|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Near the quiet southern shore of the sublimely beautiful Upper Saranac Lake lies this enchanting and peaceful retreat for those who appreciate charm and serenity.
A unique Adirondack estate...this property rents for $1995/week, 1 week minimum, Saturday to Saturday, during the Summer months of June till Labor Day. Maximum occupancy is strictly limited to 4 during this time.
The home was built in 1930 with integrity and graceful, creative character and offers 3 bedrooms/3 baths. It is approximately 1800 sq feet on 5.3 park like acres. The “un-fitted’ kitchen has been described by many as award worthy with remarkable attention to detail. "Fairytale like" it has been commonly described as and it has repeatedly been said, "The pictures do it no justice"
All linens are provided as a courtesy, but please do bring your personal BEACH towels.
There is a fire pit for camp fires, and an expansive lawn for games. The lovely deeded, semi-private shared beach (Upper Saranac Lake) is a 5 -7 minute park-like stroll from the home through a quiet, sparsely populated neighborhood. As a back lot location, it offers a "safety buffer zone" with certain peace of mind for those with younger Children or Grandchildren. With a grass lawn, the beach is sandy with a gentle, gradual drop-off. Again, very safe for young children. We have one Old Towne Canoe and 2 Kayaks stored at the home for your use and enjoyment. No motor boats are permitted.
The High Peaks Wilderness area, directly across our drive, offers you hiking, biking on endless trails and canoe access to the Stoney Creek Ponds and the Racquette River. The popular Ampersand Trail is minutes up the road, as well as one of our favorites, the Deer Pond trail, a gentle hike for children. Golfers will enJOY the Saranac Inn Golf Club, ten minutes up the road founded at the turn of the century and designed by Scottish pro and architect, Seymour Dunn; this 18 hole course was designed using the natural terrain to provide a great golfing experience with lovely mountain views. Adventurers can traverse 30 miles of waterways that connect the lakes Oseetah, Kiwassa, Lower and Middle Saranac Lakes. Travel through the lock system which raises and lowers your watercraft to the level of the connecting lake. Take note- there is no lock access to the Upper Saranac Lake thereby granting you an extremely quieter lake experience especially at the southern end....it is pristine. At the Paul Smiths Visitors Center, you can explore gentle hiking trails and learn about the Adirondack region. And be sure to check out the whole wild world of the Adirondacks in Tupper Lake at our Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks. (Also known as "The Wild Center") On Sunday, you can ride your bikes or walk to the Chapel bound boat which takes you to non-denominational services at Chapel Island, a short ride away.
Secluded, yet very convenient to all amenities...23 minutes to our Olympic village of Lake Placid, 11 minutes to Saranac Lake, 8 minutes to Tupper Lake, 2.5 hours to Montreal. The Adirondack Airport is a 20 minute drive up rte 30. Please call/email me to inquire ... Joanne 518-637-1620

The shore of UPPER SARANAC LAKE is bordered by State land...14 mi. SW from the town of Saranac Lake
I live in Aspen, Colorado.... I warmly welcome you to create your fond memories in the 'Healing Woods' this year...
Joanne purchased this estate in 2000
It was geographically close to my parents who were in their chapter of needing my care and provided access to Whiteface Mountain for downhill skiing for my children.
Private, quiet location, yet convenient to amenities...located very near (a 5 minute walk) to the southern shoreline of one of the most beautiful Adirondack Lakes, the Upper Saranac Lake. There is NOT a lot of public traffic on this lake because it is not connected via the lock system, thus a more tranquil experience. The shared beach is never crowded, always lovely with a gradual clean and sandy slope. Listening to the first signs of warmth-the spring peepers, the frogs mating in the pond, the beautiful song of the Wood Thrush in Summer, the wild blueberries in August, the calm, clean tranquility of the lakes, a kayak cruise at dusk with musical calls of the loons...you can find nature's gentle music and quiet amidst all the recreational options here at Indian Carry...
Spent 3 wonderful days at Joanne's home over the winter holidays. Very comfortable and beautiful spot. Easy to find and was very complete with all the necessary amenities. Enjoyed the fireplace and warm cozy kitchen and sitting areas. Great spot for a family getaway, exactly what we were looking for. Would definitely come back again.
My sisters and I met at Joanne's cottage for a family reunion and memorial service in Tupperlake. The pictures drew me to the house but being there was something much more then one can even imagine in the pictures! The feeling of the home is of peace and tranquility. We felt like kids in a candy store looking at all the enchanting knickknacks and furniture Joanne lovingly selected. There was not one thing missing that we did not find in the kitchen during meal preparations which was awesome since we invited our cousins and their families over for a beautiful dinner together ! Thank you Joanne for the wonderful gift of sharing your home!
There's not much to say that hasn't already been said about this property. It's beautiful. It's impeccably clean. Everything that you could possibly need is provided. Communication with the owner is easy and quick. The home is private and quiet. If you've found this property and it's available for your dates, then don't hesitate or look any longer.....just go ahead and book. We cooked in the beautiful, well appointed kitchen. Dined and relaxed on the screened porch. Sat by the firepit at night. The king sized bed was a great feature and not one that you usually find in a rental property. We used the canoe and they kayaks. Swam at the beach. Hiked the Tupper Lake Triad and 2 of the Saranac Six, as well as Panther. It was a perfect vacation. This is really a gorgeous home that reminded me of a story-book cottage. I would highly recommend a stay here (in case you couldn't tell already)!
A picturesque home on a secluded park like road close to nearby towns of Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and Lake Placid. As a first timer when it comes to renting a home for a vacation, I will compare all future planned trips to this one, and they (future vacations) will have a lot to live up to. Joanne was wonderfully pleasant and thorough, from the first telephone call in which she described the property, to the emailed welcoming packet, to the day we arrived and throughout our stay. Her insight about things to do, places to see and eat at, was just what my family and I needed as first time visitors to the Adirondacks. It was funny, that after the initial excitement following our arrival and getting settled into this beautiful home, it begin to feel just like that...HOME. I believe that a vacation that instills that sense of home can provide added joy and memories, that a vacation, in say a hotel, may never give to you and yours.
As for the home itself, loved making use of the afternoon patio, catching some sun and listening to music. The front and back yards (lovely lawn) were used for tossing the football and kicking the soccer ball. The screened-in porch was used for a bbq dinners and evening board games. Kitchen was the heart of the house. Every morning was spent sipping coffee and enjoying a meal, watching the sunrise, the hummingbirds that frequented the lovely garden flowers and planning the days activities.
Would recommended and would love to stay again someday.
We loved the pictures but were absolutely enchanted with ths home!
It was a perfect getaway! My family andI loved all the different rooms, the attention to the details and all the high end amenities. We were surrounded by so many beautiful treasures that made the home feel likea home away from home. It was magical!!
I fell in love with the pictures, but when we arrived I was like a kid getting a new toy. I love to cook and AGA stove was such a treat. The pictures do not capture the true beauty and spirit of this wonderful house.
The owner is wonder and has everything you need in her home all you need is yourclothes. The ower is terrific and makes sure you settle in just fine. I must also mention the absolutely wonderful neighbors that she has, they make sure you are settled in as well.
The home is very well kept and nice and clean. My son and I had such a great experience and he continues to ask if we can go back. We went during the winter and made great use of the fire place after taking walks. This place is perfect anytime of the year. It really is a must do.
Away from the madding crowds...
