Cowboy's Cove Stay

  • 4 of 5

A group of us were attending a wedding at the TihsreeD Lodge, so a fantastic location just up the road. Because we were involved with the wedding, we really only slept there. I would definitely recommend this house if you'll be attending an event there and don't want to stay in Woodland Park.

Great place to stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

I just can't say enough about this place. Fred the owner is great, very helpful and accommodating. Whether you're a couple looking for some alone time or a whole big family this place works. It has a nice spacious floor plan, it's clean & well taken care of, neutral colors, has a great kitchen, laundry room and big bathrooms. It's a very relaxing, quiet, peaceful place to stay with beautiful surroundings where you get to see all kinds of different wildlife. It's located close enough to go visit and do so many different things!! There's something for everyone. It's a short distance from Florissant Fossil Beds, hiking, picnicking, tubing, Cripple Creek where you can gamble, get ice cream, eat at one of several different places, go to one of many different museums, take a train ride, browse the local shops or go on a mine tour. A little further away is Manitou Springs, Santa's Work Shop, Seven Falls, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Will Rogers Shrine, Cave Of The Winds, Garden Of The Gods, Pikes Peak and so many more places you can go, too many for me to list. Just really a great place to stay because it's located in a quiet, peaceful, beautiful mountain setting where you get to enjoy your location and the beautiful surrounding plus you can get in the car, take a drive and go do so many different things. You get the best of it all if you ask me.

Very Central to All the Fun in Colorado

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at this cute cabin. Lots of room, big bathrooms, and a wonderful kitchen and laundry room. The floor plan is open and spacious.

The cabin is remote, but just a few minutes from highway 24. We were able to do so many fun activities without driving far at all. Florissant Fossil Beds are a just a few minutes away, along with a great little historical museum and a fun bar and grill (Thunderbird).

The owner told us about a dam where we could have a picnic, and we saw eagles' nests while we were there! We used his inter tubes to go down the nearby river and saw lots of wildlife from the house and road (deer, fox, elk, hawks, and more).

At FFB you will see a short film before enjoying an interpretative talk from a ranger, see petrified tree remains and other fossils, walk the 14 miles of trails, picnic at one of three grilling sites, or participate in one of the frequent special events held at the park.

Adeline Hornbek Homestead (5 miles). Be inspired by the tale of this courageous woman who helped settle the west. Widowed in 1864 with three small children to care for, she took on the challenge of creating a home and ranch for her family as a single mother. Visit her homestead and learn more about this spunky, savvy and hard scrabble lady of the west.

Park visitors traverse the park’s numerous trails on foot, snowshoes, cross-country skis, horseback and mountain bike, depending on the season. A popular winter destination for snow tubing.

Woodland Park (19 miles). Art galleries, craft shows, city parks and dinosaurs keep visitors of all ages busy in Woodland Park. Visit the local restaurants and taverns or explore Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center. The town hosts a wonderful Farmer's Market each Friday morning of the warm months that has a fun street fair feel. Great shopping, food, local celebrations, music and more.

Eleven Mile State Park (19 miles). More exciting fishing for the anglers and beautiful vistas for the family. Visitors can rent equipment to fish year round (ice augers are available as well as boats, bait and tackle).

Less than 40 miles away

Cripple Creek (22 miles). A visit to the World’s Greatest Gold Camp is a look into the past and an adventure in the present. The area’s rich and colorful history comes alive at a fabulous free museum. Cripple Creek's Casinos provide today’s fortune-seekers with state-of-the art slot machines and a chance to try their skills at blackjack or poker.

Green Mountain Falls (24 miles).

Waldo Canyon Loop is a seven-mile loop that takes your breath in more than one way. The views are spectacular and the workout is challenging. Another popular trail in Green Mountain Falls is the Catamount Trail, a great place to see GMF and Ute Pass below. After a hike or run enjoy a picnic at Gazebo Lake.

Victor (30 miles).

Victor, Colorado - the City of Mines - is located at nearly 10,000 feet on the southwest side of Pikes Peak, in the Cripple Creek Victor Mining District.
