Vistas of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, The Santa Fe Opera, the stars. Quiet that rings in your ears. Solitude that envelopes you with peace. Enchantment. You have arrived at Casa Vista de Cochiti at Pueblo Encantado.

Located just 15 minutes north of the Santa Fe Plaza is this 2 bedroom 2 bath, just remodeled and furnished single family home located in the Tesuque foothills. Bright, airy, open, with high ceilings, Casa Vista de Cochiti offers luxurious and, modern accommodations and furnishings with colors and design inspired by the palette of Georgia O'Keefe. Kivas are located in the living room, master bedroom and outdoor dining patio.

Pueblo Encantado is located across from the Four Seasons Rancho Encantado. (Note: There are no resort privileges.) Casa Vista de Cochiti is a detached single family home, nestled into a hill top ridge, offering 180 degree views, complete privacy and solitude.

Living room has 13 foot beam ceiling with glass doors that open onto the patio and ceiling height windows offering vistas of the mountains, cozy banco by the kiva, television and desk for contemplating the fire and mountain vistas. Santa Fe style brick floors throughout living and dining room are covered with oriental and contemporary area rugs.

Master suite has king bed and desk, wall-to-wall Berber carpeting, kiva, 13 foot beam ceiling and floor-to-ceiling glass windows and door to private patio. New master bath has walk-in closet and very large shower - perfect for a couple!

Ensuite guest room has queen bed and chaise lounge for guests to contemplate the beautiful views of the pinion hills and horizon through the large windows! Berber carpet adds to the serenity and quiet. New guest bath has large shower, also perfect for two.

New kitchen is fully equipped with Bosch dishwasher, Kitchen Aid stove, side-by-side refrigerator, IKEA furnishings and includes Nespresso espresso machine. View from the sink is spectacular to the east and Sangre de Cristo mountains.

Other amenities include new washer and dryer. Forced air air conditioning and heat.

The large wrap around brick patio offers 180 degree views, yet feels protected. A retractable awning over the living room glass wall expands your outdoor living space. The patio dining table, with umbrella, offers spectacular views to the east to pinion ridges and the Sangro de Cristo mountains. The kiva and stucco banco (which absorbs the heat of the sun during the day) means evening dining is cozy and comfortable, with firelight and twinkling stars overhead. Speaking of stars, four reclining high back chairs are perfect for reclining to ponder the stars or for reflecting upon the vista during morning coffee. There are padded chaise lounges for some sunning or napping under the awning.

Pueblo Encantado condominiums are scattered throughout 92 acres and sited so as to create a feeling privacy. Hiking through out Pueblo Encantado, as well as dedicated easement through Los Caminitos, across the highway. Our stand alone unit, nestled into a hill top ridge, is especially private and secluded.

In the summer, the outdoor Pueblo Encantado pool is sun filled with views of the mountains and aspen tree landscape around the deck. Also, don't miss the short hike to the top of the ridge behind our home for spectacular views to the Sandias, Jemez mountains, Los Alamos and even Colorado.

Be enchanted. Be relaxed. Be renewed. Breathe. Come to Casa Vista de Cochiti.

About Peter

Finance professional. Born Minnesota. Grew up Southern California. UC Santa Barbara undergraduate. Years in Vail in 1970's in luxury resort hotel business. MBA at Columbia and years on Wall Street in 80's. Back to San Francisco Bay area for past 25 years. Love Opera. Have been coming to Santa Fe Opera for decades.

Peter purchased this house in 2015

Why Peter chose Santa Fe

Love Santa Fe and Santa Fe Opera. A bucket list item for me has been to go to the same opera many times to absorb the voices, music and magic. I am living that dream now. Life is good.

Love the vistas and quiet of this second home in Tesuque. I fell in love with Casa Vista de Cochiti at the moment I walked through the portal into the patio. I was in the luxury, resort hotel business for many years and have furnished our home away home to these standards!

I want the world to experience the enchantment of Pueblo Encantado and am thrilled you are considering our corner of the world. Stop. Breathe. Look around. Relax. Enjoy.

What makes this house unique

Isolation. Privacy. Silence. Vast sky. Dark, star studded nights.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed our beloved Casa Vista de Cochiti. We are delighted to share this special corner of the world and always look forward to the renewed wonderment every time we walk onto the patio and sit with the first cup of morning coffee and tea. TVM is the BEST. As you discovered, this funky beloved locals place has great food, especially breakfast burrito - Christmas style. We think it is cool that one can pick up The New York Times, International Financial Times as well as local Santa Fe New Mexican. Truly represents the unique world of Tesuque. You have been bewitched by the The Land of Enchantment. We are as well.

Perfect escape

  • 5 of 5

It would be easy to use up all the available superlative adjectives to describe Peter's place. From the moment Peter first communicated with us all the arrangements went smoothly. The location is wonderful. The house is incredibly well-equipped and comfortable. The aesthetic in furnishings and overall design is top notch and absolutely to my taste. It was an absolute treat to stay there. I only wish we could have done all the things Peter suggested in his welcoming email--but we we glad to follow his advice where we could!

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this home, tucked away in a secluded, quiet and relaxing area of Santa Fe. The views are gorgeous and the home is super comfy!

The owner has furnished this home so beautifully.

We stopped at Whole Foods when we arrived in town and picked up a few snacks, bottle water, wine, and we were set for a great stay.

The drive into town was literally only 15 minutes and we enjoyed many great restaurants and shopping in and around the plaza, but definitely enjoyed sitting on the back porch with our friends, taking in the peaceful outdoor area of this home. We would definitely stay here again!

Gorgeous views and excellent hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Secluded yet convenient to town. Peter was an excellent host and communicated clearly. His extra touches made for a comfortable stay. The view on the ridge at sunset/rise (although I never saw the sun rise) was spectacular. Birds galore in the trees around the house. Lovely visit over all and I will return.

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

This home reflects in every way the professional hospitality career of the homeowner. There is nothing he hasn't thought of. When he said bring only your clothes and toothbrush, he meant it. Everything is provided, and everything is first class. There are too many little touches to name, but each delightful surprise we discovered made us feel like very special guests indeed.

We stayed four nights in early December and enjoyed the fireplace each night. The kitchen is a dream, and the linens, towels and bathrobes are right out of a four-star hotel. Every room is tastefully decorated without the personal clutter one sometimes finds elsewhere. The numerous windows and skylights welcome the New Mexican sun and vistas. There are plenty of books, a Smart TV, and cozy throws on every chair and lounger.

The host provided the best recommendations for the area's top restaurants and activities, but this is the sort of home you may not want to leave at all. If you're looking for peace and quiet, blue-blue skies, remarkable star-gazing, and the best rest of your life, this is the home for you. New Mexico is the land of enchantment, and there is something sacred about this corner of the world and this adobe retreat.

Beautiful stay near Santa Fe.

  • 5 of 5

This small house makes a fantastic base for discovering the area around Santa Fe. The house is peaceful with wonderful views and is very tastefully decorated and very well equipped. The kitchen contains everything you need and the knives are sharp and the chopping boards clean. There are two nice double bedrooms with good bathrooms. The living room is a lovely space with a good cable TV. The patio area is lovely, with quality loungers, dining table and gas barbecue. Hummingbirds abound and eating breakfast in the sun admiring the views is a great treat. Peter, the owner, was simply the best host I have ever encountered and I have rented many many homes! He went out of his way to provide a lot of information to ensure we had the best visit possible. The house is situated not far from the opera ground close to the Four Seasons Resort, which was nice for evenings out. Highly recommended.

Nearby attractions include cliff dwellings, Native American Pueblos, Taos, Los Alamos, winter skiing at Santa Fe Ski Basin and at Taos. The sky, the clouds, the clarity of air.
