Why Rob or Alison Higgins chose Newquay & St Austell area

My wife Alison and I rented this property in 2012 with our teenage son and two of his friends and had a wonderful relaxing holiday here.

We had been looking for a holiday home for several years and could not quite frind the right property that ticked all the boxes we wanted. Great location and views, plenty to do from surfing, sailing, golfing, walking or just relaxing. We are close enough to Newquay to benefit from the facilities when we require them but positioned in the quiet part of Newquay with our own car parking space. Everything is in walking distance and we can enjoy the great restaurants and beaches etc throughout Cornwall using Newquay as a base. We use this property ourselves and the standard of furnishings and fixtures reflect the standards we would expect to see in a property such as Pentowan. We have relaxing weekends with friends enjoying the wonderful beaches and sea, great restaurants and fantastic views and walks. There is plenty to keep the children active from surfing to exploring the beaches.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, car parking and unsurpassed views. Great surfing beaches or safe 'bucket and spade beaches' and Golf course within walking distance. Great restaurants in the region.or just look out of the windows at the views. Explore Cornwall - Eden Project, fantastic scenery traditional Cornish fishing towns and wonderful bays and beaches. Plenty of water sports,Golf or relaxing walks and nature trails.

What a view !

There are many occasions in life when things don't quite live up to expectations.

We had high expectations of this apartment due to the photographs we saw online when we booked. I am happy to say this property exceeded ALL our expectations and is quite simply fabulous.

On arrival we were met by Bill who was our welcoming committee and key holder. He took us up to the penthouse and spent time explaining how everything worked and gave us useful information about the area, a nicer guy you couldn't wish to meet.

On walking into the apartment the first thing that hits you is the view and wow what a view it is. If you remember one thing make sure it is your binoculars, I can asure you the TV is not needed.

The apartment is really funky and the decor very modern, it was right up our street and instantly made us feel at home. The really clever part is the floor to ceiling windows which not only make the apartment really light and airy but obviously gives you access to the stunning views without getting up off the sofa.

We took our two children, Josh (6) and Freddie (18 mths) and they could not have been happier. It is very child friendly with an Xbox and TV to keep them entertained.

I really can't think of a negative about this place and we have already booked to go back and we can't wait!!

Some decrative TLC required but stunning views and great location

The property gives 5 star views but we were slightly disappointed with the interiors which appeared a bit 'tired', could do with a fresh decor and some TLC. The sofas were very worn and not comfortable to sit on and there were stains on two cream chairs and carpets in both bedrooms. Unfortunately the quality of cleaning was not great, work tops and oven/hob very smeared, white doors had finger prints on that were very sticky to the touch.

This spoils what is a lovely penthouse apartment with stunning views and great location.

However we did enjoy our stay, the views and easy local access to bays, harbour and Newquay town. Lovely walks nearby too.

Owner's Response: Hi we always value any comments - I am afraid that stains and other marks were caused by a recent set of guests who also decided to "sleep" on the sofa and due to bookings there was not time to change the sofas etc but the Penthouse will be redocorated and the repairs and improvements made. Our concierge service have also been advised about the sticky marks. I am glad you enjoyed the conveneient location, secure parking and stunning views from the apartment. Rob &Alison

Stunning

Stunning apartment - views from every room didn't disappoint. Apartment is bright, airy & very clean. Excellent location - about 5 minute walk into harbour and main town. Easy access to nearby beaches. Loved our stay - already looking forward to next year's visit.

A fantastic location. If you're staying in Newquay, no need to look anywhere else

Pentowan Penthouse lives up to its name. You really get the wow factor when you walk in. It is worth every penny just for the views alone. But on top of that the apartment is very spacious, well furnished and nicely decorated. It has an ideal layout with the kitchen, dining and living rooms areas nicely separated away from the bedrooms. So if you are a family, everyone can find their space. A particular wow feature of the apartment are the 2 feature Velux windows which transform into balconies....a great way to watch the sun setting. Even though we booked late, I spent a long time deliberating over places all around Cornwall but I'm absolutely certain we made the right choice. Once at the apartment, everything is a short walk away including Fistral Beach, the headland, the town centre and the other beaches. A big Sainsburys is also an easy walk so unless you are leaving Newquay you can leave your car in the gated car park with no worries about parking. We spent a lot of time on Towan Beach next to the harbour (great views from the apartment) where we hired wetsuits and bodyboards. My 13 and 11 year old loved it. Although a little bit more expensive than say a lodge on a holiday park, it is absolutely worth it. We will be back and won't be considering anywhere else. To quote my kids :"What's the point!" Thank to Rob and Alison for offering such a lovely apartment.

Frantastc home from home.

The accommodation was very good, fantastic views of the beaches and harbour. Clean and tidy, very peaceful during the evening. Beach and town centre within walking distance, local restaurants and shops very good. Found that the people were very helpful during our stay, we would recommend this apartment to people thinking of using it. We will be staying again in the future.
