Sherri & Paul Johnson purchased this house in 2009
We have enjoyed living in the East Campus Neighborhood for over 19 years. We are proud of the neighborhood and actively work to preserve the area’s quiet, friendly & quality environment.
Over the years we watched the house that would eventually become the Johnson Guest House deteriorate. When it became available, we saw the hidden possibilities and took the initiative to restore the house from an eyesore to a neighborhood treasure.
Lincoln is known as a city with a friendly small-town feel. Home to Nebraska’s State government, internationally recognized universities, top-ranked college sports teams and a vibrant business community, Lincoln is clean, safe & welcoming to visitors.
We hope that you will find our Guest House, neighborhood and city welcoming to you.
Beautiful property and so great for our grandkids. We had plenty of room and the kids loved the backyard to play in not to mention walking just down the street to the UNL dairy store for ice cream! The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed for a graduation gathering. Everyone kept saying that it was the perfect place for us to be as a family. Don't hesitate to book this house, the owners are lovely people and so accommodating! Thank you so much Sherri and Paul!!
We were in town to bring our daughter to UNL and this house was perfect. Not knowing the area that well I was a little concerned that being at the East Campus would put us far away from everything. I was wrong! It was a short drive to the dorms and sightseeing at the Haymarket District. Having a house made it so much easier when we were moving not having to go up and down at a hotel. As far as the owners, Paul and Sherri, they were amazing, truly nice people. Very welcoming and made sure everything was OK with our stay. The cookies upon arrival were great however my favorite thing was reviewing the before pictures of this amazing house. You would not believe it was the same house! We look forward to staying there on all of our trips to visit our daughter.
We were in town for a family reunion and this home proved to be just that - home. The owners were so welcoming. It was a great central location in Lincoln. Everything was clean and neat. We especially enjoyed the backyard and patio where we ate brunch each day. The house had everything we needed. We were even able to load up some of the lawn chairs to take to watch fireworks.
My family needed a place to stay on short notice in difficult circumstances. I talked to the owner the evening of one day and the morning of the next day, we completed the arrangements and we met at the house, had a tour and were on our way. Due to our circumstances, we weren't sure how long we would need the property. The owner was flexible, made sure we had what we needed and was very respectful of our need for privacy.
We have stayed in other vrbo properties in multiple states. This property was the most thoughtfully stocked of any we have stayed in so far. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. We had plenty of room to be together and the library provided a quiet place, in addition to the bedrooms, if you needed some alone time. The weather turned unexpectedly cold while we were there and we really enjoyed tea or hot chocolate around the fireplace at night.
I enjoyed taking my grown children and my husband to Valentino's for pizza and the UNL Dairy Store for ice cream, two places I enjoyed as I was growing up...both within walking distance. We would recommend this property as it provides a great base from which to enjoy Lincoln and the surrounding area.
We stayed here for the USA Rollersports Nationals and all I can say is WOW!! First of all, my thanks to the owner for her patience in helping us find the house when our GPS took us awry; she even offered to personally come find us. My daughter and I were met at the home by the homeowner and her wonderful smile and she gave us the tour of the home, explaining where everything was, how to reach her in case we needed anything, etc. along with some wonderful homemade cookies. This home was beautiful, immaculately clean, well-supplied, and most important a comfortable place we enjoyed coming "home" to each evening. The website for this home doesn't even come close to doing it justice. This home is centrally located to the practice rinks, downtown, restaurants, grocery stores, the University of Nebraska, the Dairy Mart (which we happened upon twice and is a must for visitors), and so much more. It is also on a main bus route for travelers without a vehicle. We have been coming to Lincoln every other year for the roller skating nationals and have always stayed at an extended stay hotel; however, why spend $1,800 for a small two-bedroom hotel room, when you can stay in a wonderful home like this for less? Although this was the last year at the Pershing, we are hoping now, more that ever, that the Nationals continue to be bi-annually in Lincoln just so we can enjoy this home again and again. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful guesthouse with us; we couldn't have been happier and you made this house feel like our home while we were there. Many thanks!
The friendly, accommodating hosts will do everything to make your stay exceed your expectations. One example, we stay in Lincoln to watch our granddaughter play softball they saved all the newspaper articles for us. Then even took the time to mail to us the ones published after we returned home.
The house is convenient to all University facilities and for quilters out there it is walking to the quilt museum. Two restaurants with in walking distance are Valentino's (pizza/Italian) and the Dairy Store (deli/ice cream).
The house is well furnished, the kitchen is fully furnished with everything you could possibly need (even Tupperware!). It was a home-away-from-home for me. I loved having so many charming bedrooms to choose from! This would be a nice house for both smaller and larger groups because there are multiple places for people to mingle or to sneak away for a little time alone.
We are looking forward to staying again and again and again.
