We are the Long family. We live in St Andrews and have this lovely apartment in the loveliest part of Edinburgh. Annie (Mum) works for the National Trust for Scotland, and Phil works in Dundee creating the V&A Museum there. We have furnished the apartment with great care. We have two boys, Hector and Alexander. Lisa our wonderful housekeeper has worked with Annie for 25 years at The National Trust for Scotland and she lives close by to help with any queries.
Annie Long purchased this townhome in 2015
We love this apartment because of its location, in a beautiful street in the best part of town. It has its own front door, and a pretty town garden, a rare thing in such a central location. We love the walk along the river to the National Gallery of Modern Art, we love that the children can walk around the area safely and go to the swimming pool, the Botanic Gardens, play tennis or cycle from our own front door. Of course cinema, restaurants, theatre and music within walking distance feature highly too.
The beautiful safe area so close to Princes Street and the Castle
Its own front door
We can let you drop luggage early or late to suit you
The farmers market in the next street each Sunday
The local independent shops, cafes and restaurants
The antique and vintage shops
The contemporary furniture and lighting shops
French doors which lead from the sitting room to the garden
High quality fittings and great heating and hot water system
Lovely flat with everything you could possibly need. Ten minutes walk to Princes Street. Great to stay just outside the centre. Nice villagey feel to the area with lots of nice eating places close by. Great local food and craft market, on the Sunday morning. Would definitely stay again so much nicer than a Hotel. Lots of useful information from owner, regarding the apartment and the area.
We were most impressed this lovely Stockbridge apartment, Annie was very helpful in informing us where to park our car and on hand for advice. The apartment is beautifully decorated, with a plentiful supply of books, films and games, as well as kitchen stocked with all required utensils. Conveniently located in central Edinburgh and just a 2 minute walk to Stockbridge shops, markets and cafes. Large spacious garden, which was ideal as we were staying with two dogs. Would highly recommend this property.
Would like to take this opportunity to thank Annie for her hospitality as we stayed in her Edinburgh apartment from July 1st to July 15th. Everything was exactly as advertised - clean, prepared, upscale apartment finishes truly let us enjoy the stay. Apartment is within 20 minutes walking distance from almost everything, including 2 minutes walk to the nearest grocery store and Stockbridge farmers market we visited on Sunday. Annie was very responsive during all our communications and while we were in Edinburgh and personal touch on the arrival to find a set of food for us was very thoughtful and appreciated.
I would definitely stay with Annie again and would absolutely recommend her flat to everyone who wants to see this amazing country and a city which is absolutely breathtaking.
We were very pleased with the flat with the distinctive blue door. Annie left detailed instructions about everything in the apartment which was much appreciated. The second bedroom is small but charming and is really only good for one person. The kitchen is compact but well equipped and the bathroom modern. There are steep steps from the street to the downstairs flat making luggage transport difficult but the driver of the car service we hired to take us to the airport kindly carried the big bags upstairs at the end of our stay. Loved being able to sit outside for lunch or dinner in the back garden. The apartment is located in a quiet residential area but is within walking distance of some of Edinburgh's main attractions. Stockbridge is a pleasant place to visit and our hostess provided plenty of suggestions for local restaurants and provision stores. Highly recommended.
Ediniburgh is beautiful and this apartment matches its beauty. Among all the places we stayed in this vacation, this apartment was the classiest. From the beautiful street, the spaciousness of the flat, the modern kitchen and bathroom, the great books and amenities in the lounge, and the nice back garden, we really liked the place the moment we walked in. The location is hard to beat. It has a great walk down river Leif, nice restaurants, grocery supermarkets all near by. This is the new part of town and walking to the Castle or the Royal Mile is about 20 minutes. The walk is hilly but it passes through some beautiful areas like Princess Gardens and classy bars and shops that makes the walk really enjoyable even on tired legs. Annie was fantastic, we needed to keep our bags early and she graciously accommodated, and it was great to interact with her and her husband. Wonderful place and highly recommend!
We are two single women who have been travelling together for many years using the various rental companies. I found this flat to be one of the best so far. It was everything and more then we had hoped for when we booked it online. It was perfect!
The location could not have been better. We love to walk and from this location we could do that. We could even walk to where we met our tour bus and to the train station when it was time to head up to Inverness.
The Stockbridge neighbourhood is really funky with lots of places to eat/drink and the food stores were an easy 15 or 20 mins away on foot, depending which one you wanted. We tried both. As most old, historical cities like Edinburgh, the streets are tricky, but with the GPS directing us, it was a breeze.
AND the back garden was a great place to relax to after a busy day. It was lovely!
The only negative, is the second bedroom is quite small which could be a problem for some. For me it was like a little nest. Very cozy!
I highly recommend this flat with it's stone floors in the hall, and the updated bathroom and kitchen. It really felt like home. I didn't want to leave. :)
Thank you Annie! This was my first visit to Edinburgh, but I doubt my last. Cheers!
Situated down-town Edinburgh in a very smart area, the apartment gives quick walkable access to Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House, Kings Park and Arthur's Seat and is located very close to the Royal Edinburgh Botanical Gardens and the National Gallery of Modern Art. Its in the most sought after rand expensive residential area, with lots of independent shops, restaurants and cafes. Clarence Street is by the river side and there are great walks which would make you think you were in the country, but its right there in the centre of the city. Once you have seen the main sights (listed above), visit the Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith (you can walk there along the riverside walk beside the apartment) is very good fun and a high quality visit, the National Museum of Scotland is world-class, Calton Hill is really interesting and gives great views of the city.
Theatres and concert halls are the Usher Hall, Lyceum Theatre, Festival Theatre, Queens Hall and the Traverse. Art cinema is fantastic at the Filmhouse and the Cameo, and plenty of mainstream cinema too at the Vue and Odeon. Shopping in independent shops is best in Victoria Street and the West End Village (Stafford Street). Stand up comedy at The Stand, or clubbing at Sneaky Pete's. Summerhall on the Meadows is a multi-arts venue with its own brewery..
