This beautifully converted property has been a holiday cottage with Sykes cottages for the past 6 years. Set in the heart of the copuntryside with beautiful walks on its doorstep, is ideally situated as only 10 minutes from SHEFFIELD city centre and boasts many outstanding features including wooden floors, exposed beams and stonework.

Thank you Anita and John. The barn was absolutely wonderful and everything we could have hoped for. Very compfy, very spacious & in the most beautiful setting. John was extremely accommodating & friendly. Dogs also added to the charm! X

Well equipped lovely house

Good sized well equipped holiday house with some great personal touches.

Pity about the mud around the children's swings as they could have been a real bonus with half our party.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Yes I agree it's a shame we have had so much rain as the swings are in the park area with grass underfoot like a normal garden. But as there is so much clay everywhere is waterlogged. Hope you had s good journey home and thank you for leaving the property clean and tidy . Anita

Comfortable and well equipped

We stayed 4 nights in the February half term with 4 adults and 2 children and had a fantastic time. The kitchen is considerably better equipped with the basics than most other holiday properties, and with generous arrival gifts. We had a fair bit of snow while we were there and the loan of sledges was great for the kids. The owner was great at answering my questions before arrival and assisted when we asked for help. We were visiting relatives who live in Sheffield and the property is so good and well located we are already planning our return visit!

New Year 2016/2017

Just back from New Year week at Oeak view. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Location is perfect - many great places to see from Lady Bower reservoir on the doorstep to Castleton, Bakewell and Hathersage all Close by.

The cottage itself was the perfect size to accommodate us - we were 2 families of 4 adults and 5 children. Very inviting and cosy. Very well equipped kitchen with all that you need.

Plenty of bathroom / shower space too plus loads of towels and bedding and cushions which was all most welcome!

The hot tub was a real bonus and the kids especially loved it. It was even on warm and ready to use as we arrived.

It's a real bonus that Tesco deliver home shops and we had internet ordered before we set off and the groceries arrived an hour after we arrived. Parking is good too.

Anna and her family are great - not imposing (as we've experienced before) - but lovely on arrival and always happy to help out with our random questions!!

Genuinely no negatives - you're in the Peak District so wi-fi comes and goes but we knew that and it adjoins a working farm so you can hear the cows mooing - but that all adds to the charm.

Even a Wii for the kids along with working Sky box and DVD player

Would definitely recommend - very good value

Lovely country cottage

The property was gorgeous, a proper country cottage. It was clean and supplied everything we needed for our stay. We were abit dissapointed that the hot tub wasnt ready for use when we arrived the owners didnt let us know prior to our visit. Also the outside lighting is poor we struggled with the bbq due to this. Also the bbq had seen better days. All in all it was a lovely weekend and we would recommend.

Originally part of the Duke of Norfolk estate’ the barn is situated in the small hamlet of Hollow Meadows, just 4 miles from Ladybower Reservoir in the lovely Peak District National Park and the famous Snake Pass, yet only 15mins from Sheffield City Centre. A great location for easy accesss to all areas including Ponds Forge Leisure Centre. But if you want to relax you can snuggle on the sofa and watch a film. Sit at the table and eat a great meal or relax in the hot tub in the open air.

Nearly 700 lime trees line the Rivelin valley, making it the second longest lime tree avenue in Britain. Hollow Meadows holds a scattering of smallholdings, farms and dwellings and is ideal for exploring many bridleways and footpaths. Nearby are the impressive dam at Ladybower, used by the 'Dambuster' squadron to practise for their raid on the Ruhr Dams in 1945, and Hathersage, believed to have inspired Charlotte Bronte to write Jane Eyre. Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, and Sheffield, with its attractions and exciting nightlife, are only a short drive away.
