Beachfront Bliss is a spacious studio apartment, with a new large balcony, situated right on the beach of Villefranche-sur-Mer. Whether sitting at the dining table inside our outside, lounging on chaise on the balcony, reading on the sofa, or laying in bed, you see the sea always and feel as though the sea is at your feet. Although a studio, the apartment is designed so that the bed (a real one!) easily disappears when not in use and the room becomes a lovely apartment. Three great lounging areas exist: a sofa for two with a coffee table and view of the sparkling sea, or the dining table for two with footstools that enable you to slip back into the chair for relaxing in front of the huge picture window, and the balcony where there is a large dining table (easily seating 4) and lounging chairs. There is a great little kitchenette, very well designed and functional, with a stove top, oven for microwave, grilling, and conventional cooking, a large half-sized refrigerator, granite counter tops, and ample storage space. The bathroom has a spacious stall shower and lovely window with a view to the garden. There is plenty of clothes storage and a little desk for you to work away if need be.
About the area: Villefranche-sur-Mer is a traditional Niçoise fishing village dating back to 1295 and anchored by two cosmopolitan cities on either side: Nice to the west and Monaco to the east. One could not speak about Villefranche without exclaiming its physical beauty. Surrounding its large, natural (and world famous) bay are cliffs and steep hillsides, brimming with olive and citrus trees, Mediterranean pines, and bougainvillea flowering plants. This lush vegetation meets the water’s edge, where the shades of blue are as dazzling as a sapphire necklace. The bay of Villefranche is surrounded by two of the most beautiful Caps in the Mediterranean: Cap Ferrat and Cap de Nice. These stunning limestone peninsulas- sprinkled with luxurious villas and lavish gardens- protect and embrace our bay. Amidst all of this is the charming village, hugging the coastline with colorful buildings. During a stroll through the maze-like streets of the Old Town, you will see beautiful balconies decorated with potted plants, fresh laundry flapping in the sea breeze, and hear the sounds of church bells and music wafting through the corridors. And of course, what description of Villefranche would be complete without mentioning the boating scene! Watching the comings and goings- from cruise ships to yachts to fishing boats- could be a full time occupation!
There is no shortage of things to do during your stay! And we are always happy to make recommendations. That said, part of the pleasure of being here is taking in the lifestyle of the village and the area: getting up and going for a walk or swim at the beach, shopping at the fresh markets (on Wednesdays and Saturdays), sitting on your balcony and admiring the beautiful scenery, exploring the village and all of its little quarters... Guests frequently come with a long list of all the things they will do, and then a couple of days into the trip, they decide to reduce the list and just enjoy the lifestyle.
We own six beautiful apartments in the Old Town and one villa set atop the hillside. My name is Shelley Dobyns and am the owner, along with my husband Riccardo Leggio, of Riviera Experience. We have 9 holiday rental apartments in Villefranche sur Mer. We have had our business since 2004. We are registered with the French Chamber of Commerce. Both originally American, I (Shelley) also now have French nationality. We live full time in Villefranche and personally run our business along with some staff. We have lived in Villefranche for 14 years.
Shelley Dobyns purchased this apartment in 2008
We have always loved this building and location. Why? It is a landmark building in Villefranche, is right on the beach, has full sun all day and is convenient to everything. We had the chance to purchase this studio in 2008. We have been working for years to obtain authorization to build the balcony and finally got it done in 2015. We were fortunate to be able to purchase the penthouse apartment in this same building just last year (2014).

Beachfront Bliss truly lives up to its name. The view from the large picture window is glorious (in all weathers!) and despite the size (“compact and bijoux”) the apartment contains all that you need and more. Ingenious use of space means that no corner is left unutilised and something needs to be said for how comfortable the pull-down double bed is! It neatly folds away during the day, magically turning the apartment from luxury bedroom into luxury lounge. The corner kitchen is fully equipped and we cooked a full meal on more than one occasion – a welcome alternative to eating out every night and something you would not be able to do in a regular hotel room! My husband and I spent a wonderful week here in November 2008 and could not have been made more welcome by Shelley, the owner. The bathroom (check out the great shower!) was stocked with luxury products and the fridge a bottle of chilled wine. Villefranche itself is a quaint little town packed with amenities. It’s restful and a perfect “get away from it all” kind of place but at the same time a stone’s throw from Nice, Monaco and many other major attractions – all of which are easily and cheaply accessible by train (the station is just behind the apartment). We would happily return to Beachfront Bliss in a flash!!

My husband and I felt very much at home in this well designed studio apartment. Although small it is very comfortable, modern and offers the most beautiful balcony with picture perfect views. Riccardo met us when we arrived and was so helpful and welcoming which got our trip off to a wonderful start.
This is the ultimate beach pad....
Perfect for a 'real' beach holiday as you are looking out to the sparkling sea from your sun filled balcony and literally seconds from the beach.
Also ideal for an artist, writer of someone needing their own inspiring space with views that are out of this world. Looking over to Cap Ferrat on one side, the beautiful Old Town of Villefranche on the other and directly onto the sea.
The views are mesmerising at every time of the day and evening. Each time you enter the apartment the view, like a painting, awakens you.
The luxurious and individual fittings are perfectly designed to make best use of all space and the spacious, sunny balcony is the icing on the cake.
The bed, shower, linens, towels are of the highest standard with the most beautiful paintings and furnishings.
Also every chair and the settee are just so comfortable for reading, writing or relaxing with friends.
Shelley is the perfect, kind host and makes every guest feel so welcome and special.
I've now stayed in several of her stunning apartments in Villefranche and each is designed with her impeccable and individual style.
If you book any of Shelleys apartments you won't be disappointed!
We had a wonderful stay at the Beachfront Bliss. The pictures are 100% accurate and location is very good. There is no need for a car at this location because you can walk everywhere. However, I might add that if you have mobility issues I would not recommend this apartment and it is the only reason. Public transportation is very accessible either by train or bus. There are trains that take you to each village in the the French Rivera and even to Ventimiglia, Italy. The train is just up a flight of steps behind the apartment. Even though the train is close by it was never a problem as far as noise. One can catch the bus which is only a few steps from the apartment. The apartment was very clean and well maintained. It is a studio apartment but was well thought out and has everything you need for a wonderful stay. There is plenty of room for your clothes with 2 cabinets with hangers and a dresser with large drawers. The bed is very comfortable and is easy to put inside the closet during the day. There is also an alarm clock that can be used. The TV has French channels as well as English News such as CNN if you want to catch up on news back home. It has sliding glass doors as you can see in the picture that give you a beautiful view of an inlet that is part of the Mediterranean Sea. There is a deck with a table and chairs to use. There is also an electronic shade in case you don't want the sun waking you up in the morning and awning that can be used during the day. It is well equipped with updated appliances dishes, cutlery, pots and pans so it is easy to fix meals there. The kitchen sink is small but that was never a problem. It had the best kitchen drain stopper I have ever used so it was easy to let small amounts of water out while doing dishes. Their are also several Restaurants one can walk too. There are no American fast food restaurants that we noticed. The WiFi worked well too. The washer is right outside the apartment in a locked closet which is easy to get to. There is also close lines outside to hang your clothes with enough clothes pins. There is a lovely park in town near the tourist office. There is a Petite Casino Grocery store within walking distance. The address is 10 Rue du Poilu and http://www.yelp.com/biz/petit-casino-villefranche-sur-mer for directions. Shelley was a breath of fresh air. She give excellent instructions on arrival. I can only say positive things about her. Kudos to Shelley and this amazing apartment.
We chose this beautiful little apartment on a friend's suggestion. A taxi was arranged to pick us up at the airport in Nice. Perfect after long flight from Seattle. Our first impression was "small". True, but it worked like a charm! Location is fabulous. On the water next to the beach and justbelow the train station. We never rented a car. So much to see and do within walking distance. Breakfast on the warm and sunny deck each morning was a marvelous way to start the day. Great views and binoculars provided. Comfortable bed with great pillows! This was our honeymoon and it worked out better than we could have imagined. Beachfront Bliss and Villefranche turned out to be the perfect combination. We absolutely loved it!
Beachfront Bliss is a gem! The sea view is picture perfect; the fabulously designed and luxurious interior creates easy and relaxing living; the new balcony is another room for al fresco dining by the sea, morning coffee or an evening glass of Rose watching the sun go down; the kitchenette, bathroom and even the washing machine! are all so well designed and highly maintained. I've never slept on a more comfortable bed! Shelley is a complete delight to deal with and knows everything about Villefranche and the surrounding areas.
Perfect place to enjoy the Riviera lifestyle! It just couldn't be better.
Beachfront Bliss is located in the Old Town of Villefranche-sur-Mer on the waterfront quai. Villefranche is nestled between Nice and Monaco (10 minutes from Vieux Nice, 20-25 minutes from Monaco). Although surrounded by a diverse, exciting cosmopolitan environment, it is still an authentic Niçoise village. I know, I live here, and it's hard to believe it is still that way-- wonderful! Within close and easy access are Antibes, Cannes, St. Paul de Vence, Grasse, Mougins, and just a bit further, St. Tropez, Ramatuelle, Bormes les Mimosas, or Aix, Arles, Avignon and all the villages of Provence. Take a ferry from Nice Port to Corsica (3 hours on the fast ferry), or head to Italy and visit Ventimiglia, San Remo, the Vallee de Roya, Portofino, Cinque Terre... But if you stay in Villefranche and the neighboring towns of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, St. Jean Cap Ferrat, Eze, and La Turbie, you'll exhaust a week or more just exploring and enjoying these lovely villages. Most of these sites are easy to access without a car. And if you are here to attend the French language institute, Institut Français, it is a 10 minute walk away.
