We have stayed at several cabins in Gatlinburg and have some comparable knowledge of what to expect. This was a nice cabin but not a luxury cabin by any means. The photos must of been made when the cabin was brand new. To begin with we understand that cabins supply a small "beginners" supply of paper products. The kitchen garbage had one bag to fill not even an extra. All other garbage cans in the cabin had an extra. There was nothing supplied to clean pots and pans with except a washcloth. Speaking of washcloths...there were three bathrooms for 6-8 people. Each bathroom had ONE washcloth? All of this would have been non mentionable however the other issues made all of these little things just aggravating. The downstairs bedroom leaked through the window and kept our friends up all night mopping and listening to continuous drip, drip, drip. We noted that this was not a new problem as the wood was discolored from previous leeks. Someone came out the next day to look at it only to say "put a towel down and we will fix it later". Lastly my husband took quite a spill when he sat in one of the plastic outdoor chairs that had a broken leg but was not removed. Luckily he was ok. I shared all of this with the office and was told they could do nothing about it since the manager would not be in until Monday. I requested the manager to call me and left my cell number. Needless to say I didn't hear from him/her so I share it here. Stay at your own risk!

My Favorite Cabin by Far!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 9 recently stayed at The Gathering Place and we loved it. We stay in a cabin once a year and this was the best cabin we have stayed in so far. The cabin is only minutes from attractions of Pigeon Forge and very close to Dollywood. The drive is steep, but not as long and winding as most drives to mountain cabins. The kitchen had everything we needed and the dining room table was large enough for the whole family. The open kitchen, dining and living area was not very large but it was spacious enough for my whole family to enjoy at one time. The main floor balcony had amazing mountain views. The balcony had several adult and child sized rocking chairs for you to sit and enjoy the view. I would suggest bringing a baby gate if you will be traveling with small children (or check with the rental company to see if you can borrow one) because the steps to downstairs are steep and there is no door to close them off (this is common in this type of cabin). The bedrooms all met expectations that the pictures set. Each room had a TV and access to television services and/or a DVD player. I appreciated that each room had an extra blanket and extra pillows. The main floor had a bedroom with a large jacuzzi tub in the bedroom and a toilet and sink were closed off into a small room for privacy. The other bathroom on the main floor was just outside the door of the other main floor bedroom. The downstairs bathroom was located between the two bedrooms and also housed the washer and dryer. I appreciated that each shower had a handheld showerhead, this was a nice bonus. The hot tub was large and functioned perfectly. The pool table was like new and the room that housed it was large enough to allow for easy play (no bumping into the walls). The media room was a crowd favorite with a huge projector screen, surround sound, couches that recline, bean bags and gaming chairs. Outside there was a covered picnic table, extra chairs, a grill, and firepit. This outdoor area could use some work, the structure covering the picnic table is not very sturdy and there are holes in the structure's roof. The pool was only a short, easy drive away. It was large and in an enclosed building. The cabin was very clean when we arrived and I never saw any sort of pests. The sheets had been washed and appeared to be newer and very clean. Overall, this cabin was everything that we hoped it would be. We enjoyed our stay and will likely try to rent this cabin again in the future.

Beautiful cabin, nice location, driveway tough to get in and out. Steep steps going downstairs so not good for small children. Front steps need to be fixed. We had two adults fall and one hurt very badly. It had been raining but no ice or snow.
