We had to replace lots of bulbs and had no one to discuss our concerns with. No WiFi as advertised.

  • 1 of 5

It’s REALLY difficult to find. And nobody to speak to when we couldn’t locate property. Things advertised were incorrect. No garden or park area. Washing machine and dish washer didn’t work. Grill was like cooking bacon over a candle. Approximately seven light bulbs gone we replaced. Nobody to contact about this. The handbook directs you to a very expensive local spa (but three minutes further on is a Tesco!) owners are in arrangement for commission with the spa. Tiny seating area is north facing so no sun after 3pm. Roaming cattle and lots of dangerous equipment around (it’s not safe to allow your children to roam here). They tell you to keep the noise down but fail to tell you to prepare for the noise of tractors and deliveries and distressed animals all hours. Our six year old laid on the bed and three wooden slats broke (we replaced as we were worried) but in hindsight it should have been sturdy enough for a child to lay on. Three of us suffered with ear ache upon our return which we sssimr was the hygiene of the hot tub. We left s cushion on a chair on the garden (after completely blitzing the place tidying up) and they deducted £80 of our deposit for this. There was a dog there that kept coming into our barn and someone told us it was the owners and they were away in Jamaica.

So much potential but worth the stay

  • 3 of 5

So looking forward to this stay and it has much to offer, entrance to farm could do with better signage but once found it is easy to remember.

First impression upon arrival is mmmm not sure but once you enter it improves and you will see the potential!!!!

First thing that I found was the lack of attention to cleaning, front room had dust patches around tv stand and dog smell on sofa.

Banaster is loose so be aware.

Main dinning area

could do with place mats but is a good area to sit around and enjoy a few beers or glasses of wine. Door to kitchen would not fit frame.

Kitchen/ wet room

Wet room had strong smell from floor drain which could be due to cleaners pouring dirty water down drain but a very good shower.

Cooker was spotless

Hot water was endless

Few kitchen utensils missing that would make cooking easier

Fridge had to be replaced due to fault and this was done immediately and a big thanks for being so prompt.

Main bedroom

had loads of cobwebs which could easily reached, pull out bed had used sheet still on it ( very of putting for wife ) shower small but lovely to use.

Watch out for low headroom

All other bedrooms were fine but yet again lack of attention to cleaning was the let down, front bedroom window does not shut properly which means you can not block out noise from main house when they held a party.

Upstairs bathroom fine

Outside hot tub is a great way to relax and was well used by all of us, water felt slimy once or twice and could find no chemicals in filter system and back rests could do with a jet wash to clean the grim of them.

Can’t beat it though

Please don’t let these comments put you off it really is a great place to stay and nothing beats waking up on a working farm.

Granddaughter loved the animals and little walks down the lane, the owner Anita is such a lovely lady and nothing is too much trouble, very approachable which is a pleasure who took the time to stop and chat when around.

To make this a great place to stay the cleaners need to up there game and spend a little more time on the basics.

Would stay again if cleaners improved and hope Anita can get the minor issues sorted

Lovely Rural Retreat Close to the City

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay here for a long weekend visiting our daughter who is a first year Uni student studying in Sheffield. Very comfortable, well equipped and clean throughout. A few minutes drive in one direction brings you in to the city whilst going in the opposite direction gets you on to the Moors just as quickly. Many thanks!

Beautiful, peaceful stunning

  • 5 of 5

The house was stunning. Very convenient and although it was in the middle of nowhere and so peaceful and quiet it was also close enough to pop into the city for the Christmas market. Absolutely perfect for our special weekend with 9 people. Thank you so much.

Originally part of the Duke of Norfolk estate’ the barn is situated in the small hamlet of Hollow Meadows, just 4 miles from Ladybower Reservoir in the lovely Peak District National Park and the famous Snake Pass, yet only 15mins from Sheffield City Centre. A great location for easy accesss to all areas including Ponds Forge Leisure Centre. But if you want to relax you can snuggle on the sofa and watch a film. Sit at the table and eat a great meal or relax in the hot tub in the open air.

Nearly 700 lime trees line the Rivelin valley, making it the second longest lime tree avenue in Britain. Hollow Meadows holds a scattering of smallholdings, farms and dwellings and is ideal for exploring many bridleways and footpaths. Nearby are the impressive dam at Ladybower, used by the 'Dambuster' squadron to practise for their raid on the Ruhr Dams in 1945, and Hathersage, believed to have inspired Charlotte Bronte to write Jane Eyre. Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, and Sheffield, with its attractions and exciting nightlife, are only a short drive away.

Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose are able to deliver grocery shopping direct to the properties.
