We currently live in Edinburgh and have done for the past 25 years, however, we grew up in the North East of England. We have 2 children who are now young adults, therefore we are just beginning to enjoy the odd weekend to ourselves, but trying to keep family holidays going for as long as we can!
Amanda Longstaff purchased this apartment in 2008
Perthshire is truly beautiful in all seasons with lots to do for all family members from young to old.
Peaceful, semi rural location, yet close enough to major trunk roads to get travel to other parts of Scotland. Very large 24 hour supermarket just a couple of minutes drive (or 20 minute walk) to apartment. You can walk or cycle into Perth along the River Almond which becomes the River Tay. There are some great restaurants in the area.
A charming apartment! It is centrally located to many attractions in the Perth area.
We loved our 3 weeks!
This romantic 2 floors house is just very lovely and over-complete (my wife found the various good lighted mirrors unique for a holiday home). Even if it should rain all the time, you could easily enjoy holidays here inside with huge beds, comfortable couch and sofa's, video's, books, internet, complete kitchen and hyper-market Tesco on 5 minutes distance. Very sweet and helpful owners!
We biked up along the river to Perth for half an hour and back. Also great as a base camp to do road trips around Scotland. Not far from a lot of great attractions (Pitlochry's Queen's view, Bruar falls, the Scottish crannog centre, Dalwhinnie, Port Williams and Glencoe).
Will absolutely come back!
We spent an all too short a time in a very lovely apartment in beautiful surroundings. The owner went out of her way to accommodate us with very short notice. The apartment had everything we could have wished for and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable , homely stay in a quiet and pretty area.
A beautiful apartment in a rural setting but still close enough to the town and shops and within easy reach of Glenshee for the skiing. The apartment is well maintained to a high standard and is spotlessly clean. The owner is very friendly and helpful and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending a stay here.
We would highly recommend staying here. A first class well, maintained, spotless apartment situated in lovely rural surroundings. The owner is very friendly, helpful and makes you feel very welcome. We used this as a base to visit Glenshee, Braemar, Dundee and Perth, all stunning areas of beauty in Scotland. We had a fabulous stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here and are looking forward to returning very soon.
We were delighted with the apartment. Warm and cosy with loads of space and plenty of comfy places to curl up. Having met some definitely dodgy power showers on the Continent, it was great to find one that gave instant hot water - without a spark in sight. We even managed to get the hang of the electric cooker - always a bit of a challenge for those accustomed to gas.
The apartment was also ideally situated for visiting this beautful part of Scotland. And while we ate out for much of the time, we had reason to be grateful for the nearby Tesco's operating 24/7. Highly recommended.
Huntingtowerfield is a lovely rural location approximately three
miles to the west of Perth. There is a lovely riverside walk
along the banks of the River Almond where it meets the River
Tay and onwards through the North Inch Park Lands with its
municipal 18 hole golf course to the City of Perth.
For years people have come to Perthshire for its environmental qualities alone. The fresh air, clear waters, beautiful countryside which changes dramatically with the seasons has made the perfect holiday location for those seeking many and varied outdoor pursuits. For the less active among us it provides places to visit, gardens to enjoy and to just soak in peace and tranquility. When you hear the sound of the wood pigeons cooing in the morning in the silence of the trees, then you will know that everything is alright with the world around you!
Not far from the apartment (about 20 minutes drive) is Crieff Hydro Hotel which provides an abundance of activities which are open to non hotel guests.
Perth has its own concert hall, theatre and museum. You can cycle along the river from the apartment into Perth within 30 minutes. Get your picnic from M&S enjoy in park!
The town centre has many high street shops and a farmers market is held in the town the first Saturday of the month
Other Activities: off road driving
Golf: Perthshire is home to some of the finest inland golf courses in the world and with 40 to choose from … you'll be spoilt for choice.
In additions to which 60 further courses in surrounding Angus, Dundee and the Kingdom of Fife including St. Andrews and Carnoustie, all of which are within one hour's drive.
Ski: Approx one hour and 15 minutes away from Glenshee Ski Centre, here you can hire boots and skis/snowboards. In case of heavy snowfall check the road up to Glenshee is open beforehand!
Edinburgh the capital of Scotland where centuries of history meet a vibrant modern city, fantastic visitor attractions (some are free to enter such as the Museum of Scotland and Edinburgh's Botanical Gardens. A must see and only an hour's drive from our apartment.
Glasgow is Scotland's largest city, fantastic shopping, galleries, museums, architecture and the people are known for their friendliness - approx. just over an hour from our apartment.
Perthshire is known as the 'Gateway to the Highlands' so from here you can go exploring... some of our Home Exchangers in the past even venture over to visit the Isle of Skye during their stay, and stay overnight in order to see the dramatic landscape and beautiful sea views.
