gourmet kitchen to the projector theater room to the oversized master bedroom suite with sauna and gym, no expense has been spared. This is a luxury home.

What makes this house unique

Taking in the Green Mountains across Lake Champlain, swimming in the lake, lounging in the pool while cooking out, or late nights in the hot tub make each visit more memorable than the last.

Excellent house and location only one complaint...

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our two families. We used the pool every day, the large lawn made for a great play space and the movie room was great for the kids. It was also a great location; we had dinner one night at the Blue Paddle Bistro which was fantastic and our favorite Lake Champlain spots were just a short boat ride away!

My only complaint was that the trees/shrubs blocked much of the view, especially from the pool deck. It would have been nice to enjoy more of the view over the lake and out towards Sand Bar State Park. I would suggest cutting down the tall shrubs that line the pool fence.

We'd definitely rent this house again!

Awesome spot for a relaxing gathering.

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location and charm of this rental! The house is huge, with plenty of space and privacy for our large group. The bedrooms are surprising private, quite and separated from the common areas. There is even a kids wing. We loved cooking on the commercial grade stove and the large dining table was perfect, complete with an awesome view of the lake. The views in general are wonderful and relaxing. Awesome deck for eating outside and a large pool for the kids to enjoy. Perfect water access - fantastic swimming, boating and relaxing with the view.

As for location, we enjoyed visiting Shelburne Farms, Ben & Jerry's Waterbury Factory, Burlington VT, and the local restaurants and farm stands. Stock up on your maple syrup. The house is also convenient to Stowe and the Trapp Family Lodge. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Marco and Mike for making this trip great.

We'll Be Back!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Mike and Kasia,

We’d be delighted to give you some feedback! As you know, this was our second year in a row at Contentment House and we’re already trying to figure out when we can come up again next summer!

Here are some things off the top of the head we think your potential guests should know:

- The location of your house is simply perfect. The views across the lake are magical. We enjoyed sitting outside with coffee by the pool in the morning and again at night watching the sunset (and then again after the kids went to bed in the hot tub!). The new grill on the deck did not go unnoticed. (Suggestion: Is it possible to make the rotisserie part of the grill available for your guests?)

- You were right...anyone can catch fish off the dock. All four of us managed to catch our supper the afternoon we went out as complete novices! Those are memories our kids will never forget! (Suggestion: It would be great if you had some basic fishing gear lying around for folks to use.)

- Your kitchen makes cooking quick or fancy meals a fun and family experience. Is there a kitchen gadget you guys don’t have?

- The theater room is great place for family evenings. We watched movies and our kids could not stop playing video games on the huge screen.

- Going into Burlington to shop or eat is a great idea and very close. Thanks for the recommendation to try the Hen of the Woods. It was amazing!

- Shelburne Farms and the neighboring Shelburne Museum is also somewhere we could go every year (we have so far!).

- Marco is a super guy and helped us with any issues or questions we had.

Kimiko and I highly recommend your property! See you in 2016, and thanks for sharing your home.
