About Alejandro Goya
We are originally from Argentina. In the early 90's my brother Francisco Goya and I decided on moving to Maui and pursuing our windsurfing dream. Maui offers one of the most consistent wave sailing conditions in the world. I'm also an artist and love nature, so as an artist it is easy to get inspired by beautiful Maui. In 1993 my mother purchase this amazing property; lucky us! One great benefit about our vacation rentals is meeting people from around the world who come to experience our beautiful and unique land. I feel beyond fortunate about been able to call our little spot in paradise my home; it is peaceful yet near everything I could possibly need and want, specially windsurfing. More thing about myself and happy to share with you: finding the best in people inspires me greatly, and been thankful I need less and live happier. “When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.” - Aldo Leopold, 1948

Why Alejandro Goya chose Haiku-Pauwela
Our property offers a great sense of grounding, getting back in touch with the earth and ourselves. By just sleeping or standing on this land, people's 5 senses come back to life and time seems to slow down a bit. Staying here with your loved ones, family and friends will most likely help you connect or reconnect. Mana Aina for me is a happy place, where everyone comes to have a good time, get together and feel in touch with nature, our lovely pets [goats, chickens, bunny and cat roaming freely] and Maui. Geographically Mana Aina is located in the heart of Haiku, where it is peaceful yet close to all the fun, great beaches, shopping and restaurants. Also, what's amazing about this area is that it is all agricultural land and the properties are large offering lots of space, peace and privacy. In some ways purchasing this property was made possible by my grandparents whom I love and respect for who they were and their life accomplishments. Living here reminds me of the time I had with them and how much a part of the word home they mean to me. So I'm extremely grateful to my mother for having the vision and courage to buy this wonderful land, and for giving me the opportunity to share this spot in paradise with thousands of wonderful guests from around the world.

Beautiful property and central location!
We explored the rain forest area from Alejandro's beautiful property. Peaceful, quiet, incredibly comfortable bed and clean. We have only the highest praises! Definitely stay here if you come to Maui!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here on Maui. Close enough to all the things we wanted to do but a nice retreat.
This was a lovely, clean private property with plenty of room both inside and out. The photos didn’t actually do it justice as it was nicer than pictured. Thank you Alejandro.
A slice of Hawaii Heaven
Alejandro has a beautiful property on the North Shore of Maui near Haiku and Pauwela! The studio was spacious and clean, the memory foam mattress comfortable...but the setting is just amazing. I'm writing this as we are packing up on our way back to Colorado today, listening to the sounds of the birds and the wind in the trees - looking out over the expansive tree-lined grounds - and am already planning a return trip. There are beaches within 10 minutes by car. Paia and Mana Foods is just 15 minutes away. The privacy and tranquility of this place make those distances completely worth it; I cannot recommend this place highly enough.!
Peaceful stay in the country, nice design
We enjoyed our short time at Alejandro's charming place. These are roomy, newly built, and with quality materials. We particularly enjoyed the big tub for soaking. The roaming chickens were a plus! It was a peaceful time in a nice part of the island with the cool, artsy towns nearby. Be sure to read your directions to the property closely (I didn't) because these are subtley placed cabins on a private road and can easily be driven past (like I did).
A peaceful place in paradise.
My partner and I were seeking a quiet, peaceful accommodation that would provide us with the sense of "escaping it all" - and we found it at this property! Alejandro's property feels remote, without being too far away from local amenities and popular destinations. We are nature lovers, and enjoyed observing the birds and chickens in the yard in the morning, the gentle evening and morning rain-showers (and the rainbows they brought with it!), the endless sky-full of stars when the clouds parted at night, and the tranquility of our spacious, comfortable studio set amongst it all. Alejandro left detailed instructions for locating the property, unlocking the doors etc., and clearly laid out what was required and expected upon check-out and during our stay (nothing unreasonable - be respectful of neighbours, avoid wearing shoes inside, how to use the t.v. etc.). Alejandro also made sure to be available for anything we needed and was warm and accommodating. If you are looking for an escape, with a rural/tropical feel, I highly recommend this place! Since the property is just outside local towns, you'll need a rental car, but I would suggest you have one anyway to really be able to get out and experience all that Maui has to offer.
Thank you Alejandro for a memorable stay! We hope to see you again :)
Quiet as advertised!
The place was exceptionally quiet.
This place is away from everything and is really nice to get away from the rest of the tourist areas.
Due to our itinerary, we were unable to enjoy the property.
Just a heads up, there are chickens roaming around. You will hear them in the early morning, but not bad.
Kitchen was very good. Utilized the pans and dishes every night of our stay.
Shower was very good. Bed was very comfortable. Towels were adequate, although, being there for 5 nights, could have supplied a few more wash rags for our stay.
The internet was ok, but, if streaming a you tube video or movie, it definitely lags in video quality and consistently pauses.
Just one thing to keep in mind, as it says in the description of this property, there is no a/c. Not a issue for our stay, but, it was humid more than usual during our time here according to the locals.
Opening all windows and running the fans helped. Having been sun burned a few times, along with the heat, made for some uncomfortable nights. All this aside, it does feel better in the early mornings.
One other thing, possibly from having to leave windows opened and allowing the air to circulate, we did find several small insects in the room during our stay.
All-in-all, a good stay and would come back again.
Although our property is very secluded and quiet, just 6 minutes away you will find some nice restaurants and shopping for groceries as well. If you enjoy organic and healthy foods, Mana Foods (our local grocery store in Paia) is just a short 10 minutes drive from here as well as the beach and a number of activities/adventures. The closest place where you may enjoy a yummy casual breakfast or lunch is at the Pauwela Cannery, a surfers' and windsurfers' favorite. The Haiku Cannery does have more eating out options than the Pauwela Cannery, but it is 3 minutes further away. At the Haiku Cannery I very much enjoy the sushi at Nuka and the amazing burgers, pizza, pasta, salads and cold beer at Colleen's Restaurant. Around the corner from Nuka there is Maui Kombucha Bar, don't miss it! There is also Vegout for vegetarians across from Nuka. By the way, all these places are right next to the Haiku Post Office. There are also some more restaurants in this area and many good options to explore, but before I'm finished, I want to mention the Taco Truck and Tai wagon restaurant! If you are staying with us during wave season, you may want to visit Jaws to see tow surfing and windsurfing pushed to the extremes on some of the biggest rideable waves on the planet. Just drive straight down from our place towards the ocean, but make sure you are on a 4 wheel drive vehicle, especially if muddy conditions! If you enjoy hiking through amazing and unique places, you might want to visit the Makawao Forest; just a beautiful 20 min drive from here. Also, if you are feeling adventurous, on the way to the Makawao forest a fun place to go is the Piiholo Ranch Zip Line. On the way down from the forest you may want to stop at Makawao Town to check out some locally owned stores or for a bite to eat. By the way, I love the sandwiches at Casanovas in Makawao. There are some small art galleries there too if you happen enjoy painters who portray Maui's landscapes. Downhill from Makawao is Paia, a cool place patched with boutiques, restaurants and my favorite health food store Mana Foods. I would highly encourage shopping for groceries at Mana Foods, once you go there you'll see what I mean. The beach is also right in front of Paia and if you are up to a long walk on the beach, start right there and walk or swim towards Kahului; pass the rocks and coves and keep walking... also great for a jog or run. If you want to check out some great streams and pools, Iao Valley is your spot hands down. This area is also known for it's amazing hikes. It is above Old Wailuku. This is a personal favorite and place where I like to take friends while they are visiting Maui.
There are so many great things to do and nearby places to visit from our property, like the Haleakala [volcano], Poli Poli, Kula, Twin Falls, including some secret spots like Commando Hike, I could go on and on. With that said, we hope you will get to enjoy staying at our property as we look forward to meeting you and talking about some of the beautiful places to explore and visit on Maui.
