About Abel Chirino

My wife and I visited the Smokies in 2005 and fell in love with Gatlinburg and the surrounding areas. We purchased a small condo on ski mountain in 2006, but decided that what we really wanted was a log cabin. We searched and found Wilderness Escape in 2010. It was a foreclosure and therefore we had the opportunity of fixing it up from scratch. We took special care in picking every single item of décor found in our cabin.

Abel Chirino purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Abel Chirino chose Tennessee

We fell in love with the views and the spaciousness that the master bedroom provides. There are nine picture windows and a spectacular sunset awaits from the deck off the master bedroom.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin is unique in that it sits all by itself on top of a knoll. There is a cabin visible below, but no neighbors to the left or to the right. This cabin is semi-secluded and very cozy. The amazing sunset views is also a major plus of Wilderness Escape.

Wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

Had a nice, relaxing stay in the smokies. The cabin was well maintained and was all we had hoped it to be.

The cabin is nice and secluded

  • 2 of 5

The property is nice and secluded, but the cleanliness is not what you would expect. There was Cobb webs in windows, thick dust on top of the ceiling fan blades, lost socks and debris under the bed on the lower level. The hot tub was nice, but the water stinks and probably needs to be changed.

There wasn’t a baking sheet, but the kitchen did have various cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses, etc.

Overall nice cabin, but probably would choose a different one on the next trip.

Owner's Response: Chris, I am so surprised that you have given us a 2 star review. Why did you not reach out to us so that we could come out and take care of any cleaning issues? We strive for guest satisfaction and we would have definitely sent our cleaners back to the cabin to correct anything not up to your expectations.

Wonderful.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was tastefully decorated. Clean floors. Clean beds. Clean towels and showers. Clean hot tub. The driveway is steep so a low car would probably drag. But no problems in our suv. Definitely a 4wd in the winter. It's a little out of the way if you like to be doing something all the time, but we enjoyed the private setting. Plenty to do at the cabin: pool table, foosball, checkers, cards, and great tv selection. Wonderful shower pressure. The beds were good on a comfy scale. Has a pretty view. I would definitely rent this cabin again, or would check into their other listings.

Nice Cabin with beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very nice, just like the pictures. The view from the top floor and top balcony is beautiful! The kitchen is well equipped with everything. The master bedroom is very spacious.

The towels and some of the bedding were not clean. The tubs were not cleaned after the previous person's stay. We had our own towels that we used. The cabin is very dusty as well.

The driveway is very steep, but we made it with a 2 wheel drive vehicle. I can see why you'd probably need a 4x4 in the winters.

The owner is nice and responded right away when we texted/emailed her. We didn't let her know during our stay of the few problems we had, but notified her when we left.

We pay a cleaning fee so we expect it to be clean when we check in as well.

Overall nice cabin and we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Cabin with a Great view of the Valley

  • 5 of 5

Our Family of 3 decided to evacuate for hurricane Irma and after getting a flight to Tennessee we decided we would go to the Smokey mountains and that staying in a cabin near them would be a great experience for us and our 6.5-year-old. We were looking for something relatively modernized with HD tv, Cable, Internet etc., you know the basics. We ended up choosing this Gorgeous Cozy Cabin that had way more than we expected for the extremely reasonable rate. It’s a great two-story cabin that seems small from the outside but is spacious and tastefully equipped and decorated. It has a spacious Master Bedroom as well a separate bedroom downstairs with access to the downstairs bathroom (which was very accommodating especially for a second bathroom in this space.) There was also a balcony with a couple of chairs that opened from the Master Bedroom Providing amazing views of the valley bellow and surrounding mountains. The Beds and Pillows were very comfortable, and a separate roll away bed is provided for guest’s younger than our son if need be. The Master had a Great King-sized bed and the separate bedroom had a queen which our son loved. Everything was clean and well-maintained and functional for the most part. Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out the VCR in the separate room to watch the classic Disney movies the owner has on hand there. It most likely works I just didn’t spend much time trying to figure it out and it wasn’t important enough to us to contact the owner about as we went to the Smokey’s to enjoy the outdoors.

Onto the amenities, there are 2 jacuzzies, a full size one the balcony on the first floor and a second bath jacuzzi in the master bedroom. There was even a well-maintained pool table, a Foosball table and an oversized checkers set on a domino’s/card table. There is a charcoal grill in the front as well as a picnic bench. However, we didn’t really use them during our stay but they looked well-kept and maintained. There was also a nice bench outside on the porch on which every morning we would find a couple of cute leaf grasshoppers. There was also a nice swinging bench on the porch as well.

It is a Bit of a drive to get to the cabin itself taking anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on the conditions and traffic on the road. We always left early and arrived late and usually missed the rush so we averaged 20 minutes or so to go up or down from the cabin. We loved going to cielito lindo which was a great little Mexican place in pigeon forg

A Perfect anniversary getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect and so well appointed! There were plenty of towels! The bed was comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed including plenty of paper towels, starter dishwasher soap and everything else. They also included one load of laundry detergent, lots of toilet paper and movies for the kids. The stars were amazing at night. The personal touches were very thoughtful! It is private which was exactly what we wanted. It was great to wake in the morning and feel like you are in the trees. The reviews made me nervous about the driveway and it wasn't bad. We had a small four cyclinder car. I can see why winter would be a bit of a challenge but otherwise a piece of cake. The homeowners were very easy to reach and answered any questions right away! The only thing I would add is that when you press in the security code for alarm system you have to press off after the code. And be aware that the third weekend in September is a crazy busy time in Pigeon Forge. It is a car rally and traffic is crazy! Plan to just stay in and enjoy the cabin! It is a great escape to the wilderness.
